I am glad that this monster has been named publicly. The idea that he would have been protected after murdering Alesha MacPhail made me sick. His picture is all over the news now.

Auch I think his life will be made hell in prison , almost better than the death penalty. How can he have laughed? What kind of mess is his brain Sad

It is bloody frightening that a child of 16 has carried out such a violent and heinous crime.

It is bloody frightening that anybody carries out such a heinous crime.
I feel sorry for his mother as she will be getting the blame from a lot of people.

I would bring back the death penalty for people like this. He has destroyed so many lives for no reason at all.

I don't support the death penalty for general purposes, but for this horrific proven murder of a young girl, and the lies he told - trying to shift the blame on to a woman no less - seconded. I see no benefit to the public in trying to keep him alive and much danger to women and girls.

True evil and no remorse. Its horrific that he thought when he saw her lying sleeping in her bed that whst he wanted to do was kill her.

Nicknacky · 21/03/2019 18:34

Even if we did have the death penalty, he wouldn’t be executed. So I wish people would stop saying that.

No? Why not?

I presume he'd be too young?

Yes, his age.

The DM 'reporting' is vile, all the stuff about her father and the murderer's appearance and so on.
That rag, and others, should be closed down. I wouldn't even use the DM as toilet paper.

My heart goes out to her family. Especially her mum. She's been so strong despite everything she heard about her baby and her death.

Report
WeeM · 21/03/2019 22:13

It’s absolutely fucking horrific. That poor wee soul has been on my mind a lot today, god only knows how her family are coping

Report
ohcarriemathison · 22/03/2019 08:23

Just heartbreaking.
I fed that he said when he walked with her to the beach se was cold and so he took his top off and gave it to her.
It's just so fucked up.
I have a 4 year old DD and my heart breaks for that little girl and the pain her Mum must be in, how can you ever function properly again.

I think I need to stop reading now as it's just so so sad.

@goodbyestranger I think you're right that there's more to this case, although the reporting has been very limited, and the confession is damning although strange. But without a doubt there's questions. Why would a drug dealer leave a key in his door? If the 'calculating, cold' killer washed the DNA from his clothes by throwing them in the sea, why not do the same with the body? What about the lack of statistics for 'stranger' guilt in child murders? Then we have the profile which, apart from the hearsay stories, is of a normal teenager with a girlfriend.

Old thread l know but the bloody cunting bastard is appealing his sentence. It's 'too harsh' apparently.

Apologies for the language but this is geographically close to me.

Hopefully he hasn't got a hope in hell

Hope the Evil bastard rots

I know Martha, l just can't understand why this has been allowed.

Hope he loses. Raping and murdering a little girl is harsh. 27 years in prison for it is justice (although too short if you ask me).

Report
Jemima232 · 14/05/2019 23:41

It's geographically close to me, too. Such a shocking crime.

Report
WaxOnFeckOff · 14/05/2019 23:43

It's allowed because it's his legal right and whilst I'd happily watch him rot in jail, i also think that (mostly) it's good that we do have a proper legal system with appropriate checks and balances. They don't always get it right but it's better than a lot of people have. There is always the chance that the sentence can be increased but sadly I don't think that will happen. There are times when people just need to be kept away from the rest of us. There is no way that that individual can be rehabilitated imo so I think he will always pose a risk. Prison in this case is therefor not for rehabilitation or really for punishment either as there is nothing that can adequately punish someone for a crime such as this. Prison in this case is purely just to protect the rest of the population from this predator.

I just dont understand what the outcome can be. I think am also still reeling by the ongoing police investigation into what is now being treated as a murder investigation for Emma Faulds in Ayrshire, there's so much violence and hate in this world.

Report
WaxOnFeckOff · 14/05/2019 23:57

3 possible outcomes - sentence is confirmed, sentence is reduced (probably to 20 years which i think is meant to be the maximum for a minor which is I guess the basis for his appeal) or it's increased (based on his danger to the public).

I've just spent an evening googling various murders on the back of the Crime story thread in AIBU :( It's a bad world sometimes.

Awwlookatmybabyspider · 15/05/2019 00:05

Too harsh!!!!!!AngryAngryAngry doesn't even begin to cover it. He's showing no remorse (hence his appeal) and Now he wants a reduced sentence. He's got to be taking the preverbial.
If it were up to me. I'd double no scratch that, triple his sentence.
What was he expecting? 50 hours community service. What an insult to that poor baby's family.

Report
WaxOnFeckOff · 15/05/2019 00:10

It's all a game to him sadly, he'll no doubt be getting his kicks at the thought of dragging it all up again and wasting people's time and money on top. The only halfway satisfactory conclusion to all this is that he is killed in a horrific, painful accident, dying in excruciating pain, all alone, aware that he is dying and being unable to get help or comfort.
