Suella Braverman statement about police behaviour and TRA police officer response

I was heartened to see the letter to policing leaders published by the Home Secretary yesterday, reminding them of the importance of remaining politically neutral. She included reference to the heavy handed tactics used against GC women and their failure to take action against violent TRA threats. She also described the Progress flag as 'symbolising highly contested ideologies'.

Full letter here - https://twitter.com/suellabraverman/status/1697905696145092684?s=46&t=qrlGvkcRV2VhASm_7kkOnw

And the response from a serving police officer - rather neatly illustrating the need for the letter in the first place. I don't see how that can result in anything other than dismissal.

It's a good letter.

That letter is a great example of the shit sandwich technique being deployed.

This is the official Government announcement https://www.gov.uk/government/news/home-secretary-orders-review-into-political-activism-in-police

And includes:

The HMICFRS review has been asked to cover:

  • policies and processes that go further than, or contravene, obligations set out in the Equality Act 2010, and how those impact operational decision making
  • the quality and neutrality of associated training provided to implement such policies and processes, and by which organisation(s) this is delivered
  • the selection process for groups that are consulted on revisions to policy or process, how decisions are made on which policies and processes are selected for amendment, how the views expressed by those groups are balanced against others, and what consideration is given to other groups that may be impacted as a result
  • the involvement of staff networks in the development of policies and processes, and the use of police resources and time dedicated to such networks and whether they are involved in contested political matters
  • communications with the public on these issues, including social media
The Home Secretary has requested that the report is published by the end of March 2024, and is part of her drive to see more common sense policing that will see police spending their time wisely and getting the basics right.

Ah. So that police officer confirms in fact, in a mouthful of obscenity and violent ideation:

The police force has been successfully captured and politicised
It is biased and working for one side not just with bias but actively AGAINST other people
This is a good thing
Challenging this is a 'declaration of war'.

Government, please respond. You're going to need a bigger boat.

“Declaration of war” oh do fuck off

OperationLetThemSpeak in full flow I see. Concerning that senior officers in the Leics Police appear so willing to enable this type of behaviour from a serving police officer.

Thingybob · 03/09/2023 09:32

Yes - the ‘Seven Pound Sadie’ Twitter/X account is run by a serving police officer. He is very proud of his tweets and fixated on Harry/We are fair cop.

Seven Pound Sadie denies that they are a serving police officer but Harry believes they are.

All very positive, if it is enforced.

I’m wondering about the entry level requirements / qualifications for policing, never mind social media rules. This one doesn’t understand the meaning of “impartiality”.

Faffertea · 03/09/2023 09:22

They just can’t stop themselves can they? The victim mentality is so entrenched they can’t see a concept such as impartiality in policing as anything other than an attack. It’s complete capitulation or you’re the enemy.

I don’t know what the rules are for serving Police Officers posting on their personal social media pages but I would have thought at the very least this requires investigating and a formal warning about impartiality because if this is their position they clearly can’t separate the professional from the personal properly so can’t do their job.

I don’t like SueEllen at all but she’s spot on here. Was the response from a serving police officer? 😮
