Here’s more men who will nobly choose death:

“I know one friend who has a heart condition and has already said she would refuse hospital admission if it meant she would be outed.”

“If it’s death or a men’s ward I will choose death.”

Someone replies to the above:

“If you're young. Please don't. Let us old fuckers do that protest on your behalf instead.”

It’s the passing of the martyrdom baton that sends me! 😂
“Please young one. Let us old fuckers die on the men’s ward for you.”

Young one is physically restrained while screaming “NOOOO IT SHOULD HAVE BEEN ME!”

Given that exogenous oestrogen may well increase the risk of heart issues in men, that seems a pretty foolhardy approach.

Plus how is he going to do his martyring if the younger one falls ill? Medical issues aren't something one consciously chooses to have, and they certainly aren't something one can have on behalf of someone else.

You can’t be outed if placed in a private ward because people are put in them all the time and for all kinds of reasons

I was once - no idea why - but it was nicer and quiet

I got a private ward after my 2nd childbirth. Absolutely fucking bliss. Cannot believe anyone would object!

@LesbianNana
I think that The Great Hospital Martyrdom of 2026 is a great title for a stage play. Or possibly a musical. Definitely a musical. It will involve a lot of theatrical crying and collapsing, twirling parasols, tantrums, several competing false soprano solos performed at once and mounds of blood soaked corpses but will have no proper ending. Rather it will tail off as the actors drift off the stage and the audience boos and throws (clean) moon cups at them.
Within a few weeks nobody will remember anything about it.

Seriously, on Reddit yesterday there was one comparing himself to the brave girl scattering leaflets for the White Rose movement.

Beyond disgusting and delusional.

The Great Hospital Martyrdom of 2026 will come to a screeching halt the minute somebody actually has chest pains. 😂

How long will it be until there is a study about all the lives lost because of single-sex hospital wards? “Doctors are killing us by making us think about the treatment we said we would refuse!”

flumpkeu · Yesterday 09:11

My favourite post on Reddit yesterday was from a fella who said he refused to be placed on the “grubby men’s ward”, so you get it dear?!

Oh, it will happen! Because we'll be suing the living shit out of them with lawsuits galore. Best you believe it!

There is literally no reason why we should accommodate femphobia, misogynistic bigotry or predatory behaviour.

Speaking my language! This is my hill, and I expect that mine will be one of those tribunals that MN discusses in the future, if NHS Wales does not change their ways. Bring it on.

They were fine with this happening to women, they have been for years, and would love to go back to this business of it happening to women.

Why the sudden panic if that was not ok?

It wasn't as if anyone was going to make alternative arrangements for women either.

It'd be very interesting to see how public opinion has changed since the SC judgment and the protests of various trans identifying men.

I suspect that Operation Let Them Speak has done a marvellous job.

ArabellaScott · 16/10/2026 23:25

Grammarnut · 16/10/2026 22:45

The BBC covered it yesterday. It was all about how trans people would be affected. Not a word about women.

Well, it's not working. All the comments across social media are very, very clear.

Overwhelmingly, people think that the SC was corrent, and that women are entitled to single sex spaces.

People are not falling for the story anymore.

Grammarnut · 16/10/2026 22:45

Waiting to see how and when the BBC, Guardian, and others cover this change - if they do!

There’s another thread entitled „ physios“ but as I’m interested in what other peoples healthcare unions are posting in response, this is the Chartered Society of Physios spiel where of course it’s all about trans exclusion
”The CSP continues to oppose trans exclusion in healthcare settings. We will be updating our advice for members on providing single sex services to reflect the guidance.
Employers must review and update risk assessments before introducing any changes to working practice that affect health, safety and wellbeing of members.
However, we are concerned that this will lead to trans exclusion, therefore we urge NHS trusts in England to pay particular attention to the sections covering the obligations towards trans patients and to look for gender neutral solutions where possible.
We recognise that this guidance is deeply concerning for transgender members and patients who continue to be at risk of facing hostility or exclusion in spaces aligned with their biological sex both in their workplace and whilst receiving treatment. For individuals who may be forced to 'out' themselves at work or whilst receiving treatment this raises additional fear of harassment, humiliation or physical danger.“
l’m all for a good risk assessment but loving the ironic statement about “ Employers must review and update risk assessments before introducing any changes to working practice that affect health, safety and wellbeing of members”…..how many risk assessments were done on women using supposedly single sex spaces or services compromised by trans inclusion?

There’s no mention of this at all on the RCN website 🙄

BiologicallyNebulous · 16/10/2026 21:30

LadyHelenaThistle · 16/10/2026 07:49

Well. I can only hope all the other institutions who have seemingly been stonewalling are in fact beavering away at replacing their nonsense policies with sane and legal ones.

I got sent the revised guidance first this this morning by our Chief Nurse and have volunteered to rewrite our policy.

I’m fuming that I forgot to bring my laptop home as would have happily have worked on it all weekend.

Well the post I was replying to was not about rape, it was about cis and trans women sharing a space. Which kinda struck me as "penis in vicinity = getting pregnant" and also "trans woman = rape" which I take issue with.

Women HAVE been assaulted, harassed, flashed, and raped by the experiment of permitting men into women's wards. It's happened. The ones who are rapists don't come with t shirts annoucing it; there's no picking them out. If you let any men in at all, then sooner or later you're going to inevitably get one of these men who proved they are not a safe group. It's the 'here's a box of chocolates, one will seriously injure you but I'm not telling you which one, help yourself' thing. Why on earth do you think women should sign up for that?

I can only assume you think that women hurt, raped and harassed is worth it in the name of letting in the whole group?

It's disingenuous too, as you know perfectly well from hanging around here, the distress and harm a man can cause a woman just by being in a room where she is vulnerable, exposed, feeling awful, or not able to be in a mixed sex space, means he could be a saint, the loveliest and safest of all men, and still cause harm because women's single sex spaces need to be single sex.

Thank God the law and policy (affirmed after women had to drag all this through court and prove the above) prevents people with these awful views of women subordinating and oppressing them in their men's rights activism, and such opinions on the internet are just opinions on the internet.

HousePlantEmergency · 16/10/2026 20:41

Good fucking god.
Some of the posters on this thread are so utterly disgusting.

I know what it feels like to feel unbearably vulnerable in a women's ward (as I'm sure a huge number of women here do to) being examined by a group of male physicians for one of my collection of gynaecological problems.

At one point while I was lying on my side in a bed pre surgery, with nothing on below the wait, my leg cocked up against the wall like an animal, with an inspection light shining on my genitals, I had four different male physicians come to examine me and compare their findings. Three of them at the same time at one point.

It was so unpleasant, and so undignified and I felt incredibly vulnerable even though I knew these men were medical professionals, and if I wanted help and quickly, I just needed to suck it up, and demanding female professionals was more than likely going to prolong my pain and circumstances.

Thank god when I returned from surgery I was on a ward with women. To consider the alternative is just so barbaric I don't have the words.

*too

'we give the ick to a couple of well-connected, powerful, and endless-funded bigots'

So men think that women who are afraid of men are motivated by 'ick'.

Yet again, they reveal just how little they understand women, women's experiences, and women's motivations.

Yet again, they reveal just how little they understand women, women's experiences, and women's motivations.

Do they seriously think we want to be able to choose to be away from men just because we don’t fancy them?

We all live in a world where men commit 98% of sex crimes, kill their intimate partners or former partners at an astonishing rate, force their opinions about our freedoms/ bodies/ lives on us for millennia, etc etc ad infinitum and they think we don’t always want to be around them because they don’t turn us on?

Oh you're back. Excellent. Perhaps you could now answer the point raised by me and other posters about "people being who they say they are": can a white person identify as black? Is that OK according to your viewpoint?

Don’t be silly that’s COMPLETELY different. No one can explain why of course, but it is.

I hear you LadyHelena

Or the immediate, primal and wholly instinctive release of that fear the moment you realise the person who has entered a space, such as a car park in early morning, in which you are alone and vulnerable, is a woman. That instinct is specific to those who have experienced what happens to someone in possession of female biology when a man judges he can exert his felt entitlement to use it in a situation he thinks he can get away with.

The post to which you were replying read

nicepotoftea · Today 08:06
I don't consider spaces with trans and cis women mixed. I consider them women's spaces, which I prefer to SSS, because I don't go in for bioessentialism
’bioessentialism’ here meaning ‘recognising how mammals reproduce’.
Can you not see that while this argument might be popular on certain parts of Reddit and bluesky, it self destructs on contact with reality? At best it suggests a lack of concern for anyone’s rights.
=+=+=+=+=+=+=+
totino · Today 08:31
So is a penis like Chekov's gun? If it's introduced in a situation, it must go off? Is pregnancy unstoppable? Obviously, getting someone pregnant against their will is one of the most heinous and immoral disgusting things someone could possibly do, but is this a foregone conclusion?
=+=+=+=+=+=+=+

You are not absolved of making a truly objectionable comment which was not actually a reply to what the previous poster had written. You are the one yattering about penises and pregnancy, not nicepotoftea. What nicepotoftea did was reply to your assertion that you consider women's single sex spaces to be "mixed" because in your view TIMs are entitled to occupy them, without mentioning either penises or pregnancy, both of which were non sequiters introduced by you.

The distinction was being drawn between bioessentialism being related to sex at birth, and for example to race at birth; these are bioessential because neither characteristic is able to change just because the person of one sex or the other, or one race or another, would like to to do so.
