You know that thing, where you say at work, over and over again, about that bloody great oncoming freight train problem belting down the tracks, and everyone goes mm and carries on. And then eventually some bloke on the team says 'ooh look, freight train problem' and everyone goes gosh! why didn't anyone mention this before?

I can’t help but wonder what offences the trans women prisoners complaining about the fake trans women prisoners were banged up for. Non payment of their tv licence I expect.

We strategized that by working intensively with the Scottish Prison Service to support them to include trans women as women on a self-declaration basis within very challenging circumstances, we would be able to ensure that all other public services should be able to do likewise.

I genuinely thought the trans community was the most marginalised and oppressed group in society and no one would actually lie about being trans, because all they want to do is get on with their lives and not bother anyone.

My world is truly rocked to its foundations.

Well, quite. The entire premise of the article is off in its assumption that some men who say they are women must be genuine.

Some men who say they are women may genuinely believe they are. The others don't, so they are liars. The ones who genuinely believe they are women are suffering from a delusion. So they're trying to separate genuinely deluded people from those who are just lying. I doubt many of those men fall into the first category.

I am obviously completely shocked by this and cannot believe it is true. I look forward to Marbles et al coming along soon to tell us how we’re wrong again.

Having read the both The Telegraph and the Inside Time articles it’s clear that the prisoners interviewed see the ‘fakers’ (as they are called in the study) as threatening their own status as ‘true’ transgender people and the competent ion that creates. In fact it explicitly says they resent them. And yet the study itself was designed to listen to male prisoners, who offended as men and then after conviction were transitioning. So they want us to believe that they are genuine women, but those others are not. Even though they’re all following the same script. Right down to ‘gender dysphoria made me do it.’ Funny that.
