There is literally no money to accommodate trans fantasists.

Exactly. The idea that a handful of dysphoric men should be prioritised over all women is ridiculous.

In practice, it won't happen. The NHS is broken and on its knees.

I recently had emergency surgery. Crammed in a corridor with literally hundreds of people, my nurse unable to locate a drip stand, prep for surgery done in a cubicle divided into two cramped spaces, left on a random ward while still asleep post-surgery, recovery on a two-bed Critical Care ward.

There's literally no room to accommodate transphobia.

Thank you for clearly confirming you support the exclusion of women who will not submit to and subordinate themselves to men. Even while ill in hospital.

Now we all know exactly what 'transphobia' means in your terms, and exactly what your values are.

He's just being ridiculous now...

He's tempting fate here I think. Just asking for a massive heart attack or RTA. I would never dare make such a statement. I KNOW it would come back to haunt me.

Stunning and brave indeed

  • Autocorrupt tried to change RTA to TRA which is apposite I suppose

What’s your view on women and men sharing prison cells? If you don’t want sex segregation.

I find the previous post a strange objection, too. There's refusal to take up the constant mantle of the victim, or to see every man we come into contact with as representing an imminent risk. That's simply sensible; it's called getting on with our lives.

But the absolute denial that men, as a demographic, are responsible for the vast overall percentage of sexual crime and that women are equally overwhelmingly victims of that crime isn't mass paranoia, nor a victim mentality, nor a moral panic. It's a statistical, quantifiable fact. As a demographic, one sex poses a disproportionate risk to the other. That is the reality in which we live.

VAWG has overtaken all other feminist 'waves' as the most urgent and pressing issue affecting women of our times. It's hard to square an obstinate denial of this reality with being in any way 'feminist'.

The caller who said single sex wards need to be abolished so that trans people aren't discriminated against has really laid bare what women are expected to put up with to accommodate men.

Let them speak. Loudly, at every occasion. The more they say, the worse it gets for them. Eventually everyone who has a conscience and a brain will see this for what it has always been: a lot men who don't want women to have any rights at all.

That sounds like a horrible experience, you have my sympathy.

I don't disagree that the NHS is on its knees and your experience isn't unique. However, overspill only happens when wards are full and if women's beds are taken up with men that's doubly shit.

I know how intolerably distressing it would have been when my mum was a long-term patient in the stroke ward, with all its distress and indignity, if there had been male patients in that very enclosed and intimate space. Saying that we just shouldn't bother with basics like single sex spaces because resources are stretched to breaking point is, frankly, daft.

Not sure what you are arguing here.

If not budget is available for additional provisions, then existing single sex provisions will need to be used. And when they are not, people will have clear guidance on how to approach this legally. Such as the Darlington nurses did.

It really isn’t that hard to understand that there is no wiggle room here for not following the guidance. As has been playing out in court now for a few years.

Webberly is talking so much shite. Unsurprisingly. Not so long ago it might have been accepted without question but thankfully the genie is further out of the bottle now and even JV is a bit bolder in pushing back than he used to be.

I'm not sure that she is entirely helpful to the cause she claims to support...

Whereas I can confirm that cancer wards are still organised around sex.

So glad she brought up the wholly inappropriate racial segregation issue. Shameful to compare that to trans rights.

👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼 Hadley Freeman.

Yes Helen Webberley, men are a risk to women.

Also going to be discussed on Jeremy Vine’s lunchtime R2 show, trailed ominously, with the question ‘is this the right decision?’

In the past he’s quite often had extreme porn advocate Jane Fae on as a guest, arguing why he should be allowed access to women’s spaces and protesting about being denied. I wonder if he’ll be called on today - I suspect he’s less of a go-to now there’s more scrutiny on the ideology of ‘inclusion without exception’.

I just hope someone answers the question 'is this the right decision' with Of course it is but this is Jeremy Vine much weeping, awailing and renting of garments will no doubt be the fare.

I fully expect Jeremy Vine to put on his most pained and concerned face for all those men who now can't get their jollies by being placed on female wards or accessing women's changing rooms, such a sad, sad state of affairs.

WinterTrees · 16/10/2026 11:42

(Sorry Hannah, didn’t refresh and cross posted)

Will be discussed on Jeremy Vine in 30 mins. Bracing myself for ‘be kind’.

Swerve.

brownbootsandhats · 16/10/2026 11:15

Authentic

based on facts
done traditionally
undisputed origins

so I think i was using the work correctly unlike someone I could mention

nicepotoftea · 16/10/2026 11:10

Doesn't queer theory render authenticity bedside the point?

ETA: is bedside a typo or intentional? - that is for you to decide.

TheywontletmehavethenameIwant · 16/10/2026 11:07

brownbootsandhats · 16/10/2026 10:35

Things can be authentic experiences without being material world correct

I can have a great dream - it’s a true experience
it’s relevance to the real world is negligible

someone can truly believe they are fat. It’s authentic . If they have anorexia it’s untrue. If they are overweight it is true. Both have the same authentic feeling. But we treat them differently

edit - becuase we are not a computer simulation ?

Edited

You don't have to believe in being fat, it's a material thing so it can be measured, nothing to do with authentic.
Some people have dreams in which they flew like a bird, does that make it an authentic experience of flying like a bird, because they dreamt it they really did it. 🫤
