AIBU?

To buy a pair of ugg style boots?

I'm thinking Celtic & co ones.... Basically I want war, comfy, flat pull on boots for the school run. I know there is a vague anti-ugg sentiment on MN... If I were to get a pair, which colour would be best, chestnutty colour or black?

I can't believe how expensive Emu's are now. I got a pair of Outbacks about 5 years ago, and they were about £60 and only available from one place.

I've just looked and they're available everywhere now and they're the same price as Ugg Australia more or less.

They have lasted all this time though, just getting a bit whiffy, I might try and wash them.

The celtic ones are better quality, uggs slouch down at the back after a while. Go with made in Cornwall me ' ansom!

I'm not keen on the styling of the Celts ones. I prefer the Ugg shape.

You pay for the name with Ugg. I have a pair of knee high Jumbucks (AMAZING boots!) 2 pairs of genuine Ugg and a pair of Warmbats. The Jumbucks and Warmbats are twice the quality of Ugg, thicker, warmer and have lasted a lot longer. Sadly both are now unavailable in the UK which is gutting.

I'd always go for something like Celtic etc over Ugg.

I'm not an ugg fan, but they are warm and are good for walking about in cold weather. I am tempted by the Celtic ones, but only if they're waterproof.

Fatlazymummy- feel awful typing that by the way!

Dorothy Perkins usually make some good copies. I was lucky enough to have my real uggs bought for me(well I put a little towards them) but until then I'd bought Dorothy Perkins ones.

eBay is quite good also

I think I'll get a pair this winter. Can't see what the objection to them is. Considering how many other awful things people wear.

I have the chestnut uggs and love them.

YANBU. Boots should be comfortable and warm - who gives a fuck if some people think they look hideous?
Can't afford uggs/celts myself, so will look in River Island.

I used to hate them (and in particular the "ugg shuffle" favoured by teen girls) but I've come round and I think I will get some celtics this winter. :)

Celts are amazing. Made in Cornwall too.

I have the regular Celts that LittleMiss linked to in Blue Iris with brown leather reinforced heels.

Even DH likes them because they are clearly different from a normal Ugg.

Also I have waterproofed them and have a special brush to remove dried mud etc. If they get too mucky they can be machine washed plus Celtic has a resoling service

They have not left my feet this week...

I have Bearpaws, found them cheap years ago but have only worn them once, I think the school run this winter will see more use.
However I had a pair of bearpaw slide on slipper last winter, didn't last at all, but they were comfy and warm.

Well if you must but aren't fake uggs made from raccoon dog? I remember seeing a video of them being skinned alive for them.

Personally I think they're 'orrible boots but apparently keep your feet warm even if you can't get them wet :D

Yabu.

They are hideous. Might as well do the school run in your slippers.

I've just impulse-bought those Celtic ones in mocca online. They look so comfy. I'm newly pregnant, exhausted and constantly running after toddler DD, and these boots will save me Grin

I thought uggs were the preserve of teenagers.

Is this AIBU? Yes you are.

The Celtic ones look better.

When I see someone in Uggs I assume they're the cheap knockoffs. I guess because I lived on a really tough estate in a shit town when they became really popular.

The Celtic ones look classier.

I'd get married in mine

I hated and scorned them until I tried them on

I've been in them every day since except bar a day or two at the beach in flip flops

Last time I bought proper uggs I managed to rip the front within a week

I was not happy

I find river islands version are sturdy and at £30 if I rip them I don't care!

I suffered for years with cold feet as I have Reynauds syndrome. I really was in agony ith chilblains and my feet would go purple then white.

I invested in a pair of Celts and they really have changed my life. If my feet are warm my whole body is warm and I feel so much better.

Buy from Celtic and support British sheep farmers!
