The Daily Mail was on this immediately, a full article complete with photos of sad face lesbian standing outside the pub she was no longer welcome in. I was thrilled to see the report.

AmbleInAnnBoleyn · 01/09/2023 14:09

Excellent news, thank you LGB Alliance and well done Jenny.

Codlingmoths · 01/09/2023 14:08

wow, that is such great news and honestly a little surprising to see a company consult the law rather than their DEI execs who happen to focus on exclusion of particular groups and beliefs.

Apollo441 · 01/09/2023 13:58

So now if any lesbian group wants to hold a women only event they can book it in any Stonegate venue and no amount of screaming from TRA's can get it cancelled. That's a great result. Now let's make sure all other venues get the memo.
Also, absolute disgrace Stonewall wouldn't get involved and shows exactly why they are part of the problem.

WorriedMutha · 01/09/2023 13:53

I would love to know what the back story is to this?

Whatsnewpussyhat · 01/09/2023 13:51

Amazing news. Well done!

When a company realises what the actual law is, and not what the trans lobby would like it to be.

So what actually happened? Did LGBA send a lawyer's letter to the pub company?

I imagine Stonegate's lawyers shat themselves when they looked into it.

DiabolicalFinial · 01/09/2023 13:28

Fabulous! I hope now that anyone targeting either Jenny, the attendees or the venue are swiftly dealt with by police - as harassing or threatening them would be a hate crime, no?

Clymene · 01/09/2023 13:05

Oh that's brilliant brilliant news! Well done Jenny and thank you LGBA 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼

LarkLane · 01/09/2023 13:04

Well done LGBA and Jenny!

BernardBlacksMolluscs · 01/09/2023 13:03

LGBA showing why they're needed

wishing Jenny all the best with her future events

Ellie1015 · 01/09/2023 13:01

Great news!

GailBlancheViola · 01/09/2023 12:48

Excellent news. Well done to LGBA and Jenny for standing firm and knowing what the Law actually says.

molotovcupcakes · 01/09/2023 12:46

Fantastic news!

felisha54 · 01/09/2023 12:44

Great news!

fromorbit · 01/09/2023 12:43

Great stuff. Of course Stonegate backed down because being homophobic and banning lesbian events is illegal. As soon as Stonegate's lawyers saw what was going on they would have screamed.

Glad LGBA could use their legal skills here. Lawyers are useful! What they say about the implications of this are massive.

This is great, but here is hoping Jenny and others expand hugely. Stonegate is a huge chain they could do this in other places.

We need lesbian events in every town in the UK. Like we used to have a whole 15/20 years ago. Society pushed lesbians back in the closet time for them to come roaring back.

ahagwearsapointybonnet · 01/09/2023 12:42

Hurray! And hopefully this will have a wider impact too.

HandShoe · 01/09/2023 12:34

Excellent news 🎉

Fenlandia · 01/09/2023 12:33

Brilliant news, I'm guessing the lawyers for the pub group had a little peek at the Equality Act.

I'm looking forward to seeing a raft of congratulations and support from other organisations like Stonewall in the LGBTQ community for this great win for the right of lesbians to assemble........... (/sarcasm)

GeraldTheGoodMouse · 01/09/2023 12:26

Fantastic news 🎉🎉🎉

Helleofabore · 01/09/2023 12:18

That is great news. Well done Jenny and LGBA.

IcakethereforeIam · 01/09/2023 12:15

That's the only result that is right, legally and morally.

Pixiedust1234 · 01/09/2023 12:15

Wonderful news. It's about time establishments stop trying to be inclusive for every single event they hold. It's a ridiculous thing to do.
