to think that Argos should...

Maybe get more staff for this time of year?? In the stores and on the phone. (I know in the scheme of things that this is just very petty but it is also very annoying!)

The options for Argos are;

you go into the store and either the items are out of stock or home delivery only.

you order online for a specific time (because you might like to go out) and spend an exorbitant amount of time (and money) on the phone because the order hasn't arrived...

I am currently on the verge of giving up as I have been on the phone for 35 minutes. I've got a delivery that was meant to be delivered between 7am and 10am today (my order has also been split into two deliveries 1 apparently for today another for god knows when... If they couldnt do it today why split the delivery?? Getting myself cross)

I Would have just bought it when I went to the store yesterday queue out of the door but half of the items I wanted are now "home delivery only" so much for their ads which is just great for customers. not only do they/you HAVE to pay a delivery charge its great for the environment too!! I dont normally give this much time but currently feel like I'm being held to ransom. (i wanted to do a bit more xmas shopping - most stores are closed by 4!) I'm thinking of writing a very sternly worded email. Wwyd?

Stay on the phone as I guess the delivery may arrive whilst you're out.

I've had a complete nightmare with Argos the last couple of weeks. My ten month old washing machine broke, took them six days to agree to replace it (afer an engineer came and couldn't fix it). They then missed my delivery slot on Monday with no communication whatsoever. They finally delivered the washing machine on Thursday but opened the doors of their massive van onto the bonnet of my brand new car. Just waiting to hear from their insurance department! Plus they will be getting a letter from my employer about the two days holiday I've taken at short notice and Argos have wasted.

They have shocking customer service, offer fast delivery and bargain products then fail to deliver. Apparently, they are on Watchdog next week.

I will never buy anything from them again! Rant over.

I don't shop at argos any more. They had one member of staff on the tills last Christmas and a queue that didn't move for half an hour. Eventually the assistant called for help, but by that point I'd decided to walk out.

I emailed them to complain but just got a reply about it being a busy time of year. But I wouldn't have minded if it was a long queue that was moving because people were being served!

Argos are more expensive and less efficient than most other stores.

Oh don't get me started on Argos. My local used to have about 15 chairs laid out in the waiting area and now they only have 3 (not sure why as it isn't a small ArgosHmm). Went in yesterday to get some storage boxes and was insanely busy so stood there waiting for 20 minutes, clearly heavily pregnant whilst 2 teenagers and a clearly abled middle aged man took up the 3 seats. They all looked me up and down and didn't even offer to move. I asked a member of staff if they could get me a chair and they said no because I wasn't 'disabled'. They had 3 staff on on a Saturday during Black Friday sales/pre Christmas shopping. Shocking

Argos is one of the worst shops for everything, delivery is crap, customer service is some kind of dirty word and a large percentage of the stuff I have bought in there has been faulty. I would honestly rather pay a little bit more and shop somewhere else.

It's bloody awful atm. Our store had two people behind the counter. One on till and one giving out orders to customers and speaking to warehouse onaheadset.

Queue is often a good twenty people deep.
We found doing a fast track order online the best. We ordered a bike online then went into store next day to get it. We went straight up to fast track counter and were done in five mins. The till had taken one order in that time and two people got their stuff whilst ours was coming up.

Well the first part of my delivery has JUST arrived. No apologies at all and dh had to sign a blank sheet of paper. All of this after 3 calls (totaling nearly 2 hours) an apparent road closure and a promise that I would get a call from the driver once he had finished his lunch... Call didn't happen. I have fb them (pm) and Il email later as I'm currently at a Childs birthday party gah Argos!!

They are losing money hand over fist and have opened stores in Sainsbury's and Homebase, presumably to save money on premises.

Classic though, over promise and under deliver and you'll soon have no business to run.

Aaaargh - I am getting something delivered from them on Wednesday - have re arranged things so I can be in when they arrive - these stories aren't filling me with confidence - hope they don't bugger me about.
(It's a mattress so no option of collecting myself)

Frilly biscuits that is shocking they said no because you are not disabled. Just because you are not always heavily pregnant does not mean you are not currently 'disabled' I would complain to the manager about your treatment!!!!

I was in Argos a couple of weeks ago. The service was piss poor. Staff milling about doing nothing much, leaning on shelves chatting to each other, big queue at the till and approx 1 person being served every 5 minutes. I was given an estimate of 6 mins for my item being ready but after 20 mins I was still waiting. When I pointed out to a member of staff that the service was poor I was told I should expect that at this time of year. Seriously? I should expect poor service? It wasn't Xmas eve for pity's sake, it was a Wednesday afternoon in the middle of November.

When I emailed some feedback to customer services I got a similar reply to a previous poster. In a nutshell, we're too busy to deal with your comments/query, please go away.

They are terrible. Our Sainsbury's have opened a click and collect, Argos keep sending text messages to tell us our items are in and we go down only to find that the items aren't there! Shockingly bad.

I ended up cancelling a big Argos order in protest last week after it was due for delivery and then not delivered on 3 separate days. No updates, no calls. After 25 minutes on the phone before getting someone who said they would 'reschedule' it again but with no guarantees that it would arrive, I gave up and cancelled. And it will take 10 days for a refund.
So that's me and Argos done now.

I ordered a birthday present for fast track collection in store.. apparently it was in the store already - yet, it didn't show up Confused and they won't refund 2 weeks later as 'it might still turn up'

They are rubbish. Was to have something delivered in longish slot. Got texts saying it was 'dispatched' then 'on its way' then 'not possible to deliver. No explanation, even when I rang to reschedule though they did make the planned slot that time.

I feel very sorry for their store staff at the moment. They are often trying their best and appreciate a bit of sympathy - they are vastly understaffed, the website is like a disembodied arm floating about and promising random things quite randomly, which then fail to materialise. Queues and queues of pissed off customers.

We had to drive about 10 miles away and back twice when things I'd reserved didn't turn up the first time. I got a fiver off, which I think she did by accident but she was really nice and didn't try and reclaim it - but also I couldn't use my gift card as it wouldn't scan and apparently the receipt that was stapled to it was necessary in order to process it Hmm

No one told me that.
Anyway it was sorted out in the end but what a flaming hassle.

Three tips:

  1. Don't believe the website - and be prepared that everything you have in your trolley may be unavailable for delivery once you enter your postcode (this may save you hours, if you just avoid shopping there to begin with)

  1. Have low expectations of quality - branded stuff is the same as anywhere else, but the ultra cheap shite will be just that.

  1. Keep your receipt when they give you a gift card. Apparently lots of them don't scan.

I have my talking Bing Bunny, Bullseye the horse and Minecraft lego set and I am not going back this side of January.

I've had a nightmare with Argos this week too. The goods are shoddy and their customer service is diabolical. I have vowed never to buy from them again. Customers have so many options these days unless they can turn around quickly I expect to see argos go bust within the next couple of years.

in contrast, I ordered a printer from them at 10am yesterday, and collected it from a Homebase at 3.45pm. I agree trying to find out which store actually has stock is a bit tricky, but I tend to try the out of town ones rather than town centre shops, who are generally a bit better.

I agree with you. Deirdre I do feel sorry for the staff. They are probably so disenchanted by the job because of the complaints that what difference will it make if they get another complaint... Evil Argos circle. They should get more staff generally but most definitely at this time of year.
