They are radicalising people who are too online.

I find the comment about being challenged in women’s toilets because she’s not feminine enough distressingly ironic. If this really is happening, then I wish she’d ask herself what’s changed in the last 5 years to drive it.

The answer’s simple: the campaign she supports to redefine woman as an alignment with so-called “feminine” feelings & “feminine” presentation in place of biological sex; her contribution to the dissolution of the social contract that permitted women to assume everyone in their spaces was female, thereby forcing on many a deep insecurity about “feminine” males in their spaces, & a reluctant but necessary alertness to this.

To impose the substitution of sex with gender as the passport to women’s spaces without women’s consent, and then to condemn fearful females for reluctantly applying these very standards - so-called femininity - to safeguard themselves & uphold their rights…? Well, it’s just infuriating.

She’s effectively describing the damage she herself has wrought on gender non-conforming women - & also on those transwomen her ilk are so keen to tell us have been using our roaches for years - by forcing to them to raise their guard.

If it happens. Which I do find hard to imagine.

And if it does, it may of course also be the product of genuine bigotry against eg. butch lesbians, which is itself indefensible.

But think, Mhairi, please just think about what you’re saying!

Theeyeballsinthesky · 09/08/2023 10:10

Ah mishy good to see you continue your Stirling work in defending under fuckwits

the only reason MB might possibly face hostility in ladies toilets is if she’s recognised as the utter quisling that she is. The idea that she could ever be mistaken for a man is laughable

Datun · 09/08/2023 10:09

Questioned about concerns around trans people accessing single sex spaces such as toilets, she told the audience she has had “more grief” in women’s toilets in the past five years than the rest of her life because of people thinking she is not feminine enough.

God it's making my eyes bleed.

If this is true. she wants toilets to be segregated on the basis of masculinity and femininity, and then gets pissed off when she encounters agreement.

There's no way it's true, though. She looks nothing like a man. And it's the last dying complaint of the TRA brigade, that nonconforming women are being thrown out of their own toilets.

(so we must let men in. 🙄)

It is a humiliation thing, isn’t it.

Oh aye, calling your constituents 'Jeremy Hunts' is such a breath of fresh air. 'Calling out the bigotry' of women being incarcerated with male convicted sex offenders - you cannae be serious!

It’s just the new misogyny- which is remarkably similar to the old misogyny.

SueVineer · 09/08/2023 10:02

SinnerBoy · 09/08/2023 03:02

Goodness me, but she's as daft as a brush. She's simply repeating TRA mantras, without any investigation into the truth of them.

Yip - she’s utterly daft

She has been so much a breath of fresh air amongst the staleness of the Uk Parliament. I do hope she returns in some way soon. Standing up and calling out bigotry is not easy. I think she gets it a hell of a lot more than some peeps living in fear of such a small number of people.

Ereshkigalangcleg · 09/08/2023 09:37

I don't think she has many moral qualms about being economical with the truth.

Having met and spoken with Ms Black, I find this absolute nonsense. There is no way she has ever been taken for a man in a woman's space.

Kevinscousin · 09/08/2023 09:28

@Tootsweets23 ah yes the conspiracy theories! Yes I remember all these kicking about as I still lived in Scotland at the time. A guy I knew at the time used to send me them on Facebook. He was quite annoyed with me because I wasn't 150% swearing allegiance to the SNP like a lot of people were at the time .(In fact, I really wasn't sure about them at all, and thought their case for Indy was sadly lacking economically. People used to get really het up about all these conspiracy theories at this time . It was wild. And if you questioned them, you were called a Britnat or a yoon!

Ingenieur · 09/08/2023 09:27

@Helleofabore

The funding conspiracies relating to the UK are not even believable at this point. And if an MP believes them, they really should never have been elected.

Absolutely. By contrast there is a clear pattern of funding on the other side, from billionaire activists to drug companies to institutional investors.

Dark money indeed!

Kevinscousin · 09/08/2023 09:15

If there is any justice she would get absolute pelters for this; comparing criticism of gender ideology legislation to Jim Crow laws? Not to mention the misogyny and ageism. What a horrible piece of work. She won't of course . Not within the Scottish nationalist dominated media and Guardian etc .(Whose readership I used to be proud to be a part of ! Changed days! What a pathetic bunch!) She has shown herself up through her time at Westminster as just a superficial soundbite artist.Mhairi is a complete chancer who has done bugger all for her constituency. She can do a good (written by others) speech and I'm sure she is first in line for a List seat at the Scottish Parly. Mhairi has FM in her sights , Goddess help us.
What an absolute state of affairs.

Ereshkigalangcleg · 09/08/2023 09:10

Renowned Kit Kat fan says what?

Beowulfa · 09/08/2023 09:10

Are we supposed to be taking lectures from the SNP on financial ethics?

RoyalCorgi · 09/08/2023 09:08

That's a great comment, Igneococcus. Who's it by? (Can't see comments.)

The slur that gender-critical feminists are funded by far-right American groups is one of the lies endlessly repeated by trans activists because they lack any kind of rational argument to defend their position.

Wellies54 · 09/08/2023 09:06

They've dug their heels in and are refusing to back down even as they're losing the argument. You don't win people over to your argument by calling them bigots! And I hope they're asked to back up their 'right wing money ' claims!

Waitwhat23 · 09/08/2023 09:03

Lorna Slater made herself look a bit of an arse with the whole 'right wing funding' nonsense -

Igneococcus · 09/08/2023 08:43

I rather like this comment in the Times:

"The 'intellectual debate' is about whether trans people exist as 'born in the wrong body', or whether they are in fact mistaken, deluded, and suffering from dysphoria.
Since it's clear that no one is born in the wrong body, it follows that they are deluded in that belief.
They do however, exist!
So it's not their existence that is contested, but their sex.
Sex is a fundamental aspect of existence which cannot be altered in mammals. It predates humanity, and each of us must come to accept that we are either male or female, else live in a deluded state of consciousness.
The debate about how to deal with deluded men and the charlatans enjoying access to women's spaces, is long overdue. It is hugely significant because women are oppressed on the basis of our sex.
The public is at last waking up to the need to defend women and girls from the myriad of assaults on the rights and protections we have struggled to amass over many decades.
The trans lobby is a deeply regressive, reactionary, authoritarian male rights movement, allied to the interests of the industrialised pharma medical complex, steeped in post modernist notions of person centred variable realities more closely associated with marketing hype than Scottish people's lives.
It's promise of endless cosmetic surgeries and life long drug regimes, fit the fantasies of porn sick fetishistic narcissists who demand that we acquiesce, even when to do so threatens women's dignity, privacy and safety.
Resist, do not comply."

RoyalCorgi · 09/08/2023 08:40

Aren’t we all still waiting for the money to be dropped off in bags at our doors?

I am bitterly disappointed to report that I haven't seen any of this US far-right funding. I was hoping to have buggered off to Santa Barbara by now, and see out my days in an eight-bed mansion with its own swimming pool. How long am I going to have to wait?

LizzieSiddal · 09/08/2023 08:36

Misogynist slurs and trying to silence women's voices.

Does she actually ever take a minute to think about the messages that come out of her mouth. She’s as thick as mince.

Froodwithatowel · 09/08/2023 08:29

Not one screw fully tightened.

Apparently we can choose between 'fuck off immigrants' - from someone who actually thinks it's appropriate to speak like this in a public role of responsibility -

and 'I'm a mouthpiece for a D&D game that isn't actually happening anywhere except between some people's ears, and reality is something that happens to other people'.

And both want to run the country.

Can't we have some sort of reality tv show to select the next government from non politicians on some kind of phone in? I swear we'd end up with better options. We'd be better off with the winners of Strictly and Master Chef.

LauraNorda · 09/08/2023 08:18

It's what happens when you get a kid to do a grown-ups job.

Now our MP is the baby of the House. Never had a (proper) job and knows nothing about life.
