Like Piers Morgan, Lawrence Fox, Tucker Carlson.... You've very much got to ask yourself if you're on the right side if you find yourself agreeing with them.

Yikes. This sums up current politics in a teacup. You're either on one side or the other. You can't think for yourself. You don't even need to do your own research anymore because X newspaper/social etc said this and this.

Honestly, I wonder if people really are left wing because they want to make the world a better place for everyone, or whether it's just a social status to show off to others "I'm better than you...". I get the feeling it's the latter, because no-one seems to actually THINK anymore...

It's not actually agreeing with them though is it. I don't say I agree with Piers Morgan.

I say I agree with what he said.

This right side stuff is weird. Are there only two sides? Surely there's more than two "sides"😁.

I often agree with what random news readers or commentators say but I haven't got a clue who they are! They didn't pick me out of a line up for their "side" and I didn't pick them to be on their "side". Have they all got sides? There are millions of sides!

That's exactly what I meant

I would judge the person first, and based on that I would decide if the ideas were right or wrong. 🙄

I don't care any more. I am still a (hard-core) lefty even if I agree with this woman on this particular point.

But I do think this is one of the reasons why so many of those on the liberal left 'side' cannot even allow themselves to critically think of the damage that GI is causing.

The thought of sharing a point of view with someone like her is impossible to contemplate.

Helleofabore · 04/07/2023 12:23

"You have written a great deal of hyperbole here and actually accused me of being 'faux-naive' and campaigning for someone."

No. ok. you didn't say I was campaigning for someone. But you have accused me of being 'faux-naive'. And frankly, I couldn't care less because you seem to be so deeply prejudiced .

Sorry I'm not buying it. Quite why you think the GC board needs the validation of a right-winger to explain something that we're already aware of thanks to actual feminists. And gaslighting that it's under the guise of 'the enemy of my enemy is my friend' rather than obvious brigading by right wingers mistakenly thinking this is some sort of safe space for their anti-woke crusade. The only thing you are correct about is that now the American conservative right has got onto it something might actually be done because they are the ones that actually hold power in the world, thanks to faux-naive people like you campaigning for them. The fact that the change they want happens to coincide with the GC feminist viewpoint on this occasion doesn't excuse the fact that the same people are pushing anti-women agendas elsewhere.

Wasn't this one posted in another board but as usual, it gets hived off into 'feminism sex and gender' to keep the general public clean of wrong think.

Buying what? Logic? Rational thought? Yes, it didn't look like you invested in those at all by reading your posts.

You have written a great deal of hyperbole here and actually accused me of being 'faux-naive' and campaigning for someone. I mean, maybe you really do need to roll out a hyperbole alert on your posts. That is some far reach... but hey, coming from someone who declared a post analysing Trump as 'bigging' him up.

"The fact that the change they want happens to coincide with the GC feminist viewpoint on this occasion doesn't excuse the fact that the same people are pushing anti-women agendas elsewhere."

Oh really? No way? Seriously?... you do seem to think we are stupid, don't you?

What part of listening to someone's video means that we support them? What part of listening to someone's video and agreeing with one thing and disagreeing with other things means that we are pushing their agendas? particularly since we have not actually had any rational discussion at all about this video on this thread.

You do realise that listening to someone's words doesn't make you some kind of follower, or convert, or political agent for them? Are you so insecure in your own thinking that you cannot listen to others?

Hepwo · 04/07/2023 12:12

Okay then! I understood that calling men she was gaslighting long before I started posting on this board. I first heard it in SoHo clubs in the 80s.

And validation isn't necessary from anyone. Political change is.

And gaslighting that it's under the guise of 'the enemy of my enemy is my friend' rather than obvious brigading by right wingers mistakenly thinking this is some sort of safe space for their anti-woke crusade.

Friend? She's an American newsreader no-one has likely met her. We agree with what she said, not with her in person. That stupid saying is tosh.

The only thing you are correct about is that now the American conservative right has got onto it something might actually be done because they are the ones that actually hold power in the world, thanks to faux-naive people like you campaigning for them.

Oh dear, another one that thinks right wing parents should shut up and wait for the left to realise, which will be never.

The fact that the change they want happens to coincide with the GC feminist viewpoint on this occasion doesn't excuse the fact that the same people are pushing anti-women agendas elsewhere.

Who said it does?

I would first check who had said something to know if I was allowed to agree or not.

Unfortunately I learned the hard way.
I am still waiting for people on the left to speak clearly about the TQ+ issue.

No. I am just pointing out your ignorance. No nerve touched. You seeking to shame women for holding a different opinion, or political stance is nothing new.

Your point was a ridiculous blanket statement. I stand by my comment.

If you cannot interact with people who have differences of political views than your own, you must find it difficult to live life dealing with society.

I’m posted this because I’m not interested in megyn per se, but I am interested in how she articulates what’s going on.

id like for Mums who are unaware to wise up quick.

Pronouns sound innocent, but the teacher socially transitioned my daughter before she was ready, or wanted to. He looked cool, she went through a lot of unnecessary stress.
she didn’t feel she could back down.
she did a lot of research online to try and convince herself she should have the pronouns and keep to her new name. Everywhere she went there was,’be inclusive! Trans is cool! Be kind!’ And the utterly dystopian,‘some people are born as the wrong gender.’

she found out that questioning whether she was trans meant she was transphobic - she had to try harder to be more trans.

if you try really hard ( not very hard at all) to be trans, you can buy testosterone online from a well known chain store, for 18 quid a week, delivered next day. and no, you don’t need years of counseling, you need 18 quid. And yes, this could be your teen. Quite easily.

and if you’re still not trans enough you can dream of being like the other cool trendy you tubers who have top surgery. It’s a double mastectomy - the same thing that Angelina Jolie shocked people by having, to prevent getting cancer and now it’s being touted as nothing more than cosmetic. Like getting your teeth whitened.

so no, using pronouns isn’t a simple thing of being polite. Please don’t do it to your child. Or let the school do it either for that matter.

I'm so sorry about your DD. Your whole family must have been through hell - are probably still going through it because all of these "transitions" have repercussions, mental, emotional and physical which often persist for years.

I hope she is happier in herself now, however she has chosen to live her life. This is not something that should be pushed - it is too serious and too long-lasting.

As others have said - it is a mental health issue; one which has developed into a social contagion which is destroying children.

This is the rhetoric. Explaining how things happen is 'bigging' someone up.

I think it has gone so far alison that even mentioning without some ridiculous disclaimer is considered ‘bigging up’.

Thanks to those that have bothered to listen to what she’s saying - she is a controversial character, and in this instance I think she has a point.
thanks to the pp who mentioned the rohypnol article and ms ekpunobi.

I have skimmed a few of her videos and they are very intelligent and fair. This seems interesting

i didn’t want to discuss megyn per se, but to draw attention to the danger something as innocent sounding as pronouns can be, to Mums out there.
my daughter was socially transitioned at school by a keen teacher - she didn’t want to. It meant she was then known as the trans person, and couldn’t back down/ change her mind causing her incredible stress.

Trump is successful because he listens to people’s concerns and picks up and runs with them as campaigning tools. He may not believe them or have thought them through and is lacking in nearly all other personal qualities you would want from a president, but people feel listened to. If he becomes president again then that will be because the liberal left have refused to listen - not just to the right but also to the concerns of the middle. How can you address people’s concerns or show them they are unfounded if you just stick your fingers in your ears and shout ‘La la La, I’m not listening!’?

Is nolie’s the post you call ‘bigging up Trump’, loco? Because I think you have just made the point that you don’t actually have the ability to read and analyse words about people you hate. Did you do what others have done, read/ watched the first line and made a judgement?

Thanks for the live demonstration.

Maybe you’d like to read the post you seem to have dismissed and maybe you would like to point out how that ‘bigs up Trump’ in your narrow world? Because it mentions him? Because it talks about his tactics and why his tactics might mean he wins the next election?

Really?

Helleofabore · 04/07/2023 10:49

BusyBushBaby · 04/07/2023 10:33

Why do you assume I just sit in an echo chamber? There's a balance to be had between sitting in an echo chamber and listening to every random video on YouTube.

If someone opened a video with an off hand comment about how women's rights don't need airtime anymore now they have full equality with men and political power, you might feel disinclined to spend your limited time listening to them, too. That's similar to what she's just done with gay men and lesbians.

And so we differ. I would listen if it was posted on a forum and I would then argue on that forum why I disagreed. Sure, bring in the other views that the person had but focus on the discussion at hand.

Just because others chose to spend their time differently, doesn’t make them aligned with anyone just for making any positive point about what that person said. If indeed, any positive point was to be made!

People have different approaches to analysing information. If you choose to not listen, that is your choice.

An explanation of why millions of Americans voted for Trump is not "bigging up Trump".

Can you tell the difference?

Much as I like the alliteration, surely sucking sick through a sock would filter out all the retchworthy lumps and make it marginally more tolerable than simply drinking a cup of it?
