Usually on tablet either mumsnet or wikipedia etc. Then usually zzzzzz

I've always had something playing to go to sleep. Radio, audiobooks, TV whatever. Always have done ever since I was a child. I can't go to sleep in silence my brain is too active I need the distraction.

Get sleepy podcast and it is on YouTube. It’s a amazing! Uploads of sleep stories. I honestly fall asleep 95% of the time before the story finishes.

ASMR videos on YouTube - I like hair brushing ones

earsup · 08/09/2022 23:20

I listen to audio books....about 8 hours long....never get past 20 mins...am asleep....

popandchoc · 08/09/2022 23:25

I listen to sleep casts on headspace . Help me a lot

Sparklingbrook · 08/09/2022 23:27

Southern ASMR , Mary is who you need. She’s brilliant. Her voice is very soothing. Not the usual tapping and brushing just her talking and tidying the shelves in Dollar Tree. 🥱😴

StrayGoose · 08/09/2022 23:29

I get Alexa to play the "thunderstorm " -- it's brilliant, or I listen to Jonathan Foust (Buddhist talk) or a sleep app called Sleep with Shazzie

I have the calm app and play sleep music. Have found one that works every time

Jadetreesbringluck · 08/09/2022 23:43

Nothing much happens - bedtime stories for grown ups. Love it!

RightDressingDown · 08/09/2022 23:49

Always, mostly Radio 4 for insomnia. Naps in the afternoon, I need the tv on but weirdly that has to be homes under the hammer or the homes in the sun type thing - I wouldn’t normally watch stuff like that - I suspect I have ADD - not sure if that’s related?

Starfishswimmer · 08/09/2022 23:49

Thanks so much for your tips
very kind of you

I’ve listened to Stephen fry blue gold a few times and that has helped but I’ve listened to it so many times now it’s less distracting for me

The honest guys channel on YT, in particular this guided sleep meditation has worked to help me fall asleep 9 out of 10 times.

MrsG2be · 08/09/2022 23:52

Sleepcove on Spotify. It's guided sleep hypnotherapy/mediation. It's amazing. It helped me so much especially with my anxiety at night: fast asleep in seconds. Highly recommend.

Classic Carleton Hobbs Sherlock Holmes on Radio 4 always makes me sleep. Something so comforting about those voices.

MinnieMountain · 09/09/2022 06:57

I listen to the Fortunately podcasts on Radio 4. They have soothing voices but it’s also interesting if I can’t sleep. And there’s about 200 of them 😁

CousinKrispy · 09/09/2022 07:14

Several different things:
Some Aussie called Michael Sealey who does "sleep hypnosis"

Greg Wagland of Magpie Audio reading all of Sherlock Holmes

Hugh Fraser reading Agatha Christie

David Suchet reading the Bible

I dredge all these up via YouTube.

I also have a "rain sounds" app.

Malifi50cent · 09/09/2022 13:26

My vote goes to Michael Sealey too! Loads of his recording are avatars on YouTube. He's ace

Malifi50cent · 09/09/2022 13:27

Available not avatars!
