Just had this discussion with my DP and mum and we all had a completely different answers.

I believe in reincarnation.

My DP is an atheist and believes nothing happens.

My mum believes in heaven/hell.

Maybe the NDE is just a figment of our dying imagination, or a surge of dopamine, or wishful thinking.

Some people swear they don't dream - but they do. We could say that perhaps PomBear just didn't remember anything?

Probably more to do with the fact some peoples near death experience involves a catastrophic shut down that occurs in seconds. E.g heart failure where they go from consciousness to comatose in a matter of seconds(had a relative that just switched off like this and remembers nothing) leaving little time to experience the bodies natural pain suppressors, which I suspect invoke the hallucinatory sensations of lights in tunnels and dead relatives.
I'd imagine those that have an ailment that results in a prolonged near death experience would be more likely to experience the results of the brains chemicals that kick in to suppress the discomfort of the extreme event.

Interesting discussion.

My grandad said his mum & brother were waiting for him a few days before he died. Comforting I think.
