To hate the new IPhone update so much...

Omgkitties · 14/09/2016 18:37

That I'm actually considering selling my phone 😂

Hate it. There is literally nothing good about it.

The notifications look like something you'd get 10 years ago.
The emojis are just... wrong.
The way it's unlocked now just messes with me and now I just keep swiping to the news instead.

I bloody hate it!!

DerekSprechenZeDick · 14/09/2016 23:23

I hate it too

I've sent people weird drawings by accident and I don't know how.

I type a word and it changes to a picture!

I don't like it

WorryMcStressHead · 14/09/2016 23:25

I really like it! The words in iMessage only change to pictures if you tell them to Confused

I think the new stuff is great. But then I always get excited about a big new update so maybe I'm just a geek.

Helenluvsrob · 14/09/2016 23:27

It's worth it to finally delete the bastard stocks etc !

TotallyOuting · 14/09/2016 23:32

After updating to 9.3.5 mine stopped receiving coverage (phone and mobile internet). Tried everything. SIM works in old phone still, and DH's SIM works in this phone, so it's not that. Taking it to the shop tomorrow. I tried recovering/restoring to factory settings etc. but it just wiped the phone and left the latest iOS version on it. I'm not willing to jailbreak it or whatever the alternative is to get it to a previous version in case that gets me in trouble when trying to get it fixed/replaced. Bleh. Only had it since March.

LifeIsGoodish · 14/09/2016 23:34

I never update immediately. Always wait for at least the point one revision, if not even later.

How do you get it to stop prompting you to update?

And why do you hate the unwanted apps so much? I just bung them all on the last home screen and never swipe that far. Though TBH I'd be happier deleting them, too. Or st least bunging them all in one folder. Why can't the provided apps be put into folders, I wonder?

Boysnme · 14/09/2016 23:39

I love that I can send fireworks in an iMessage! Simple things .....

WhoKnowsWhereTheTimeG0es · 14/09/2016 23:39

I have put all the provided apps in a folder (called Unused).

DerekSprechenZeDick · 14/09/2016 23:44

The apps I don't use are in a folder called Unused Shite and I have a Used Sometimes shite folder

TheLastHeatwave · 14/09/2016 23:48

. What are stocks?

I'm not updating until they've ironed out the initial problems, I never do.

I didn't realise there were so many changes in this update. I've only just got used it as it was 😖

LifeIsGoodish · 14/09/2016 23:55

LOL I'd forgotten that I had put them in an Unwanted folder! See: out of sight and out of mind. (Must have been an earlier version of iOS that didn't allow you to put Apple aps into a folder.)

So, what's the problem with the Stocks folder?

LifeIsGoodish · 14/09/2016 23:56

I mean with the Stocks app.

MsAdorabelleDearheartVonLipwig · 15/09/2016 01:00

Well I couldn't stand the curiosity and have updated. So far so good but Jesus Christ, that bloody predictive word bar thing drives me fucking insane. I used to be able to delete it. Does anyone know a way of getting rid of it?

MsAdorabelleDearheartVonLipwig · 15/09/2016 01:08

Never mind, I found it in the settings. General - keyboard - predictive. Thank god for that.

ShelaghTurner · 15/09/2016 03:04

You can also turn it on/off by holding down the smiley face where your emojis are.

I've also had this for a while as I'm a beta tester and haven't cone across any bugs.

BunchOfBobs · 15/09/2016 03:19

But the new iMessage functions are so fun! Other than the swiping to unlock annoyance I'm loving it so far.

NightWanderer · 15/09/2016 03:47

I updated my iPhone recently and it killed my phone. I couldn't reinstall from the latest backup so ended up installing for a backup from a year ago. It's so frustrating.

Igneococcus · 15/09/2016 06:39

Our IT department sent an email around telling iPhone and iPad users NOT to update to IOS 10 as "major issues have been reported".

FeliciaJollygoodfellow · 15/09/2016 06:53

I hate iTunes, it won't let me update as apparently I need 610mb free to update.

There's over 3gb free iPhone but don't let that get in your way Confused

FeliciaJollygoodfellow · 15/09/2016 06:54

Ig - ours did too - but my iPad did it over wifi on its own. Sure I turned off that function.

WaitrosePigeon · 15/09/2016 07:39

I really like it!

Igneococcus · 15/09/2016 07:40

I don't know how it all works on iPhone felicia. I'm on Android. I just saw this thread title and was reminded of the warning and thought I share it.
I have my Android set so it doesn't just update without my approval but I'm not sure this is always working properly either.

blueskyinmarch · 15/09/2016 07:42

I usually hate updates and changes but i don’t mind the current changes at all. I updated it last night and am used to it already.

WaitrosePigeon · 15/09/2016 08:47

Me too, doesn't really look much different to be honest. When you're tapping it makes a new sound!

FeliciaJollygoodfellow · 15/09/2016 09:17

Managed to update now, but couldn't do it through itunes so did it on the phone.

I like the update! Have turned off the 'press Home to unlock' thing which is annoying (it's in Accessibility for anyone that wants to know). Worth it purely to delete all the iphone apps that I've never even opened!

PurpleWithRed · 15/09/2016 12:43

Ok, now I like it. Got rid of all those apps it comes with that you never used to be able to remove (like Stocks, and - gasp - Music) so I now actually have some free space; got used to the button unlock thing and changed the settings; send DD some awesome silly messages.
