Feeling inadequate about my body because of the trans ideology

Hi everyone! It's my first post on this forum because I'm so desperate to find at least some support and to feel seen, I feel like I'm the only woman in world who has this issue and it's so distressing, and since this forum is one of few gender critical ones, I'm here.

I want to say in advance that I have nothing against trans people, I'm fully supportive of them, I think they're people that deserve love and help. But this doesn't align with my feelings about my body. I've always been a little different from other women. Not completely masculine but tall (5'8), fairly straight body type, with moderate body hair. Also I have tuberous breasts which make me feel like I'm not womanly enough because I want to have a child in future and I want to breastfeed but tuberous breasts can be an obstacle in longer breastfeeding. Those all features make me feel less womanly. And it's so upsetting. But what makes me even more self conscious and sad is that I share some common features with trans women. And it makes me so sad when people compare women like me and trans women who are biologically males. I feel like my womanhood is fragile, that I am not that different from a biological male that takes HRT. I'm so scared of voicing this opinion because people would go "why are tou disgusted by the fact that you abd trans women share similar features? Trans women are women!". But I'm gender critical. So for me it's actually all backwards. It's that the fact that a male can realistically change his body to look more like mine and my unconventional features being used to prove that trans women are real women too that makes me so distressed. To the point I actually don't consider i have breasts, even though they're moderately sized and noticeable, I just feel like I'm not me.

I'm sorry if I offended someone. I'm just so sad and upset about how i feel about my body. I hope at least one wan here feels the same. I don't feel seen at all and everything on the internet makes me feel bigoted. Thank you!

And I even have a job and don't spend my time on forums telling everyone about my tits.

Or pretend to be a new poster who doesn't understand how to write idiomatic English.

I also don't have "moderate" body hair, it's thick and luscious 😂

God sorry I didn’t assume that. Because if it was. You’d be a MAN

FrodoBiggins · 16/10/2026 23:53

Completeme · 16/10/2026 23:52

That’s because they’re not tuberously special.

and you’re clearly not 5’8

My mum would want me to add that I was uninjured, she felt very bad, and I went on to get four university degrees. And I even have a job and don't spend my time on forums telling everyone about my tits.

Lol. My mum actually did drop me down the stairs as a baby (by accident!) so I didn't have that much of a comeback to that 😂

No one specifically told me i look like one but certain features are called manly by people on the internet. I've seen tuberous breasts being compared to gynaecomastia. Let's say I don't feel very happy about that

Tuberous breasts are not gynacomastia. They still have milk ducts. Some women with them can still breast feed.

I've been mistaken for a 'transwoman'! Not in the UK, but in places where women are smaller and TW are historically part of the culture. I'm also 5'8, rectangular and have PCOS.

Can't say it bothered me; I found it funny. But there was a period, while I was heavily involved in campaigning for sex realism, when I started to feel funny about my body and my femaleness. I was quite immersed in all the TRA arguments about 'womanhood' and the crap they spout at high volumes. It coincided with my menopause, which brought rapid changes in my appearance and spotlighted hormonal issues. With my own identity evolving amidst a constant stream of TRA-led edicts on what a woman is, I was vulnerable to confusion and it did throw me off balance.

Two things helped me fix it. First and most importantly, I have PCOS because I have ovaries (well, one ovary now!) No man has ovaries, whatever he calls himself. No woman has ever produced sperm. A woman is simply the female of our species: it's a reproductive category, not some confection of tits, hair and satin. I'm a female human; I'm a woman.

I look ridiculous in 'feminine' clothes, like someone's lace curtains blew onto the garden shed 😂 Instead of thinking of myself as analogous to those idiot blokes posing in pink tutus at shopping centres, I revived my interest in fashion - an almost-forgotten passion of mine - and am still having a lot of fun with it. I mean, I never did dress 'like a girl' so the analogy was a non-starter, but it got into my head because I was vulnerable.

One of the things I'd learned during extensive therapy, years ago, was the value of my personal likes and dislikes, my aims and abilities; a sense of my uniqueness. I re-embraced all of that and discovered I do actually like myself. My sex is an important part of who I am; it's not all I am. And no twat waffling on about 'womanhood' and social constructivism can re-define me or anyone else.

There's a million ways to be a woman. None of them include being a man! I'm fine, you're fine, they're okay but they're nuts 🤷‍♀️

That's a manifesto! A brilliant one. 🤣🤣🤣

OP, I can't empathise, being a bloke (with minor moobs I used to worry about but now feel rather protective of) but I sympathise. One thing: you can't really be told you need or don't need therapy; only you know. If this business is causing you significant unhappiness, then you may feel you want therapy, rather than "need" it, as if it were some corrective process to make you "normal". There is no normal, and I mean that.

I'm biologically male but I don't really conform to the norms. I've got a bunch of attributes and attitudes that can be described as feminine and I'm very glad that I do. I think they make me a more interesting, more aware man. You're a woman, not some confection of tits, hair and satin - oh @GarlicEverything thank you for that! - just as I'm not a confection of knob, beard and jockstrap. Heaven forbid! Let the transwomen be who they are, they've been on a journey. I very much doubt it's anything like yours. Best of luck.

Not sure why the OP thinks that trying to take the piss out of UK spellings on a UK site is a winning strategy.

ETA - plus the namecalling.

And the fake breasts.

For some reason, I thought of this song.

Sorry, I must be patient with you because your mum repeatedly dropped you when you were a baby and now she's got a dumbass daughter

Well aren't you a charmer @Starsandmoonlight1

Or work on building a healthy self image, and being accepting of oneself and your body as it is via therapy.

That too. But there’s only so much therapy can do and it clearly bothers her so much that she’s comparing herself to a trans person . There’s nothing bad or wrong about having surgery to correct a part of us that we don’t like.

I think there maybe some confusion here.

Trans women aren't saying what makes them women is HRT breasts. Trans people describe them selves as trans gender not trans sexual. Gender is the socially constructed set of roles, behaviours. expression, and norms that a given society considers appropriate for men, women, girls, boys, and gender-diverse people. So in essence what trans women say makes them a woman is societal notions of woman hood that they identify with. It's a psychological & cultural identification not a physical one.

That some trans people may medically change their bodies as a result of this identification is more about an expression of their psychological inclinations. Its no different from cis women medically enhancing their bodies as an expression of their inclinations towards feminine aesthetics or cis men accentuating their muscles at the gym for the same reason.

Self identification is a personal statement about how an individual’s inclinations fits in to societal standards. It's not meant to be a one size fits all.
