Sex Matters video on TRA violence and letter to Rishi Sunak

Sex Matters have published a video charting the violence of extremist TRAs towards women and there is a letter accompanying it addressed to Rishi Sunak (which anyone can sign).

I just wish they'd used a wider shot of the the image at 01.04 - Rishi and Keir might recognise the woman at the very bottom left in front of the "Decapitate TERFs" sign, given that she's an MP. And Humza Yousaf (who's been tagged in the Twitter thread) might recognize the woman next to her in the yellow beanie, as she's an MSP. (Second image courtesy of SkyNews.)

It may just be me, but I would definitely hear more clearly the threats being made by TRAs if there wasn't the music overlay to the video, I had to really strain my ears to hear and, at times, couldn't hear what was being shouted at all. Still, the visuals say it all, disgraceful, and I wonder why it has been allowed, encouraged even, to continue for so long.

Amazing really, we don't descend on Trans/Reddit to spoil their juvenile narcissist fun.

So why do stirrers like Mishy jam themselves in our airspace?

Not enough fun mixing it with oddballs over there, they fancy some realism and logic over here.

Its like the street demos. We don't descend on Pride, Trans Pride, Stonewall shindigs etc. But the Black Pampers and PRAMs just can't stop trying to spoil rational adult conversations.

Maybe Myra would have got more added to her sentence if the judge had seen she was a nasty bigoted hatespeech spouting TERF.

Myra Hindley! Mishy, I'm one for nostalgia (they should never have stopped lead in paint), but even this is pushing it.

Then again, I do remember Myra saying "if you see a trans activist, punch them in the fucking face!", so you're really onto something.

Honestly? Too many people in power have been bending over backwards to defend things like:

  • hiding criminals' pasts
  • calling those who tell the truth, bigots
  • muddling language (sex/gender, safe spaces/single sex spaces), such that they're doing the work of the TRAs

That it's high time they DID defend women standing up against it all. I'm fine with the wording. Many of us have been putting our jobs on the line. We should be defended. Our rights should be actively defended. Safeguarding and free speech should be defended.

The video's great, up until the final moments. I don't want that bunch of spineless men to "defend us". I want them to ensure the law is properly applied, and the travesty of a court acquitting a dangerous criminal on the basis that he was just joking put right asap.
