Graham Linehan on Jon Ronson's new book

My ex-friend Jon Ronson may be a case study in the corrupting toxicity of trans ideology. An interesting read.

His book chapter about me stands as an indictment of him and the cowardly social class of people who refuse to confront uncomfortable truths

So basically, abortion laws, which pretty much was probably led by his wife. Tells me everything I need to know. Won the argument, so thanks all!

His wife was English, Graham is Irish, because he was very famous at the time he used that to campaign with her. If she’d been married to someone else it wouldn’t have worked. But you do you. Because clearly you were not looking for the truth. You got what you asked first, and are now twisting it.

Undignified

Slagging off Graham from a distance has become one of his crutches.

I liked when he went on the Fifth Column podcast where he and the hosts spent an hour and a half berating Graham and laughing at how mad and crazy and nuts he is.

Then after Trump won, the Fifth Column did a podcast where they finally confronted the trans issue and well I never, turns out they all agree with Graham's beliefs pretty much 100%. Then went back to never mentioning it again.

Pathetic cowards all of them.

Has it, though? Graham @s him on Twitter near daily to have a go at him. Regardless of how betrayed he might feel, it's undignified and gives rise to the view that his concern is less about how trans issues affect women and girls and more about being proved right.

Is it?

There's no documented link between Dansky's murders and camp trans, no evidence she met her victims there or that they even attended.

In the court case, the prosecutors never mentioned Michfest and said the motive was to do with gang-related issues.

That's what Jon put in the notes section for the chapter and is also the identical position Kara Dansky now takes post-trial.

Ronson wrote a piece about camp trans.

Decades later, one of the organisers of camp trans committed a heinous murder.

Graham claims that the victims were Michfest regulars. There is zero evidence they ever attended.

I dunno, call me naive, but I think the fact that a man who spent years trying to force his presence on non consenting lesbians then went on to murder two lesbians is at least interesting, and I would venture to say relevant to a piece about how much said man would like to spend time with lesbians, regardless of the activities of the women he murdered.

Are you never embarrassed by how transparently pathetic your so called arguments are? 😆😆😆

no they led it together and bluntly as he was the famous one, that was how the campaign got more coverage

do you really think you help your cause with such witless behaviours ?

Never heard of him but Linehan’s article on him in the Telegraphy was riveting reading. The comments all support Linehan. They are exceedingly complementary.

The consolation I take from this is that Ronson cannot in future pretend that he didn't take the position he took. It's not like deleting tweets: he has published a chapter in a book setting his stance on the record. I think when this is all over, as it surely will be, and when people look back in horror, as they surely will, people like Ronson will be remembered as the cowards they are.

Totally. Psycho TIM is infuriated by exclusion from lesbian festival. Sets up campaign.

Kills two lesbians and their son in frenzied attack described by the judge as "the most depraved crime that I’ve handled in the criminal justice field in 33 years."

But, but they're not linked !!

How do you know if a child is in the 'minority of trans childrens' puberty blockers are suited for? And when is giving puberty blockers, that are not safe, have dangerous side effects and are given 4-6 times longer than for the max time for precocious puberty, the wrong solution, how can you ever know?

PB are nasty, they stop children learning to accept their bodies and they make gender dysphoria worse as the children are stunted in their growth whilst their peers of both sexes mature. They should be banned everywhere except when there is a physical medical reason to give them. Puberty is not an illness.

100%, and I'm really concerned about the brain growth that does not occur while a child development is stunted because of puberty blockers. They are actually growth blockers. Adolescents go through all kinds of psychological development, for example, the ability to develop and make decisions based on their own sense of right and wrong develops in adolescence, as opposed to relying on external ideas. If a child's psychological development is stunted at 10 or 12, and their peers go ahead without them, how do they catch up? And of course they feel excluded. It just makes no sense to do this and then argue that they are not accepted, they remain childlike so will always feel different. Its criminal actually.

So to be clear, you're saying that the piece that Glinner is referring to was written by Ronson years before the founder of camp trans committed the sicken slaughter of a family of 3.
So Glinner criticising Ronson for not mentioning it is unfair because at the time Ronson wrote the piece the psychotic man hadn't slaughtered anyone yet.

I'm really sorry to hear that PriOn1. You've always been a very effective poster on here.

And you're right, it is absolutely insane.

Caring about the loss of women's rights is (sometimes) seen as okay, as long as you don't care that much. Not enough to get gobby, loud, rude, intransigent, furious. And of course, unless you are all those things, the needle doesn't move, in fact it goes backwards.

As the tide is so very definitely turning, I sincerely hope your children allow some scales to fall and that the clarity provides a measure of reconciliation.

Datun · 30/08/2026 10:51

@PriOn1

Sorry, I think I missed the main thrust of your post which is why it takes over one's life.

Because I agree, it does. Or can, obviously.

It is infuriating, it simply is.

You can go over and over in your mind, wondering how the fuck this has been allowed to happen. And who the bloody hell is buying all this unbelievably sexist, illogical, lying bollocks.

You can vacillate wildly from the incoherence, to the clear and obvious danger, via the rampant sexism, all fuelled by the pretence of faux concern.

I mean, it's a veritable banquet of fury inducing crap.

Little wonder that women everywhere are devoting huge swathes of their lives to countering it. Including the women on here.

And yes, disagreement makes it worse. Not because it's actual disagreement, but because of the implications of that disagreement.

Either people don't care about women, because let's face it, they're second class, or they don't see the danger, because they're complacent (or young), or that's the whole point - stick it to women.

Another infuriating course in the Feast of Rage!

You're not alone.

Thanks for the link, Ronson comes across as a smug, irritating git.
As a PP mentioned he failed to mention

"But that’s not all he left out. In November 2016, one of the Camp Trans organisers, a man named Dana Rivers, murdered two Michfest regulars and their adopted 19-year-old son, then set the house on fire."

That's an appalling dereliction of duty for someone who 'identify's' as a journalist.

GL is better off not having this man as a friend anymore.

There is no evidence that the two murdered women had been to Michfest, let alone were regulars there. Jon Ronson may not have known about these murders, or he may have looked into them and realised that it had very little if anything to do with Michfest.

People are trying to create a story that a transwoman murdered two attendees of Michfest, because they were attendees of Michfest. A transwoman angry with biological/cis women because he/she had been denied entry to a women's only space. The reality is that the murderer knew the murdered women as friends, and the dispute was about a motorcycle club that they were all part of.

Possible, although there's also a suggestion that he befriended them in order to kill them. It's clear that he's life was a complete fuck up, so who knows why he did what he did, he definately hates women though.

The point Glinner makes still stands, Ronson 'found room for the protest guidelines but not the triple murder committed by the man enforcing them.'

Yes it looks like exploitation by Ronson. But it’s also him trying to justify his own cowardice. He’s afraid to acknowledge it.

“who got too embroiled in the culture wars, and it completely took over his life”

@Datun I find it infuriating as well and I am trying to work out what it is about this situation that causes the reaction above, where it really does take over your life.

I’m actually reluctant to post on this thread, because the knives are out and all kinds of lies and smears are already in play. I know that in posting, I open myself to the same, but like Graham, I have lost family over this and it has blown my life apart.

I’ve never in my life been an extremist. I’ve always been middle of the road moderate and I stumbled onto Mumsnet FWR from AIBU, just to see what it was all about.

So how did I get here? Very much as Graham describes elsewhere, I assumed this was simply a situation which would get sorted out if we simply spoke up. The demands transactivism makes are so unreasonable that it seemed obvious they couldn’t withstand even a small amount of daylight.

I campaigned openly, in my own name, because I could. My job situation was safer than most. I am still employed, so I haven’t lost as much as Graham has, though he seems to be getting some of that back.

I never expected that, years later, my children would cut me out of their lives because of it.

I think the attacks on this thread and elsewhere are part of what makes it impossible to walk away. They are clear, gaslighting, narcissistic attacks, fully intended to stop us from speaking out. My conscience tells me that, if I let them stop me, I would be a coward.

So here I am, locked into this horror, where my children are now the flying monkeys for a group of narcissists, telling me that what I believe is unacceptable, but it’s not something that I can turn around.

The aims of transactivism, which are that gender identity should take the place of sex in law and that anyone claiming to be the opposite sex must be given whatever medical treatment they desire as well as being treated as if they are the sex they claim in all circumstances, are so outrageous that they cannot be allowed to stand. And I guess that’s the crux of this. If I say nothing and do nothing and the world goes along with this insanity, then I will be partly to blame.

The whole thing is mad, and yet it’s really happening. I hope some kind of sanity and peace will return, but I don’t know if my family will ever be mended. And that is the worst thing I am having to endure, yet there is no way out, other than through.

I'm really sorry to hear that PriOn1. You've always been a very effective poster on here.

Theeyeballsinthesky · 30/08/2026 10:03

@PriOn1 Im so sorry fur what you have gone through and are going through 💐

i agree - there are times where i still can't quite believe that in the 21st century I have lost good friends because I refused to accept that men can become women because of feelings. Women I valued and looked up too, who turned out to believe that womanhood was just a performance that any man could do. Like others I thought it was so obvious that men can't be women that it barely needed saying. I thought saying TWAW was just a kind thing to signal that you were fine with gender non conforming men - and then I realised I was meant to believe it literally and just no!! The worse thing is that I am certain they don't believe it either. I'm profoundly sad and still shaken all these years later at just how many men and women were, and are still ,prepared to throw women under the bus to preserve their sense of being on RSOH

It does. Presumably a cynical move that will make him more money than if he left it out too.

John Ronson lives in New York now doesn’t he ? I read on here ages ago that his son now identifies as trans, so if true, both those things will be colouring his view.
Graham has paid an enormous price for speaking up against trans ideology.
