Alice Cooper has been cancelled

Yet look at the publicity this company are now getting.

The cosmetics company are most definitely cutting their nose off to spite their face. Any impact will be felt by them alone, Alice Cooper won't care and won't have any negative outcomes as others on this thread have outlined already. They might get a small increase in sales from the additional publicity but it will be short lived as the story drops out of the headlines.

The Alice X Vampyre Cosmetics collection never even made it to production, so the company cannot know if their sales figures would’ve been good or bad.

Perhaps Vampyre use a crystal ball instead of a calculator? 😂

If I was running a business and he was promoting that and then putting off a large proportion off buying my products I would drop him too.
Large proportion? I highly doubt that makeup company have a large and/or loyal fan base 😂

If you were a really serious business owner surely you would get the views/background of those you are partnering with before signing the contract or announcing it in the press? I mean...that's the basic minimum of business

Because it is a rubbish station and that is something I could get behind. But then again, I support their right to be as rubbish as they want. In fact, I defend their right to broadcast lousy DJs up to the point where my ears can hear it. Or something like that.

BBC Radio 2 has Alice Cooper album "Road" as Album of the Week.

As I said earlier in the thread he has played about 5-6 concerts in the last 11 days since he did the interview and his new album is out and has sold well.

The cosmetics deal was a recent thing and not important at all as others have said. He has probably made any money lost straight back again. It is interesting how the media talk about it being significant. There is a lot of coverage. This exaggerates the power of the gender lobby creates fear.

The contrast with Róisín Murphy is stark. However it is clear there are very low penalties for powerful male stars who question gender ideology and stand their ground. Ricky Gervais for example is MORE popular than ever, Chappelle selling out gigs.

Richard Dawkins way lower power level but has been doing multiple public events. No push back.

Interesting that his record label won't be stopping publicity of any forthcoming album, cancelling interviews. No venues will be boarding up their doors to him.

I was lucky enough to see him and the Hollywood vampires at the 02 . It was like being a teenager all over again . He is very loved and very protective of all his band members . I don’t think he said anything wrong and hopefully he won’t back down .

I suspect he does not care that much. He, and his wife, have gone through far bigger issues than this and they both have strong religious backgrounds.

He is bigger than they are & all the company have gone is 'go woke, go broke'.

Absolutely. He has a massive fan base and he is very religious and entitled to his views . The recent uk tour was sold out and no one has heard of the make up company . He definitely has not been cancelled .

I feel like there's something about class and the policing of gender here.
This sub-culture is more than fifty years old now. Male people happily indulging a love of make-up. These men are mostly working class, certainly not posh and not university types. The kids at Vampyre Cosmetics are from a different world entirely. Closely linked to the humanities departments of the most elite academies in the anglo-sphere. They're decades late to the game, but they're wedded to the idea that if a male person does something, like wearing make-up, that only female peope did in the USA in the 1950s, then he must shift existential categories. If he's old enough he gets all sorts of special priviledges and if he's young enough he must be prevented from going throuh puberty.
I have a habit of rabbiting on when I write on here, and I'm struggling to express my thoughts succinctly.
Sometimes I wish we had social science departments to look at this sort of stuff.

Possibly. But i do try to listen to as many women's voices as possible because i like my music on the heavy side so it is a bit of a sausage fest.

Not always! I love David Gray’s update on Soft Cell’s “Say Hello, Wave Goodbye.” Heard it on the radio and went out to buy White Ladder. I hadn’t heard of David Gray, but had never liked Soft Cell. Sometimes a cover can open your eyes to how good a song is when it’s given a new feel.

Prefer Alice's version to Julie's, but I have a theory that you always prefer the version you first hear..
