First two episodes of Game of Thrones- I have problems (contains spoilers obviously)

Have only watched two episodes but it seems so fucked up.

So the blonde beautiful girl who gets married off to the big oaf guy and his army..she basically gets raped by him but then she asks a girl, who became a prostitute slave at the age 9, how to seduce him? And then she goes back to the oaf and they have some intense sex that I presume is meant to be sexy, even though it's basically rape.

HUH??

Also that dwarf guy is meant to be some kind of ledge despite the fact he shags loads of prostitutes.


AIBU to think this is fucking weird??

Unfortunately however I am finding it very gripping still

The show was outstanding while they had the source material to work from, but after that... When I think about the last season I get a bit anxious. Not because it will be the end, but because I hope they hired some better scriptwriters. I don't consider this a spoiler OP, I wish someone had warned me. The show is at its best from season 1-5, so savour them!

I avoided GoT for six years because I was outraged at the rape, violence, treatment of women etc.

When S7 started, I went back and watched every episode and since then I've rewatched them all about four times.

The female characters become ever more powerful, and the heart of the show, especially Dany and Cersei
Stick with it OP, it's brilliant and the character development is outstanding. No spoilers, but Arya is my favourite.

Agreed. Season 7 was a real disappointment. It’s as if they’re working to a set of bullet points of ‘this must happen’ and have no idea how to write the story to fill in the blanks. Even the great ‘holy shit’ moments in seasons 5, 6 and 7 just fell flat as they seemed utterly disconnected to the story. The best characters just became caricatures of themselves. I guess that’s what happens after 7 seasons.

Seasons 1-4 were fabulous, but the rest I could take or leave. I’d rather watch them as a few random YouTube clips.

Everyone kept telling me I have to watch it, but everything I read about the rape and violence really put me off.
I binge watched series 1-6 just a few weeks before 7 came on now it's one of my most favourite things ever!
