Where to rest/sleep in London during the day?

Abit of an odd request. I’m having a day off work next week and I really want to spend it reading magazines and sleep. Problem is I can’t be at home as dc is here. I’m so tired, I have been ill on and off since Christmas. Does anyone know where I can go? Any day spas where I can snooze for a few hours? I don’t want treatments. I just want to sleep.

I'd go for a day spa over a hotel because hotels are surprisingly noisy in the daytime, unless they have dedicated 'sleeping in the daytime' sections. I stayed in a london hotel while working nights once, and despite having the do not disturb sign on, housekeeping knocked on the door multiple times during the first day.

I then asked reception that I really should not be disturbed in future days but you could still hear people vacuuming on the floor above, slamming doors, banging trolleys about and generally coming and going.

I know some lovely spas where you could get a spa only day package, with lunch if you wanted it and plenty of dark places to sleep for £70-100 for the day but they're all in Yorkshire or North West.

Look on www.treatwell.co.uk/places/offer-type-spa-day/in-london-uk/page-2/

For one with nice day beds and call for a full day pass

I would go for hotel- spa is nice but there isn't actual privacy, you might not be able to really let go and sleep, and you might be in a robe/under a towel which could feel uncomfortable after a couple of hours.

I'd get an 11-6 hotel room in South London and sleep.

I can't sleep in spas. I love a spa but can't relax enough to get decent sleep.

Porchester Spa? Check the days though as some are women only / men only / mixed. There's a big, high ceilinged room with sun beds. More of a doze than a sleep. I spent a happy afternoon reading there. Waitrose over the road to pick up food, which I brought back

Rowhill grange - it's a spa near darford. How about going south?

Premier Inn in Lewisham. Should be fairly easy to get too from most place in South East London. IIRC they have Aircon, so you could ramp that up, close the curtains and probably get a decent sleep, even in the middle of the day.

Good luck OP - sounds like you really need a rest.

Look for a day spa with waterbeds - they come with blankets or duvets. Not sure about within London but Brooklands Hotel in Weybridge has them.

The Better gym group have the 'spa experience' chain which is really nice but relatively cheap, £20ish to access a spa with a relaxation room.

If you want actual sleep I'd book a premier inn though

Sounds like you could use a good sleep ! day hotel in pimlico £95 all in !Take along some ear plugs /eye mask as well Hope you feel better .Nothing worse than not sleeping well!

Lynda07 · 07/03/2020 16:25

Travelodge or Premier Inn.

Heylottie33 · 07/03/2020 16:34

Can you put the kids to bed, then get yourself to the nearest Premier Inn for about 8pm..get a full nights sleep... Big breakfast... Then hit a nearby spa for a day pass, and head home for tea time?
I think I would feel much more rested to get my sleep at night?

lightlypoached · 07/03/2020 16:35

Do a gong bath. Truly restful. Amazing

MrsHardbroom · 07/03/2020 16:36

The Premier Inn at Smithfield is really quiet and fairly new. I've stated there twice and loved it

LolaLollypop · 07/03/2020 16:39

Not too far from London but Whittlebury Hall near Milton Keynes has an amazing spa and sleep room! You should be able to get a day spa for £100 or less

Where are you in london? The ironmonger row baths could be a good option (old street). Or I wonder if you could just do an Airbnb?
