We are moving into a new house, we need tv/internet ect. He's refusing to have sky because "the dish looks awful and it looks like a council house" 😡😡😡

He won't even discus the idea, because he also thinks I won't have time to watch tv, you know being a sahm to three!

Not sure I understand why it's a problem how the dish looks- surely you're watching the TV, not looking at the dish!

Is it not a little infra-dig to worry about such things?

Put it in a pole or on the back.

£60 a month?! Fuck me.

There are discrete satelite dishes if your dh objects to having a dish on the house. A sqish could be fitted and I bet you dh would never notice.

Council estate here. We all have cable. Oh, and a choice of two Outstanding secondaries within ten minutes drive, an organic butcher and a couple of tapas bars. It's very naice round here, actually.

does he think that people who live in council houses are lesser human beings Hmm ugh awful. How offensive.

Report
drspouse · 22/03/2016 20:50

We live in a conservation area and have Sky. No cable here.

NeedACleverNN · 22/03/2016 20:54

Hah I thought sky was a posh luxury now as it was so expensive

Report
RockUnit · 22/03/2016 20:54

I don't think the dishes are particularly attractive, but would have one if I really wanted to watch Sky.

It has nothing to do with council houses though Confused

Being uber snobby dp not you op, could you try to resell the concept at chic and European? Everyone has a dish here Smile

Report
lamiashiro · 22/03/2016 20:57

Ridiculous. We have Sky, as does everyone on the street and it's a conservation area. The dishes are all on the sides of the houses because that's the direction they need to be pointed so hardly obtrusive.

He is a twat for labelling Sky dishes as council.

Minisoksmakehardwork · 22/03/2016 20:57

Dh isn't a fan of the dishes on the front of the house, so ours is mounted on a pole at the back. But this actually made it easier for us as the rooms we wanted sky in are both at the back of the house and it saved issues with running cables through.

Congratulations, you live with a total fuckwit.

Is there anything else we can help you with?

Report
Ackvavit · 22/03/2016 21:16

What? I live in a conservation area that is really strict about the type of window frames you can have, door styles, etc. So no golden oak or white plastic etc. We are allowed sky dishes in the garden at the rear of our properties but not at the front. What are his real, reasons?

£78 a month to watch telly?? (£936 a year!!) Bleeding 'ell! I remember when my parents had sky and we spent half our time scrolling through channels when football wasn't on.
