I've reworded this a few times but has there been a real shift with teenagers over the last 10-15 years? When I was younger, prom/going out outfits were still dressy but people generally wore things that actually fit and flattered. Now it seems to be all skin-tight, cropped, and as revealing as possible - whether it suits or not. And I do think, realistically, kids are heavier than they used to be (not taller, just more weight esp round the middle), yet the fashion is less forgiving than ever. So you get girls poured into tiny dresses or crop tops with everything on show, incl some pretty unfortunate “jelly belly” situations, and it just looks uncomfortable rather than confident tbh. Not saying anyone needs to be stick thin, but have we lost the idea of dressing to suit your shape instead of squeezing into whatever’s trending? Am I too judgy or is this something others have noticed?
