Why would a chromosome test be needed - are they expecting people who lie to turn up?

SamW98 · 01/09/2023 22:49

And she’s still getting grief for being a bigot and transphobe as well as being asked if a chromosome test will be required - these TRA idiots really don’t give it a rest do they?

This is the thing that totally defeats me. We know if somebody is male or female. Trust us, we know.

Great news!

IwantToRetire · 01/09/2023 22:12

I hope Jenny's job is safe now, too.

Goodness me yes, I had forgotten about that.

Its always the same with the TRAs, it not just the inital focus of their attack, but the ripple out effect from that.

Snowypeaks · 01/09/2023 22:02

Congratulations, Jenny! Well done to LGBA for backing her and giving legal support.

I hope Jenny's job is safe now, too.

I mean they are but it would be nice if stonewall was dropped and the other actual charities and non profits were consulted by businesses and the NHS and Government departments

It would just be nice to have parity. Stonewall are welcome to flog their own agenda and message and deal with any consequences that may arise from misrepresentation. But if that organisation is going to be involved then the LGBA also needs to have equal input, as Stonewall do not represent all LGB people in their TQ+ focused agenda, there are aspects very questionable that need to be considered by someone lobbying for LGB interests in their own right.

If TQ+ political lobbies view this as a threat to themselves, then that's quite interesting in what it says about their views, their impartiality and true good faith in representing all LGBT people (as opposed to the ones who are useful to their agenda) and what they are aiming to achieve.

Likewise if Stonewall et al are consulted in anything, it should be automatic that grass roots specific women's groups are consulted, such as FPFW, KPSS, and others. The needs, views and issues of women should be independently consulted on, heard and taken into account. Again, if TQ+ political lobbies view this as a threat, then it has to be asked why they want to be the mouthpiece for women, control the narrative and prevent actual women being heard from. And why they are afraid that those voices would damage their political agenda.

It's why really the minister brief for equality needs to be broken back into its individual composite parts with one minister per group, who will represent that group's voices and interests . It would prevent the possibility of a well funded lobby group arising with less than shiny intentions, who had the power to subordinate and harm the other 8 characteristics to further its own interests. You know. Should that ever happen.

Fab news!

Bluetoesnewtoes · 01/09/2023 20:15

I wonder if LGBA will be able to hand out diversity brownie points the way that stonewall do, it would be nice if a disabled charity and sex matters were also the go to places for advice

AtrociousCircumstance · 01/09/2023 19:33

This is phenomenal. 👏🏼💪🏼

MavisMcMinty · 01/09/2023 19:24

That’s great news, well done to Jenny and the LGBA!

RaininSummer · 01/09/2023 19:11

Glad to read this

Sexnotgender · 01/09/2023 19:09

That’s great news.

GailBlancheViola · 01/09/2023 18:58

Have I missed the congratulations to Jenny and LGBA for opposing and reversing this blatant homophobia from Stonewall and LOJ? I am sure they have been fulsome in their praise, haven't they?

RaininginDarling · 01/09/2023 16:47

Brava! This is great news. Unbelievable this had to be fought today but here we are.

FroodwithaKaren · 01/09/2023 16:42

<Stands up and cheers> Bravo Jenny! And bravo the LGBA. This is exactly what we need you for.

IwantToRetire · 01/09/2023 16:34

Great the LGB Alliance are there and proving how much they are needed.

But also huge respect to Jenny Watson for standing up in the first place. Brave!

Love won! The UK's largest pub chain has decided that my lesbian speed-dating event can continue! This is a massive win for the legitimacy of women-only lesbian events & demonstrates that lobby groups' guidance to ban such events exposes businesses to legal challenge.

Codlingmoths · 01/09/2023 14:08

wow, that is such great news and honestly a little surprising to see a company consult the law rather than their DEI execs who happen to focus on exclusion of particular groups and beliefs.

The DEI execs can say what they want. No major chain wants to get sued for homophobia in a case they will 100% lose. As soon as an actual lawyer looks at this they will backtrack.

Remember there are single sex gay clubs/saunas for men all over the UK. No-one cares.

This is why we need to up our game. More events. More exposure.

The more we do the more the TRA side will get nasty and the more they are exposed.

MrsOvertonsWindow · 01/09/2023 15:07

Very good news. This is the result of the end of #nodebate that's been responsible for all the illegal demands of activists having gained such power.

Presumably they will need security as history tells us that this is another group of men who rarely take no for an answer?

SeulementUneFois · 01/09/2023 14:46

Great news!

Datun · 01/09/2023 14:38

What's also great about this is the LGBA's profile is being raised.

Any lesbian, or gay man, can call on them for help knowing their understanding of the law is second to none.

They are going to be seen as the go to people to defend LGB rights because Stonewall has been utterly ruined by transactivists. What a tragedy for a once highly respected charity.

I'll still never get my head around the concept that even though transgenderism directly undermines the very concept of homosexuality, people like Stonewall claim to represent them both simultaneously.

It's so basic!!

And means they can never, ever be interviewed publicly.

including the T has been catastrophic for Stonewall.

Right up to the point where they are furiously trying to shut down charities which support lesbians and gay men!

I can't wait for them to fade into obscurity as the LGB alliance takes up the vacancy.

desiringtoremainsane · 01/09/2023 14:36

I'm so happy about this outcome.

If there is one thing I have taken anything away reading these MN boards it's the inspiration of the incredibly strong, generous, witty and quietly steely women in this fight. Well done Jenny. She didn't ask for this fight and she didn't back down. Glad LGBA is there as backup.
