The fact that he needs it spelled out to him that angle grinding his crotch infront of children is inappropriate and will lose him a regular children's theme park gig is proof that he shouldn't be involved in anyway with entertaining children

Exactly. What kind of mind does someone possess that they ever thought for one fucking minute this was an appropriate act for children.

I have no sympathy whatsoever for him.

ArabeIIaScott · 19/07/2023 19:11

'The entertainer performed at the venue for the two previous Pride events.'

It's not clear whether he was angle grinding his crotch at the previous Pride events.

Maybe the growth of the go woke, go broke movement (like Dylan Mulvany & Bud Light)? A line has to be drawn at some point and maybe gyrating men, pretending to be grotesque caricatures of women is not be seen as suitable for kid’s entertainment & parents are saying no.

Rammstein did it first to much greater effect.

You’re not even trying to be a cool parent unless you’ve taken your newborns to a GWAR gig😂

But again he's not saying anything contentious there. He says he's willing to have a discussion and I can't blame him for being disappointed if, like he says, it was a regular booking and they have very publicly given him the boot after a backlash and not addressed it with him since.

I'm not a fan of Crystal's - he's said some shitty, stupid things about JKR over the years - but I don't think anyone comes out of this looking great.

A man, in position of power, in 2023, abusing others? After all the diversity and inclusivity bullshit we've endured for a decade? Still happening?

Colour me incredulous.

Can we promote this specimen to be our Eurovision entry next year?

' CEO, Philip Miller MBE, said the company will not be participating in any future Pride celebrations.
He said: “We humbly apologise to all of our loyal customers for any offence caused.
“There was confusion between us and the act as to what we would allow or not as it were.
“The grinding act was most definitely a nonstarter as we are ostensibly a family park and that is just not family entertainment.
“Rest assured we will not be rebooking this act or participate in any future PRIDE celebrations it is just not for us, we tried to be inclusive, but it has backfired on us.”

Crystal says he has been booked for this event three years in a row up to this point.

I understand the criticisms here but if that's true it does smack of very publicly throwing him under the bus. They knew what they were getting and are acting shocked now it's kicking off?

He bought his tool at Wickes, natch.

Perhaps he thinks he can grind it down to the right size.

Sorry, that was in answer to He can angle grind his penis to oblivion if he wants , it won’t grow back as a clitoris

IWillNoLie · 19/07/2023 08:01

Quite apart from the obviously sexualised act for children which grooms them into accepting sexual activity around them, power tools are by themselves inappropriate for children’s entertainment.

ArabeIIaScott · 19/07/2023 07:51

The other acts I found that incorporated the same stunt were women. (I have vague memories of angle grinding acts in adult shows that included fetishstic material but couldn't find refs. As fas as I recall these were also women).

Hence his insinuation that its 'transphobic' for people to complain.

It's no accident. Whoever described drag as 'sex clowns' had it spot on. The whole statement might have been pre written.

What I think they've miscalculated is that everyone recognises a bloke doing this to an audience of children at a family fun fair is very different to a.woman doing it for an audience of adults.

I'm a regular visitor to covent garden (as mentioned in the article) and the street performers there don't simulate masturbating with power tools. So he's wrong on that score.

Same here. I've never seen anything like this at Covent Garden.

Annaishere · 18/07/2023 23:28

I wouldn’t mind my teenager watching it and I can see the entertainment aspect, but inappropriate for young children

That's a great theme park for families and when we've been, the entertainers were young, enthusiastic park staff who do a fab job. I'd have been so pissed off to stumble across this tasteless and talentless crap. I wish the audience had just walked away. It looked like at least one child was embarrassed. I'm very glad the CEO has reflected and acknowledged it was wrong.

It looked like at least one child was embarrassed

My Mother was incapable of telling which situations embarrassed her children so we got exposed to many adult occasions and situations that we really shouldn't have. I always thought she was an outlier. Obviously not. There seems to be lots of parents recently that can't tell the difference between their child being bored, shy or mortified with embarrassment.

Aside from the outfit he's wearing, I can't get over the "look kids you know those tools in the shed we've told you never ever to touch, well watch this man hold one of against his groin for fun. See the pretty sparks "

I mean what could possibly happen once back home?!?

Well, it's a novel way to encourage children to part with their genitalia from this movement.

vivariumvivariumsvivaria · 18/07/2023 17:43

And he does this act regularly? That is not going to end with a full quota of testicles.

That would be awful.

It would certainly ruin any chance of an encore.

ScrollingLeaves · 18/07/2023 18:48

The stupid audience seemed to love it.

RoseslnTheHospital · 18/07/2023 18:05

@Peony654 it was put on at a theme park for children, so anyone going to the park with their children that day would have potentially walked past. I have no issues with a sexualised angle grinding act at a ticketed venue for over 18s. This was not that.
