Old Vic toilets change

I went to the Old Vic theatre last night and was pleased to see they have changed the signage on their toilets to mens, womens and then two separate unisex/accessible individual rooms with washing facilities and proper doors.

Last time I went there were very unclear signs with pictures, and words saying stuff like 4 stalls, 5 urinals. And in the women's toilets, some confused and embarrassed men who hadn't realised they were the women's toilets.

Hope the same is happening elsewhere and other venues are realising their attempts at right-on 'inclusivity' are a mistake and nearly everyone wants/needs/legally requires single sex toilets.

Might think about going there again then. Last time was some years back and then I just took them off the list of places I'd go to.

Does anyone know when they changed the signs? I am presuming the cubicle doors are right down to the floor still - this will be the vestiges of ‘gender neutral’ design.

Very recently. I was there less than a month ago, and they were still the ‘cubicles’/‘cubicles with urinals’ nonsense.

Good news - now let’s see the rest start obeying the law (with a particularly hard stare at Southwark Playhouse which simply took the signs off the door and where none of the cubicles close properly).

Yes, good news. I enjoy eating out and going to theatre, cinema, concerts etc. But I rarely return to a venue or restaurant that has unisex toilets, simply because there are enough others that have separate men's and women's. The only exception is tiny cafes or venues that clearly only have room for one.

Good news.

Good, I might go there again, depending on what's on. Been avoiding the place when in London.
