Well done to the hotel staff. ‘trans ‘woman’ given key to the unisex changing room instead of the female changing room ‘trans woman’ not happy.

And on his Twitter btw there is a photo of him doing the same role last year at the Sheffield meet. So I expect he will be claiming that no one minds him perving over 16 year olds because no one said anything last time. ( which begs the question why not)

Hoppinggreen · 26/07/2023 09:10

But this person was wearing a skirt, surely that’s the only qualification for accessing the female changing room?

viques · 26/07/2023 09:09

In one of her Twitter responses to this man Sharron D said that it is an almost unspoken but understood rule among women that you don’t put other women into situations that embarrass them about their bodies ( I am para phrasing what she said), and it appears she is right as usual, certainly about this person who is prepared to embarrass and discomfort 16 year old children in order to massage his own ego and make them complicit in his sexual fantasy. It really is an unbelievable example of male entitlement wearing a dress. You would think his allegedly female partner would put him right about it, but hasn’t it seems.

dimorphism · 26/07/2023 09:07

I mean it's becoming clearer why he's so opposed to unisex toilets - unlikely to be young girls in there.

Kellie Jay would walk in and tell it like it is. How DARE all the other officials tell those girls they have to change in front of an adult man. How DARE they send the message to teen girls they have no rights to dignity, privacy and safety.

There will be many girls being failed in safeguarding terms (the most important laws for children which should take precedence over the equality act) as well as discriminated against on the basis of sex and possibly also religion. Parental consent also breached because they were not informed.

How is this the UK in 2023?

DreamItDoIt · 26/07/2023 09:03

They have to accept they are.

Parents have the power to stop this - why aren't they? Why aren't they protecting their children and raising them to be assertive?

This person competes with women after having a lifetime of advantage of being a man. Swim times change after puberty to recognise the massive improvement that make puberty gives. But let's just tell the girls that one of those boys you're competing with might say they are a woman in future years and compete against you and take your place, records etc.

DreamItDoIt · 26/07/2023 08:59

What can they do?

Every parent can refuse to let their Dd change in front of a man. If enough people
Safety in numbers.

Every girl there is being made to accept a man watching them change. It is being drummed into them that when a man says they are a woman they have to accept the

If you want to contact the press, @chinook here is the Twitter profile for the journo who wrote the previous Mail Online piece about Anne.

He doesn’t have a large following so you should be able to get his attention:

https://twitter.com/arthurparashar

Otherwise try Julia HB on Talk or how about Kellie Jay? How long is left of the competition? Maybe we could get a tervern protest organised short notice?

BernardBlacksMolluscs · 26/07/2023 08:34

It’s why organisations have to say (and believe) ‘trans women are women’

because otherwise you’re letting a man watch girls getting changed and that doesn’t sound right does it?

so instead you pretend that people objecting are bigots who need to get with the times

because saying no to raging narcissists is really hard. Those people can get nasty. You might find yourself at a tribunal

much easier to give girls the choice of missing out on the sport they love or getting naked in front of a strange (in more ways than one) man

after all they’re just kids, what can they do?

DreamItDoIt · 26/07/2023 08:21

This is an excellent opportunity to show the uk what is actually happening because it never happens does it?

I would be logging an official complaint to the organisers, my swim club, swim England and telling the press. I would be telling all other parents. Most if all I would be telling my daughter that she doesn't have to use the changing rooms.

This is an absolute disgrace and a massive safeguarding issue.

oldwomanwhoruns · 26/07/2023 08:05

Voyeurism is a criminal offense, isn't it?
Shouldn't the police be involved?

I am in Sheffield this week for the British Summer Swimming Champs as my DD is competing. She said this person was in the female changing room yesterday, along with other female officials. These are open changing rooms where young girls, mainly aged 14 to 19 are trying to change in and out of compression race suits.
How any adult can think it’s appropriate to be in this environment beggars belief.
Does anyone know who to approach to make sure this stops? It seems a few swimmer parents are on this thread.

This is awful. I’m not sure what you can do. If no options, contact press?

Maybe do another thread and it could get picked up

Treaclemine · 26/07/2023 08:03

So this person, who indulges in behaviour which they must know many people would find exceedingly wrong, has outed himself publicly in order to "punish" a woman who dared to stop him in one location. Enabling parents to object to their children being exposed to his gaze.

Theeyeballsinthesky · 26/07/2023 07:49

Just so I’m clear this man is being allowed to wander into the female changing rooms at the British swimming championships where girls under 16 are changing? Maybe this needs a new thread because we know journalists watch FWR

Backstreets · 26/07/2023 07:41

Pity the concept of “shaming” has become such a no-no. They had a word for men who wore women’s knickers and walked into young girls’ changing rooms in the 80s, and it was neither “stunning” nor “brave”.

LoobiJee · 26/07/2023 07:11

SinnerBoy · 26/07/2023 06:27

Bloody Hell, it's almost beyond belief that the organisation are conniving in enabling this creepy behaviour, allowing him to watch young girls undressing.

That’s where the constant repetition of the “most vulnerable / most disadvantaged / most abused” + “they just want to pee, transphobe!” + “it’s not transfolk who are a threat, it’s men” + “transwomen ARE women, you hateful bigot” messaging gets you.

Along with the absolute refusal to acknowledge the that half of prison inmates who self describe as trans are sex offenders or to consider why that might be or to consider what that might suggest about how sex offenders who haven’t been caught yet might be inclined to behave.

And the refusal to even engage in discussion about women and girls’ right to privacy and dignity when in a state of undress.

It’s the inevitable consequence of years of Stonewall’s campaigning and the media and politicians of all parties repeating their campaign slogans.

I think approach the venue with a copy of the equality act pointing out that 'sex' is a protected characteristic and gender isn't.

That 'gender reassignment' is also a protected characteristic but the law allows single sex facilities that exclude trans people.

Sorry I know nothing about competitive swimming but why are officials in the changing rooms at all?

I assume there are other parents there, can you block this person by just forming a line of parents outside?

Dumbo12 · 26/07/2023 00:11

Please tell me I've misunderstood, this man is being employed (even if as a volunteer) to act as an official, with access to female changing rooms? This is by a national sporting body? With children under 16? WTAF!

dimorphism · 26/07/2023 00:01

@chinook so sorry that your DD was treated so abysmally by adults in a position of trust who should know better. I'm glad she has you in her corner.

chinook · 25/07/2023 23:48

@dimorphism thank you, those are excellent suggestions. I will definitely contact Sharron Davies too.
It’s actually my dd who is keen for me to take this further. I won’t let her down.

dimorphism · 25/07/2023 23:34

And maybe get in touch with Sharron Davies? Perhaps via her publisher?

One of the worst things about this is the inaction of all adults sending the message to girls that they should expect to have to get undressed in front of adult men

dimorphism · 25/07/2023 23:27

@chinook please inform as many other parents as possible and, if you can, raise a joint complaint.

You could ask for a refund for any fees for the meet on the basis of being deceived about whether appropriate safeguarding would be in place.

dimorphism · 25/07/2023 23:24

Why on earth did the other officials not speak up about what a breach of consent, safeguarding failure and abuse of trust this was?

No way were all parents informed a biological male would be in the changing rooms with their daughters.

Bloody hell. I don't have any advice but so sorry for your daughter. It's outrageous that children are having to suffer this.
