Teacher upset with my child questioning about trans child

Was Called into school today.
My daughter has just started reception in September, it’s a lovely village school, and she’s made lots of friends and settled in really well.

Yesterday I was called into have chat with her teacher.
Was informed my child has a trans girl in her class, and that my child is questioning the teacher every day about this.
That all the other children accept this child was born in the wrong body, yet my daughter is questioning ‘too much’.

I said we encourage curiosity amongst our children, so am
not surprised.

The teacher then said that my child was taken to one side and read a couple of books :
My name is Jazz
and one about a crayon that feels like a different colour.
Which was astonishing to me, because really singling out a child to (as the teacher said ) “Get her on board”, feels very pushy.

My daughter is very kind, and plays with all the children in the class including the trans girl.
The teacher is not concerned with unkindness, but that my daughter is not accepting enough, and she has asked us to reiterate pronouns and that this child is a girl.

This is the first school experience for us, as previously my daughter was at a childminder

It feels very wrong to single out a child, and read books that introduce a concept that we haven’t broached with our children yet.

@Lacksie you seem obsessed with genitals! You can usually tell by face shape and how they move as to whether they are male or female. And OPs child is obviously correct about the child being a boy if she is being told off for misgendering him. And the teacher is also using books to indoctrinate her into thinking you can be born in the wrong body

Not at 4/5 you bloody can't!

Yes, yes you can.

Oh give over.

Are you ok? 😬

We might ask you the same question because you’ve been pushing this nonsense throughout the thread.

Well it would appear that you can, given the number of threads recently about similar issues to OP’s. If children really can’t tell the difference at this age then there shouldn’t be a problem. Oh, wait………………..

Lacksie · 10/10/2026 09:38

Rollingpinofdoom · 10/10/2026 09:33

You give over.

Look you can obviously not reliably tell whether a 4/5 year old is male or female based on the shape of their face and how they move. We tell through social cues- hairstyle/ clothes/ name etc. When these divert from social convention adults make mistakes all the time, let alone another 4/5 yr old child. It's silly to pretend otherwise.

Fortuity · 10/10/2026 09:39

Rollingpinofdoom · 10/10/2026 09:33

Yes, yes you can.

4 to 5 year olds really can't tell just from face shape and movement.

you and I don't agree on anything related to this subject.

I was using the words OP used in her thread and questioning what was really happening in this circumstance as it doesn't make sense. At that age, whether a child appears male or female rest entirely on social convention, unless you know what genitals they have. So if this child is presenting as a girl (girl name etc), there's no reason for OP's child to be confused or question that.

The teacher is going on about it, reading Jazz Jennings's fluffy rainbows and unicorns book, and the child is confused and apparently correcting the teacher's use of wrong sex pronouns.
So yes, if the child had no knowledge of ever being a boy, this might not have come up. But the child themselves is confused and the other children were all in preschool with this boy and apparently think he is a boy who wants to be called a girl. Plus the teacher is promoting dangerous "wrong body" narratives.

They may have been told by the teachers.

Justme56 · 10/10/2026 09:45

If children can’t tell then why is the teacher trying to explain that the boy is a girl? It makes no sense to suggest no one knows.

Ereshkigalangcleg · 10/10/2026 09:49

The thing is, there are activists for this movement, proselytising their fringe gendered soul belief, in all sectors. There are plenty of activist teachers which is why the government had to set the new guidelines.

Yeah, kids have been known from a very early age to be able to recognise the sexes.

drspouse · 10/10/2026 09:49

Fortuity · 10/10/2026 09:44

They may have been told by the teachers.

They have.
As an adult, it's hard but not impossible to tell if a child dressed in neutral clothing is male or female. The boy in my DS year (Y2) whose mum decided he was a girl dressed in girl school uniform but his mannerisms and way of moving (socialised or genetic, who can say) more powerfully and slightly more aggressively still marked him out as a boy. My DD, two years younger, couldn't tell, though I did let her know when he turned up in after school club with her.

Children can distinguish male and female adults and will say things like "my teacher dresses like a lady but has a big head" because they know something is out, but not quite what it's wrong.

Rosscameasdoody · 10/10/2026 09:50

Differentforgirls · 09/10/2026 18:52

What’s the difference apart from genitals?

That sex is imprinted in every single cell in his body and is immutable ? And that the sex of a child can be recognised without recourse to their genitalia. My two year old grandson is a little boy. He looks and acts like a little boy. If we put him in a dress and flowery bonnet his sex would still be identifiable - he’d look like a little boy in a dress and flowery bonnet.

Teaching young children not to believe what they see with their own eyes is basically gaslighting, and this teacher is ignoring/breaching guidelines put in place to safeguard young children, in favour of pushing their own agenda. You don’t find that concerning ?

drspouse · 10/10/2026 09:51

@Rosscameasdoody I think it's fair to say that you would know but it's unlikely most children of the same age or older would clock it. For a start, they think a boy can grow up to be a woman.

TheKeatingFive · 10/10/2026 09:51

Differentforgirls · 10/10/2026 09:41

It's not nonsense.

Well do you want to explain how a child decides they’re ’born in the wrong body’?

Only because they have been told this by trusted adults. I mean, children thst age still believe Santa is real because adults tell them he is.

Explain to me how being gay is anything like being transgender ? How is it anything to do with sexual preference ?

Have flicked through the thread, horrified as usual by all the people telling OP that her daughter is being rude, is obsessed with genitals and other abuse. Also Elliot who’s a girl, pretending to be a boy. I hope Elliot’s teachers are wise enough to make sure she doesn’t get changed with the boys.

Last weekend, even the BBC was reporting the shocking rise of sexual abuse occurring in schools, from a frighteningly young age. Knowing what sex a child is and ensuring they are protected when necessary is an essential part of prevention. Children should not ever be treated as if they are something they aren’t and the other children in the class should never be coerced into saying things they know are not true.

I don’t understand how intelligent people, who grew up before all this nonsense started, have swallowed this stuff, hook, line and sinker. I know intelligent people have swallowed it as my sister earnestly told me about her friend’s son who wore princess dresses and stood in the wrong line at school, so was obviously genuinely a girl (rather than genuinely wishing he was one, or genuinely confused).

Living through a period of mass psychosis has to be the one of the most exhausting and sickening things I’ve been through. I just want it to stop.

Edited

It’s not going to stop. Also, intelligent people respect others and don’t care what they do so long as they’re kind to others.

Why do you care what other people do? Try caring less, it’s hardly worth exhausting yourself over! 😂

Intelligent people understand that the norms we set for society need to be based on factual foundations and need to consider the needs of all involved.

How is it helping this child to pretend that they are somehow actually the opposite sex when everyone knows that this is not the case?

The poster quite literally told you why. Maybe try reading and understanding instead of reaching for the laughing emojis.
