Noticed this article in the DM, it's tragic and imo symptomatic of the insanity running riot in Canada with GI and MAiD. I hope Lois can find a way forward that does not involve suicide. Lois has a voice and perspective that needs to be heard.

I think I recall another thread or post about Lois, but I couldn't find it. Lois is still so young, it's heartbreaking.

Trans indigenous Canadian slams doctors for denying euthanasia request

Instead of a lethal injection, Lois Cardinal says she got a 'numbing cream' that 'doesn't work. The failures of Canada's ultra-liberal healthcare system are a 'human rights concern,' she adds.

Oh God, that poor person.

Wtf have they been left in such distress with such poor pain management that they want to escape it through death? Yes, it's wicked that this awful surgery was done to them and has caused this intentionally in what was a healthy, comfortable body, but now they've been landed with a permanent severe chronic pain condition that's wrecking their lives, wtf is the care and management? They seem to be saying they've been left with more or less nothing.

Ironically, the medical profession generally does very little to offer pain management to women.

So much for the Hippocratic oath 😢

Froodwithatowel · 29/07/2023 13:09

Where on earth is the very loud, very wealthy, hugely political influential, heavily taxpayer/government funded lobby/charity groups to represent this poor person and force the urgent pain care they needed? Why aren't they screaming about this?

<Rhetorical. Sadly, I know.>

lordloveadog · 29/07/2023 12:17

That is desperately sad. Do the surgeons who did this know?

I had the opportunity to go to live in Canada a few years ago, and while I was disappointed at the time that it fell through nowadays I thank my lucky stars. I think since Trump they want so much to not be ‘that cold bit at the top that’s like the US’ they have gone stark raving mad in their liberal ideals.
The application of MAID sends shivers down my spine.

Xoxoxoxoxoxox · 29/07/2023 10:00

Canada seems to have lost all moral judgement, the whole trans agenda and it's extreme surgeries seem supported by their press. The MAID programme seems to be travelling in an unhealthy direction as well.

bellinisurge · 29/07/2023 09:23

Canada is fucked up

Boomboom22 · 29/07/2023 09:05

It's so so sad that these surgeries are allowed. How many thousands will come forward? I don't agree with maid at all, but no Dr should be mutilating peoples genitals.

WhiteFire · 29/07/2023 09:00

A sad read.

A lot of the so-called trans hate is fuelled by the trans community, because we aren't allowed to have honest and tough conversations.'

Absolutely, trans healthcare is an absolute travesty, the affirmation only model of care has led to a do now and to hell with any consequences. Any concerns people have have immediately been shot down by the trans community.

Lois has been desperately let down and will sadly be the first of many.

Helleofabore · 29/07/2023 08:14

That is a grim read. I hope that they find some lasting solution soon. How horrific that they have lived with this since 2009 and no solution has been found.

I have heard of them before. I think I remember reading tweets about their application. They are quite right though to point out the lack of services that are available to them as someone who needs intensive support now.
