to JUST give pancakes for dinner??

I have never done this before in my life. In my family pancakes were for pudding, after a proper dinner.

But now it's 4pm, we haven't long finished lunch, the DCs have just had a banana milkshake and I can't quite be arsed to make dinner.

My DH's family used to only have pancakes for dinner on Shrove Tuesday. I used to think this was pretty close to neglect.

What do you do?

I'm not really into savoury pancakes so do a smallish meal first. Was planning on hotdogs, but forgot to buy sausages and hotdog rolls, so ended up making macaroni cheese, which turned out to more filling than expected.

(Had pancakes yesterday, as hubby not around for a meal today)

Just pancakes here too.

I do start with sweet corn fritters and salsa first tho, before moving on to the Nutella, sugar and lemon fest

We have cheesy ones first then I have honey and lemon and himself has plain.

I do pancakes for my nieces' birthdays - cheesy then sweet - all the local kids flock to have my pancakes when I go down to visit. Apparently they are legendary.

When I was a kid pancakes were the pudding on Pancake Day, but now I'm a grown-up I have savoury ones then some sweet ones.

I'd do the same if I had kids. Any combination of cheese, spinach, ham/bacon, egg, tomato for the savoury ones. That IS a proper dinner, no?

Just pancakes here too. Same when I was a child. We eat loads and loads, there's no way anyone would have room for anything else.

Just pancakes here - we had jacket potatoes for lunch.

Never done this before though and it does seem wrong... I'll probably want a takeaway later! Blush

My kids would not even entertain the idea of savoury pancakes, and as one or possible two more or less fills them up we've always done (sweet) pancake meals. Grown ups can have cheese & ham or something if they prefer savoury. Mind you, I come from a background where sweet dishes can occasionally make up whole main meals. Pancakes, potato fritters (with apple sauce), rice pudding (not as sweet as the UK version) with fruit spring to mind.

Pancakes only here, but I'm only feeding adults (dd is on a milk only diet still)

I'm making thin crepes filled with smoked salmon, rocket and cream cheese for main. Dessert will be thick american style ones with banana, Nutella, syrup, peanut butter, ice cream and berries.

Just pancakes here with lemon and sugar. I had a big lunch. OH told to have a decent lunch as I can't be arsed doing or eating dinner after that.

We do pancakes filled with mascapone, cream cheese, pine nuts and spinach. Topped with a tomato sauce and Stilton and baked. Probably why I am on the 5:2 diet in fairness.

My pancakes have 6 eggs for a triple portion ie enough for all 4 of us. So that's protein sorted. And with fruit ontop it's one of your 5 a day.

And yes pancakes for dinner here.

Just the fritters Mermaid. Fritters and pancakes would be crazy levels of batter Smile

Thankfully, pancake day has fallen over half term this year. I made tomato and red pepper soup for lunch today so the children and I got in some of our 5 a day at lunchtime. This evening, it is pancakes and jam/nutella/lemon and sugar all the way!

There is some leftover dinner from Sunday for dh because I do feel he should have a proper meal after being at work all day.
