Vogue magazine has published a piece by Emily Bridges:

I Was Banned From Competitive Cycling Because I’m Trans. That Won’t Stop Me Fighting For My Rights.

Full of the usual hogwash and inaccuracies, and the discredited CCES report is doing some heavy lifting.

And apparently they will be trying to take British Cycling to court. We shall see.

I Was Banned From Competitive Cycling Because I’m Trans. That Won’t Stop Me Fighting For My Rights

Cyclist Emily Bridges has been competitively racing since she was 10 years old, but now, due to new policies introduced by British Cycling, she’s been banned from competing in the women’s category.

Trans women are women, psychologically and socially, if not physically.

What makes you a woman psychologically?

There isn’t a men’s category in cycling under UCI (or BC) rules anymore. There is a female category and an open category.

Is it now open and female for Masters only and male and female for elite?

I really hope you all find some joy in your lives, surround yourself with good loving people, overcome your trauma (with therapy and medication if necessary, it’s not the devil! honestly) find some positive vibes and join us all over here in the modern world. It’s a scary place sometimes I know, but educate yourselves and ye too shall overcome the fear. Peace out my loves ❤️

Be Kind wishes indeed. Thankyou .

In return may I hope that you never have the need to access a rape centre where therapy groups are led by a man in a dress, or a domestic abuse centre for vunerable women and children which is forced to accept abused men, or a prison where violent rapists claim admittance. I hope if you have lesbian friends that they are able to socialise in peace with whomsoever they choose to without being called transphobic. I also hope that none of your friends and relatives who have sporty athletic girls have to watch them defeated on the starting blocks by post pubertal male bodied athletes, that they don’t find themselves observed in the changing room by people with penises, that they don’t lose out on training and team selection opportunities by failed male athletes seeking a second bite at the cherry. I hope your child grows up in a world where free speech and discussion is allowed, where university students go to tertiary education to learn , to challenge themselves and accept other viewpoints without being coerced into believing that the loudest voices speak the truth.

peace , love, logic and biology .

CrazyArmadilloLady · 29/08/2023 19:26

@shuddupayaface- would you want to be incarcerated with Isla Bryson or one of the other men convicted of sexual assault crimes and/or rape against women?

Even though I’m unlikely to go to prison any time soon, I will admit that I wouldn’t. And so I understand why other women already in prison wouldn’t want to, either.

There are some single-sex spaces I don’t want to share with any male-bodied people, however they identify. It doesn’t matter to me if they ID as a man, or as a woman, I still don’t want to share space with them.

It’s nothing personal. I just don’t want male-bodied people in single sex spaces with me.

This isn’t just about trans people. As someone who’s lived in the world, I’m aware that there are plenty of men who’d take advantage of being able to ID their way into single sex spaces for nefarious intent. I have a 13YO DD who plays sports and uses changing rooms. Should I just not worry about her safety?

Due to so many transwomen insisting on access to lesbian spaces, I’m also aware that many transwomen are full intact male-bodied people, and sexually attracted to women.

This makes me deeply uncomfortable, and is why I would like to maintain single sex spaces.

I am not saying all transwomen mean me harm, just as I am not saying all men mean me harm. I know they don’t.

But the ones who do, don’t come with handy signs.

Which is why we’ve always simply excluded male-bodied people from our single sex spaces.

It’s to ensure women’s safety, privacy and dignity.

And it’s not ‘progressive’ to do away with our rights to safety, privacy and dignity. It’s not ‘progressive’ to threaten us with violence when we express concerns about the erosion of our rights.

I would ask you to show some compassion and kindness for these valid concerns.

“Get to know some trans people or speak to a psychologist who specialises in trans issues.”

This is hilarious when you look at it.

Not only that you assume that people don't 'know' trans people in real life, but what do you expect that posters will learn that cannot be learned from watching, interacting with and listening to the many male transitioners on the internet that we interact with every single day? You know the ones who have published quotes telling women to die in grease fires, or that little girls are kinky or that it is women's eggshell skulls that are the issue in women's domestic murders rather than male violence, or the ones who mock women's toilet sounds on twitter between them?

I am very happy to provide you all the evidence of these things and more. I shall go and find some of the quotes right now.

Plus you can start here:

Brilliant advice! I am sure that readers will be most interested in getting to know the real life male transitioners! Great idea!

Gosh! If @shuddupayaface thinks those few remarks taken from this thread were transphobic, racist and whatever the third thing was, what on earth does @shuddupayaface think about the violent misogynist posts and tweets in this link?

#BeKind eh?

A quick google search will take you to oodles of peer reviewed studies into the matter. Welcome to the internet 😇

For what?

The suicide prevalence? No, you are now lying. There isn't any.

In fact, there is a growing number of clinicians who both point out that these suicides are simply not happening the way extreme trans activists have described. They also point out that it is suicides are still happening after surgeries and after hormone treatments because often their mental health issues have not been identified and treated appropriately.

But no, there are no 'peer reviewed' studies or stats that prove your 'suicide' statement.

Either provide your evidence or admit you have either lied or made a false claim.

All of it my dear, all the things. And yes cheese too why not? Educate yourself 🤓

Mary Earps seems to have captured some true admiration from what I'm seeing. Spirited, strong, powerful and not afraid to holler "fuck off".

What a woman.

Probably too much of a woman for Vogue actually.....

PatientZorro · 29/08/2023 19:02

Male puberty advantage in sports maybe?

There’s a good number of peer reviewed papers covering that.

I’m sure we all have lots of common ground, unfortunately the patriarchy loves a bit of woman on [incl. trans] woman battering, keeps us all going in a backwards kind of direction 😛 divide and conquer and all that

Indeed he was. I went on an Open House tour of Senate House once and went into room 101. It’s a lot nicer than I imagined 🙂

Or Lizzie Deignan or Laura Kenny or Elinor Barker (I’m sure there are others) who manage to compete at the top level and combine with (in some cases very recent) motherhood.

Yep. And that's just cyclists.

There's no shortage of inspiring and amazing women.
