AIBU?

To hate Lidl.

Because thanks to them and their unbelivably tasty selection of Christmas treats such as the chocolate gingerbread and the marzipan mini stolen bites, I'm probably going to make Henry viii look like Barbie come January.

Their cake things and chocolate have always been divine but I made the fatal mistake of buying some stuff "just to try" and have now eaten most of it.

Too good.

I'm definitely paying a little visit to Lidl this week.

Will have to investigate all these Christmas wonders.

My Dutch granny used to bring Speckulaa biscuits back when she went to see her sisters, I missed them so much after she died. My joy when I found them there, in Lidl, only 20 minutes drive away, was indescribable. I buy about 10 packs each year as they are only in stock in the run up to Christmas.Sad

I bought a poppy seed stollen last week and so far have resisted opening it. Have had to hide the chocolate money (for stockings) to prevent DCs and DH from eating it!

So far I've resisted the Christmas stuff (except for chocolate money and Christmas pasta shapes) but I am feeling weak and powerless in the face of their stollen and marzipan. It's only a matter of time before I cave.

Our local one is a very depressing shopping experience Name, I do have to grit my teeth and get in and out quick. I think there are different Lidls. Grin

I was in Sainsburys today. Have they doubled their prices or something? I was Shock Usually go to Asda/Morrisons/Lidl.

I opened this thread prepared to convince the OP she was mad not to like Lidl. Grin

Spiced Gingerbread biscuits were going to be one of my key reasons.

That and the fact that our weekly shopping bill has gone from £110 to £60 since we decamped from Sainsburys. Wink

I love lidl too, but can't bring myself to buy any sneeze pastries.

I was hoping that this thread would put me off going as is a bit of a trek for us. Instead I want to go sooner. I must wait until Friday, I must wait until Friday, I must wait until Thursday?

Mmmmm...poppy seed crusty bread, bresaola (for a fraction of the price it is in sainsburys) and buckets of Greek yoghurt.

And don't get me started on the snacks cracky crackers and crusty croc snacks (rustles bag)

I had to make a complaint to a member of staff at our local Lidl.

The in-store bakery had just started and the smell of freshly baked croissants, pains au chocolat, baguettes, apple turnovers and so on was far too tempting Grin

Yes to the Lebkuchen, the stollens big and small, the chocolate.
BIG yes to the new instore bakery so that I have more of a choice what lovely bread should carry my morello cherry jam to my mouth.

I just got back from lidl (100 yards from my house too). They are removing most of their cheaper brands to make way for premium brands. Lidl is meant to be cheaper Sad

Lidl is amazing and most of their stuff is really good quality, I don't get some of the snobery in the UK about it, it is just a regular supermarket in Germany.

Lidl is amazing......such fab quality stuff already bought a panatone (not too sure about spelling) and a mini choc Santa for DDs teacher. Their chilled lasagne is delicious too.

I read the title and was all ready to throw (nice, German) biscuits and shout YABU YABU!

But no!

The mini stollen bites! The fat polish smoked sausages! The cheap yet amazing quality chocolate! The newly installed bakery section! And the Square of Treasure!
