Urinals closed in men's toilets

Yesterday I saw a sign on the men's toilets in my local shopping centre saying that the urinals were now closed to increase inclusivity for trans-men. Has anyone else seen this near them?

I wouldn't like to say which town the shopping centre is in, but it is a university town. I assume it would make using men's toilets less intimidating if everyone was peeing in private in cubicles?

Would men bother closing a cubicle door unless it’s a sit down job?

I can’t see removing urinals makes it more inclusive.

Really? It’s the kind of thing I’d expect to see making headlines.

My local shopping centre has signs up indicating that there may be a male attendant in the Women’s toilets.

That's quite common, motorway service stations too. They have one attendant looking after the 3 sets of loos and any showers.

Ridiculous

RubbishRobotFromTheDawnOfTime · 17/07/2023 08:11

Well how bizarre. Where? Brighton? Bristol? If it really is happening, it’s nice to see men affected by this for once at least.

HairyKitty · 17/07/2023 08:10

How on earth does this increase inclusivity for trans men?? Plenty of men use cubicles for a pee or a poo 🙄. All it’s succeeded in doing is making fewer toilet spaces available.

On the other hand, even though it’s ridiculous, I would be quite pleased to see this rolled out nationally as the complaints from men about their lost urinals is sure to have more impact than complaints from women about males invading their private toilet spaces.

You don't remove stairs for disabled inclusion
You add a ramp

How stupid

Elbowsandknees · 17/07/2023 08:09

I don’t believe this.

Woman2023 · 17/07/2023 08:08

How is inclusivity helped by withdrawing facilities? Men are catered for on the basis that most will use a urinal. There won't be enough cubicles to cope.

Men might actually discover how annoying it is to queue when you need to pee.

Sugarfree23 · 17/07/2023 08:02

WTF that will just lead to ques for the men's but at least its impacting the men folk rather than the usual impacting women.

Flickersy · 17/07/2023 07:59

No. What shopping centre was this?

WhiteFire · 17/07/2023 07:57

I wonder if trans will be the new COVID, as in, provide poor or reduced service and then claim it is for trans inclusion.

Problem withe urinals? We won't pay to fix it we'll just say we are being inclusive.
