Hello, Mumsnetters. I'm on the lookout for a very chocolately, rich, and indulgent hot chocolate mix.

The Cadbury one in the purple tin just isn't satisfying my craving (pregnant, maybe that's why), and although I do enjoy making it from a bar of chocolate, that feels like lots more calories than a mix would be.

So, give me your recommendations for a really special treat, please :)

Another vote for whittards, ditto making it with milk, water doesn't belong in hot chocolate IMO! Try some Spanish drinking chocolate, it's quite thick and very good for dipping churros in.

kate, 'the ones you get in Norway.'

What are they like?

I love the idea of hot chocolate but usually find it disappointing.

The easiest way is to add some cocoa to the drinking chocolate mix.

Whichever drinking chocolate mix you choose the additional of cocoa powder or some grated 80+% chocolate is guaranteed to make it far nicer, less sweet, more chocolatey.

I use the Cadbury add water one, with double the amount of powder and half milk, half water.
The hotel chocolat salted caramel one is amazing.

Mine is a girl. When i was pregnant with my son i craved lemons.

As i say this time not really any cravings other than hot chocolate and in the beginning i was partial to a cream cake.

DH makes very rich tasting cocoa by mixing:
2tbs Green and Blacks cocoa
2tbs demerara sugar
2tbs coffee mate
2tbs milk

After mixing really well, he thins it with milk until the cup is full and microwaves it for two minutes while he licks the spoon. Sometimes he also puts a shot of espresso into it, decaff if it's late at night.

He made one for me with almond milk once and it was very, very chocolatey (but I'd still rather have had the espresso on its own).

I am sure it is an utter travesty and doesn't qualify as proper hot chocolate but I love the Milky Way Magic Stars one in the blue pouch....creamy, frothy and malty...very sweet but utterly delicious. Or if I'm out and about, the thick Italian hot chocolate from Carlucchio.

@Rarfy

I craved cream with my DS, but went off chocolate. Lemon gave me heartburn.

Exactly the same this time around so I recon it's another boy! I'm 16 weeks now.

I want a hot chocolate but the thought of it also kinda makes me feel sick... Not sure whether to risk it!
