Do you have a lovely summer duvet?

I need a summer duvet, I want it to be all soft and floaty like a cloud but I'd prefer it not to be feathers.
It's a duvet minefield out there, any recommendations?

I've got linen quilt cover set from IKEA. It was itchy the first couple of washes but the older it gets, the softer it is. It was inexpensive, so that might be why it was itchy.
I'm menopausal, would a wool duvet help? ( Although the Soak and Sleep silk duvet I have is lovely)

I recently got a 13.5 tog from Julian Charles and it is so light so highly recommend this make , plus it was 70% off.

I ended up getting the duvet, two bed sets, 2 pack pillows and a v pillow all for under £70.

I think it would have been over £200 full price.

I got this last year and love it. Very light and floaty

Silk definitely heavier than wool.

I have a silk filled duvet. I hate it.

It's not "cloud like "as the Breathe one from The Fine Bedding Company is.
I regret purchasing the silk filled duvet from Soak and Sleep. For me it was a total waste of money. It's flat- no bounce or softness to it.
I also had silk duvet covers but they shredded in the 40*wash, I stuck my feet through them and had to be binned after about 2 years. Sad
I miss the silk duvet covers but they are too expensive to replace. SadSad

I had silk until I thought about the ethics of how they are made...

I don't use a duvet in the summer, just sheets

Sluj
They are definitely soft and they have a rumpled look, which I really like.
I find them cool in summer and really snuggly in winter.
They have a cool, louche David Niven vibe that I'm very keen on.

But are linen sheets soft and creased all the time? Would you say they are cooler Bigbirdsbird?

I like the look of the Fogarty Touch Of Silk duvet but out of stock right now

Sluj, linen sheets are just lovely, so comfortable

John Lewis is currently doing a hollow fibre double one for ten pounds!

I just bought a 1 tog Fogarty king-size duvet from Dunelm (£27). Have only just put it on the bed but it feels very nice and light and hopefully I won't sweat any more (previous duvet 4.5 tog and I sweat like a pig all year round)

Silk sounds interesting . Is it very light? I am considering linen sheets too in an effort to be cool at night but I am worried they may be rough (like linen clothes) or too creased (like linen clothes).

We have a John Lewis summer duvet, it is absolutely lovely, so soft & light like sleeping under a marshmallow. If that makes any sense! Can’t remember the price exactly, I am sure it wasn’t very expensive.

We bought the most expensive duvet we could afford. The things we looked for were

It came in 2 parts, 4 and 9 tog.
The cover was good quality
It washed easily
It was very lightweight

When it arrived we thought we'd made a mistake. The 2 together weighed less than our old 4 tog. But it is lovely and warm in winter and very cool in summer. Though we do alsohave a cotton sheet for summer and a blanket for my feet in winter.

We are currently under the sheet with the 4 tog at the bottom of the bed for that 4am temperature drop!

It has been well worth the rather eye watering price... I'm peri menopausal...

I'm ashamed to say I've been on an all year round 10.5 tog for the last few years.
I think I really need to up my duvet game.

4.5 tog here in NE Scotland. I have had it on now for a month, replacing the 9.5 for winter . But then I am menopausal 😂

We have a summer weight wool duvet (counter intuitive I know) which we use year round and yes, we have the window open too. We do add a wool blanket on the coldest nights. I love the wool duvet and would never go back, other than to check out silk.

I have a lovely silk one from John Lewis. 3 tog, I put a blanket on top of it if the weather is unseasonably cold.

I have a 4.5 and use it year round. I do wear PJ's.
Dh however freezes and has a single to add on top of him, a 10 and uses it year round.
