AIBU?

To think I have been conned!

I brought some (very cheap) Ralph Lauren clothing from a website that said it was an outlet. I paid then on my statement it shows as Beijing and I have had no shipping info (only ordered 40 hours ago). I had a confirmation email from some place called "win". Have I been stupidly conned?!

Constance you're so relentlessly unpleasant.

wow, you sound lovely constance. Hmm The OP knows she was daft and has admitted she was daft - I'm not sure what you are trying to prove by being so nasty to her about it and lol at your inept attempt at correcting her grammar.

AIBU means you can be straight talking but it doesn't entitle you to be nasty.

Constance take a fucking chill pill. Is your life that relentlessly dull that you have to hammer home a point.... She gets it....
Op there is also a good outlet in ashford Kent for Ralph bits. If there is anything in particular you need I can have a look for you when I am there....

OP - ignore the nastiness. These websites are designed to trick people, so you know for the future to be wary. Speak to your bank or credit card company and see if you can get the payment stopped.

on the front page it says this;
"For lawful rights and interests of extensive consumer of guarantee, our company ensures that what be sold a product is genuine quality products without exception."

OP

Speak to your bank ASAP they may be able to claw back the money (though you should probably mentally write it off).

Also, that site now has your card details and address so it may be wise to cancel your card.

If you are feeling particularly generous you could report the site to RalphLauren so they can get it taken down.

You were a bit naîve, but not stupid. I've nearly been caught a few times and that site wasn't all that obvious compared to some I have seen.

Hopefully this thread will give people some tips on how to spot the less obvious dodgy sites.

Whenever I see someone post the way you do, Constance, I always imagine what sort of life they must have, to need to vent their bitterness and spleen on complete strangers over something so minor. Can only assume awful.

Flowers I am so, so sorry that things are so hard for you, and hope they improve very soon.

Take note of the URL....

Easy mistake OP. Lots of Chinese companies have been doing this and often purchase URL's with minor typos and get website traffic.

I would like to add Ralph Lauren and other brands do outlet a huge amount of past season stuff so the OP isn't actually that stupid for thinking she had a bargain

One poster mentioned the cost, well I bought a couple of RL polo shirts at Bicester recently and they were only £19 each, so it is possible to buy authentic stuff cheaper. Hope you get your money back OP, easy mistake to make and no one should think badly of you for assuming the best in others.

Evening all. Just a drive-by plea for a bit of peace and love, and a thank you to those who have offered some fantastically good advice here. It's very easy to fall victim to unscrupulous 'sellers' online. Let's see a little more of that much-loved Mumsnet solidarity, eh? Hope you manage to sort it all out, OP.

At least it was just shirts, OP. A lot of selling sites have Ergos, the baby carriers, and they are fake more often than not - Ebay is crawling with fakes. The dyes can be toxic, and they are sometimes not strong enough so break under the weight of a child. Being conned is horrible, but at least you aren't looking at having something dangerous for your baby or very small child as a consequence.

Still, horrible thing to happen, and I am sorry. :(

Yes never buy an Ergo from an unauthorised retailer. Amazon is tricky as well because the sellers all register the items under the same item code, fake or not, and they get stacked together in a warehouse and you don't know if you are getting the one from the legitimate seller, or the fakey one.

I spoke to a guy who had stopped selling them through Amazon because of this. His were genuine, but his customers were randomly getting real and fake ones because of the way the website operates.

Good luck OP, bank is your first port of call - they will probably tell you to wait about 10 days to see if anything arrives, then get a written statement from an authorised retailer to say it's fake, then they can claim the money back from the seller's account.

Mine took a while, and I did get it in the end, but I kept getting spam and also dodgy emails from the company urging me to pay them again via western union as their bank had taken away the money. Sad

Aww Grin I ignored them mainly, after a couple of times where I just explained that I wouldn't be sending them any more money because they were selling fakes.

Talk to the bank on Monday and if you paid by debit card, and they say you can't claim, speak to someone else, because you definitely can, and not all of them know about it (or want to bother? maybe...)

Oh and good advice to cancel your card, if you have not already done so.
