Nobody is saying MW is an ally. The thread is giving examples of what happens in the media. Who decides what is or is not "acceptable".

Much more concerning is that Anne Diamond would take the job presumably so long as she promised to apologise. Isn't she another product of the BBC?

The issue is the power structure, whether the BBC or ITN managers who were the makers of the MW show and of the current JV show.

Even if MW can or was pompous or rude, the issue is those in a position of power told him to apologise for a guest making a factually correct statement that women are biological females. And he gave up a show of 18 years.

According to this report linked below, guest host Anne Diamond issued an apology the day after the conversation involving Anne Hegerty and Paris Lees. So although Wright had let it go, I don’t think it signals that he’s an ally to women. I always saw him as someone who played Devil’s advocate, enjoying a bit of controversy. He used to patronise and talk over members of the public when they called in, and it set my teeth on edge. Just let people speak, even if you disagree, otherwise what’s the point of a phone-in where you’re actively seeking different points of view?

Its worth remembering the JV got this slot because the previous presenter wouldn't apologise on behalf of a guest who pointed out that a trans woman is born male. And was forced out.
