AIBU?

To think m&s make the worst bras..

I bought some last year, within a day i had red marks where there was something irritating my skin (i searched all over that bra and couldn't find anything - al labels cut out, checked for the little plastic things, but nothing, there was just something in it that made me itchy).

I threw it away in the end. Like a fool I went back recently as i was desperate for a white bra for a job interview... I have never been so itchy, again I cut out the labels, even cut bits of lace but there was still something in it a tiny bit of the bra at the back that made me itch and turned my skin red.

I also noticed when i was driving home, every time i moved my right arm, my bra creaked...wtf? how does a bra creak? needless to say they go in the bin!

For the record i live near an outlet shop so that's the only reason I bought some as they were half price. i would never pay full price for m&s underwear, or clothes for that matter!

Does anyone else find M&S a bit like Are You Being Served?

Might just be my local one but whenever I go in there it's like shopping in the past.

m&s bras are shit, theyre so rigid, the wire has no flexibility and they always dig into my sternum

I only really buy balcony bras, I was fitted in bravissimo during pregnancy and i go every year just to see if i've changed when my weight has gone up or down.

Im back from debenhams with a ted baker set. I've had the bra on for 2 hours now and not 1 itch, not 1 bit of red skin, and a massive plus for me I just picked my size up and tried it on, fitted first time like a glove, so no more running in and out the changing rooms with a screaming toddler in m&s!

The rosie range is the only thing I adore from there, I am dying for someone to buy me the cashmere loungewear but alas dp isn't getting the hint.

Oh. Minimiser bras are shaped to smooth rather than push up and emphasise. Dsis has v small boobs and has bras that push up and maximise what she's got. The old minimiser does the opposite!

They have a huge range of bras made by lots of different brands so I find it easier to find one that fits. Not sure if they still do but they used to have ranges designed by Agent Provocateur etc.

My worst bra was from Bravissimo. They kept insisting that I needed a smaller band and a bigger cup and bloody wires! Cost a fortune and matching knickers were weeny ones or nothing, not a variety of shapes like MandS. I ended up having to pull off the motorway to take the damned thing off it was so tight and uncomfortable. Chucked it and drove home braless! Ah the relief!
I'm now in a 40C not I think 34E and non wired. I have matching waist high knickers. Can't seem to find that anywhere else.

I like m&s bras I have 6 of them.

I really like the Rosie ones. Agree re the padding - so hard to find a non-padded one, and at 32E or thereabouts, I don't need padding. The last bra I bought from there (not a Rosie one) turned out to be rubbish though - the wires started poking out and I had to throw it away after just a couple of months.

I just looked on the M&S website out of curiosity.

They have 6 bras available in my size (36F, hardly obscene) and 2 of them were 'minimiser' bras.

WTF do 'minimiser' bras do? Squash them down or something? Wouldn't that hurt ?

I've just bought five in their sale! I used to prefer Elle McPherson but the shape of M&S (certain styles) is a closer match.

The website does not fill one with confidence, mind you. Not one model is wearing the right size Hmm

I wear all M&S ones (all the same style, just different colours) and they are amazing for fit and comfort. Never been fitted by them, I checked my fitting by bra intervention method and tried on loads in that size. As for Bravissimo, they did get the size right but the bra they fitted me with was an awful fit, never again.

Same here. I thought it must just be me. I bought some that looked really soft and comfortable. They itch the heck out of me on the back but I cant for the life of me figure out what it is that's causing the problem.

I hate m and S bras, although the Rosie ones are slightly better. They all have the exact same shape!
There's never enough space in the cup under the arm pit for me. i need a wide shallow cup but m and s are all narrow and deep iyswim.

I don't find them too bad. I need padded as since having children I'm a bit lopsided!

Certain shops only cater to certain boob shapes.

Next only cater for square shaped boobs. I tried a few bras in there and they made my boobs into perfect cubes.

To add - m&s make so many different bras but i only really buy one style, the balcony ones and it's unsually in limited edition collection or the per una collection.

I find only M&S bras fit me properly. I have tried all sorts of other makes but always go back to M&S. I do get fitted their regularly and find the style does make a difference on sizing. But I know the style I like and they just fit. Never had itching or rubbing or creaking.

VoldysGoneMouldy · 12/03/2016 11:49

Are you wearing the right size? The wires digging in would suggest not. And don't trust their fittings!

They used to be quite good, shame if they've gone downhill.

It's the only place I can buy a bra straight off the shelf, even if they are ugly. I'm a 30F.

Yes to the padded thing. My fiend and I asked once, in a large M&S why every bra was made of that mounded stuff. I cannot believe that every woman wants sticky out boobs like that. There really was no answer. Mind you, I'm pretty fed up with M&S altogether these days.

SinglePringle I am an E cup in M&S, but a G cup in Bravissimo! An M&S G-cup I bought was enormous on me. I agree their sizing is out, which is why I stick with that one style that I know will be fit and be comfortable.

Yanbu. I have never felt comfortable with bras fitted there. John Lewis seem to just look at me and bring a range of bras which fit like a dream. And even their sizing seems to suit other brands apart from m&s.

I don't know how m&s size them but the backs were too big, the cups were too loose. I only had to lift my arms and a boob would drop out from under! And they were positively adamant that their sizing was correct...

Yet I've a friend who swears by m&s being the best fitters ever. So I shall continue to avoid them like the plague and she will continue to shop there.

Aside from the fact it's padded (not my taste), that Rosie bra is lovely. But only up to an E cup because M&S think a 32F is huge. The range in F and above is woeful. Plain, enormous cups and straps the size of a bridge.

And all because they don't know how to fucking measure.

I have several 'Rosie for Autograph' plunge bras in assorted colours. They fit me better than anyone else's bras.
