The point you are missing is we don't fear all men the same. Being alone with a old man or gay man or well dressed man or trans woman doesn't inspire the fear in people on the ground hence the support of trans women.

JKR's generalisations about men don't work in reality when it comes to personal experiences. Context matters.

I must admit I was struggling with this too. Are we supposed to let old men, gay men and well-dressed men into our toilets and changing rooms too? Do they even want to be there?

which seems starkly different to what you reframe it as an inch below, in women's experience shapes their perceptions.

In fact... Maybe what we're seeing here is a Greek god complex? You know, arbitrary, capricious and sometimes just a bit... hard to follow...?

That's interesting. So you felt that that immensely complex and subtle difference (think, inequality, education, immigration, race, &, above all, associated discrimination etc.) is sufficient to generalise about what does / "doesn't inspire fear in people" (your words)...

But you don't think the near-100% difference between males and females in propensity to commit sex crime is sufficient to generalise accordingly for safeguarding purposes?
