Why are you so keen to normalise what this jackass has done, and insist no one was harmed in the process?

I am not normalizing it! What does that even mean in this context. There was nothing normal about it. But that was his point. When Canadian society says this is normal - he showed actually it isn't when you push that view of normal.

And Canadian teens are a lot more self aware and resilient than apparently those you know. They can handle a woman in pants with short air and flat chest who says she is non binary and they can handle a man with longer hair, a pink shirt and fake boobs who says he is a woman. The people complaining weren't even people with kids at that school. The ideology is already out there. I am sure many thought it was stupid or pointless or bizarre or weird or disgusting. BUt permanently psychologically scarred - no. Traumatized - no. Having seen the way the teens were talking about it in the leaked tiktoks, it was not overwhelming terror and psychological trauma that was coming through. I am sure they will carry on into adulthood and life without suffering and being unable to cope or manage in life because of the weird dude who taught shop class in 10th grade.

Do you have proof of this trauma and psychological scarring or are you another one who just wants kids to suffer and so you are desperately hoping some are traumatized to support your views? I think it is weird to want harm to come to children in the absence of any evidence of harm because you think it would support your own perspective if there were more traumatized teens.

The kis he taught were 9th grade and up - that is 14/15 year olds and older. They were not young children.

And the kids are being taught this self ID ideology in the school curriculum. He wasn't introducing it. Just embodying what was being taught in the curriculum to make a point. Anyone can self ID in Canada. Gender fluidity is accepted in the curriculum - you can change genders as often as you wish. There is nothing for him to apologize for. He could choose a new gender ID next year.

But it was making him unemployable and he made his point so he went back to self IDing as a man.

Is he still claiming womanhood if he's still being referred to as Lemieux? Just without the comedy breasts?

Somehow I don't think we've heard the end of this story. There will be more.

Lemieux is his last name. He used the first name Kayla while self IDing as a woman. Now he is back to using his legal name that he used before self ISing as a woman.

Fitness to teach? He’s in a flipping workshop!

When I’m working with machinery and blow torches I have to wear ‘correct clothing and shoes’, have my hair died up, not have floaty clothes or dangly sleeves.

Those fake ( fabric or plastic) boobs dangling all over the place is definitely against health and safety.

bellac11 · 11/09/2023 14:07

dimorphism · 11/09/2023 13:02

There's also the question of fitness to teach. Really do parents in Canada want people this delusional teaching their kids? I'd wonder what they were being taught - beyond the fact that an obvious male in obviously exaggerated and unreal fake breasts is literally a woman and has to be addressed as such.

If a teacher went around dressed as Ghandi or Stalin or Cleopatra and expected the kids to address them as such wouldn't their fitness to teach facts be called into question (safeguarding concerns aside)? I don't honestly see the difference.

Isnt that the problem thats being highlighted though?

Where are the school board (or whatever they are called) to step in and say, this is not appropriate, we dont have people self IDing, we dont call women men and vice versa.

He now self identifies as a man

How does he square this with his past claims that the boobs were real and he had gigantomastia?

I mean — of course nobody believed that. But apparently he claimed it, so is he now admitting it was a lie?

I just don’t get why any school would want him as a member of staff at this point.

I think it was totally a lie.

I don't think he was necessarily trying to highlight the craziness, so much as make things difficult because they had been giving him shit about not believing in their ideology.

I imagine he's in the teaching union, while it may be a different school, as long as it is the same board hiring decisions are mainly about seniority.

BabyStopCryin · 11/09/2023 10:09

I would have been very uncomfortable of this was my teacher. People tell you that you must say this is a woman. The huge cartoon boobs and nipples. You have eyes and ears but you are told that if you say ‘he’ you are committing the biggest crime imaginable and will be punished.

This will have also emboldened other males to do the same and bully girls into giving them access to their loos, changing rooms, clubs and teams.

so yes, I would have been traumatised if I was a kid at that school - and bloody angry.

However I can just imagine that my mum and grandma would have descended on the school head like a couple of demons.

Tinysoxxx · 11/09/2023 10:01

I would have been mildly scared as a pupil but more scared as a teacher that my country allowed this to continue and that common sense speech wasn’t allowed. As a pupil that he would be untouchable if he did anything to make me even more uncomfortable. As a teacher that he was obviously not acting within the norm and that something preventable could not be acted on - that safeguarding was non existent. Also as a teacher, I would be mildly scared that the daily teaching atmosphere was damaged and that there may be a threat of violence from older pupils or parents getting upset.
Thats why I would be scared.

Beefcurtains79 · 11/09/2023 09:54

saffronsoup · 11/09/2023 07:16

That actually is what you are doing.

And I have worked in high schools in Canada so I have a pretty good sense of Canadian teens.

Edited

No it’s not? I’ve said nothing about whether the students have, or have not been traumatised. That’s you.
I simply expressed disdain at how you were so quick to dismiss the possibility that they might be.

CorruptedCauldron · 11/09/2023 09:46

Even if it was all an elaborate troll to expose the craziness of NoDebate, this man has used children as props in his stunt - and that’s not okay.

I can’t believe he’s employable, and not just because he presented as a sex clown in completely inappropriate attire for anyone (male or female) working with kids. He is someone who has been brazenly dishonest - surely that’s a deal-breaker for most employers?

QueenHippolyta · 11/09/2023 09:40

As a cranky middle -aged lesbian I'm just going to say it; do NOT dress however you like. I don't want to see someone's fetish and I'm an adult. We've gone too far in permissiveness

It's why most of us boring lesbians don't go to Pride anymore; men in ass-chaps, bdsm ugh
This goes for drag and men in dresses and full make-up. Keep it for the club

Men, you can wear kilts. Go to Dublin for a Scotland-Ireland rugby match and you'll see fans all wearing kilts, looking great.

There is also plenty of nice unisex clothing nowadays, it's what all the sporty and androgynous lesbians used to wear before 2013 when this started

popebishop · 11/09/2023 09:33

I think RealityFan was just being flippant but I agree with the people pulling up that usage - it gets bandied about everywhere and I think it's something our language should be clear on.

TBF there are tons of people that post on here e.g. 'that's such a male way of speaking' when actually I don't believe that 'ways of speaking' are linked to the male body - but they mean male socialisation and entitlement which are interlinked, but not a direct correlation with having a male body. I.e. it's gendered, not sexed, and I like to keep the distinction clear.... but sorry to go off on a tangent!

I genuinely don't know what KL's schtick is and wonder if we'll ever find out?

TarantinoIsAMisogynist · 11/09/2023 09:21

RealityFan · 10/09/2023 20:32

Hey, I'm joking.
What I mean is, he demonstrates nothing that any other man could say "see that guy, he's sooooo impressive, god I wish I could emulate him".

That's not the definition of a man though. This view is exactly the problem.

What makes a man isn't being a hero, looking a certain way, or anything like that. It's male chromosomes and biology.

Same for women. A person doesn't have to be beautiful, feminine, or admirable to be a woman, she just needs to be biologically female.

popebishop · 11/09/2023 09:17

saffronsoup · 11/09/2023 08:19

I think Lemieux has himself actually said very little. And saying you are a woman makes you a woman is the philosophy of self ID. No one can't say he isn't a woman if he self IDs as one via his gender expression. That is the point he is making.

Yes I know. I said "the insistence" because it came from all authorities - from everyone.

Again, it's not the 'dressing up' that is harmful (necessarily) but the children seeing adults insist that KL is a woman, due to self-id.

What inference are the kids left to draw about what criteria make you a woman? And of course it has to be inference because no-one will say what a woman is.

HarrietJet · 11/09/2023 09:14

saffronsoup · 11/09/2023 06:26

I think your desire for teens to be traumatized and scarred is far worse. Wanting kids to be harmed because it better fits for narrative is scary.

And it is dismissive of people who have experienced trauma to try to make seeing a man in a wig and some fake boobs a psychologically scarring event because of your personal worldview.

teens have seen rupauls drag race. They aren’t scarred by a man dressing up in some crazy outfit.

He wasn't dressing up in some crazy outfit. He was wearing boobs that an actual woman would only possess if she had a dreadful physical deformity and belonged in Barnum and Bailey's circus and forcing those kids to agree that he was an actual woman.
This isn't drag, it's gaslighting at it's finest. And all the fucking adults surrounding him backed him to the hilt.

bellac11 · 11/09/2023 09:13

If any children were harmed and traumatized then thats on the management and canadian officials who allow this

If each person here gets a single vote I'd love to know how the majority here thinks please.
Is he trolling and abusing a stupid system to highlight how open to abuse it is ( vote yes ), or is he a genuine transexual ( vote no ).
I vote yes because the world makes more sense to me if that's the case.
You don't need to justify or defend your vote, just give a yes or no please.

I vote a tentative yes because I probably dont know all the details. I said that I thought he was making a point, on another thread about him and naturally got slated for minimising what was going on

But I thought that some other thread (its all very vague) Id read mentioned that he had a disciplinary and was kicking back against something and then all this happened

I dont know

Musomama1 · 11/09/2023 09:07

I've experienced trauma, a few actually.

I would at the very least have found Kayla Lamieux nightmarish as a sensitive child.

He looks like some freakish creation from the league of gentlemen. And he is in these kids faces, probably literally thanks to the z cups.

I disagree with minimising the effect on kids, it's likely he's spooked at least some of them, as well as of course making some laugh.

The spooked kids have been forced into the classroom with him as he is a subject teacher. It's absolutely messed up.

dimorphism · 11/09/2023 09:00

saffronsoup · 11/09/2023 04:09

I doubt any teens were permanently psychologically scarred by seeing a man in a wig and with large prosthetic boobs. Most were laughing about it and trying to get pictures.

Wasn't he teaching smaller children? Who were told to call an obvious male with fake breasts 'she' - i.e. subject to compelled speech (which contravenes their human rights). IIRC the school also talked about locking all but the front door - an obvious fire risk. As well as the obvious H&S issues of teaching DT whilst wearing those fake boobs.

IcakethereforeIam · 11/09/2023 08:54

I think he was doing it for himself. Probably had a beef with the school. Perhaps he got told off for something, misgendering, and decided to weaponise it. It worked too, he became untouchable. At least for a while, at least until the pics of him without the comedy breasts appeared. Even then, I think he got a sweetheart deal to leave.

I wonder if, at least at his school, he had the effect of making being trans desperately uncool. Perhaps, as a side affect, he put off some kids who might have otherwise started down the trans pathway?

lechiffre55 · 11/09/2023 08:51

theDudesmummy · 11/09/2023 08:45

Are people therefore thinking he is actually on the GC side and deliberately showing up the absurdity? A performance really?

TheDogthatDug · 11/09/2023 08:38

@saffronsoup

Completely agree - he was trolling and I don't think teenagers were traumatised. He has done a very good job of exposing the lunacy of Canada's laws
