The point is that the teacher recorded by the two girls in Rye was prepared to validate such a hypothetical identity; that she insisted there are three sexes and that she called the girls "despicable" for having a grasp on reality. Regardless of whether there are hordes of children cosplaying as furries, this teacher's reaction shows that batshit ideally can and has taken hold in schools. That's the point the Guardian article also misses (deliberately, I'd say, given their complete capitulation to identity politics).

Yeah, this is a good point. I think that the teacher is extremely confused. She also seems to think that it's homophobic to not affirm trans folk. And I actually agree with you that it is a problem to have such uninformed educators wielding so much power.

But I still do think that it does matter whether there are lots of children who are identifying as animals. If there are, then of course we have a big cultural problem. If there are not but we're reporting that there are, then we run the risk of making this reality come true. Furries do not identify as animals. There are a few role playing furry children. When we report stuff like this, we put it into kids' heads that they perhaps should identify as animals. And we also end up stigmitising and marginalising furry kids, who are already very vulnerable kids.

Also, to all the posters getting upset about the possibility of ridiculing children... let's again make clear that to be 'despicable' (as said by the teacher to the two girls) is to be 'worthy of contempt and hate'.

But the point is not, ultimately, whether there are any actual children identifying as cats, moons, hatstands or anything else non-human in schools. The point is that the teacher recorded by the two girls in Rye was prepared to validate such a hypothetical identity; that she insisted there are three sexes and that she called the girls "despicable" for having a grasp on reality. Without the recording made by these girls, this would also be dismissed as hearsay and exaggeration. Of course the likes of the Sun and Mail are seizing the opportunity for some good old anti-woke scaremongering and moral outrage, but the fact remains that there are teachers in the school system today prepared to threaten children with exclusion - O, the irony! - for understanding biology and to validate utter batshit. Given the reach of Stonewall, Gendered Intelligence and the like when it comes to legally-illiterate D&I training over the last few years, she will not be the only one.

Agree👏

Lightningstrikess · 27/06/2023 11:36

@Wiccan it's a bold statement from the teacher to make. Has she had guidence to say if children don't agree with gender ideology they will be excluded from the school? This statement needs investigating. If I was a parent at that school I would want to know if exclusion from the school the consequence my child faces for stating factually that there are two sex M & F. And for correcting a teacher who says there is 3 because she says intersex is a sex.

I want to know how exactly the teacher reached that conclusion. What gives her the authority on who to excludde from the school, was this the schools stance? Zero tolerance to any child who questions gender ideologies or was the teacher making the call off her own back?

It makes you wonder doesn't it ? . Is it the overall veiw if the school or is it rogue teaching . Either way those girls should be really proud of how they handled the discussion.

I don't see how anyone can read that and not understand that the issue was about a child being challenged about identifying as a cat.

so I said how can you identify as a cat when you’re a girl?

This is simple and irrefutable. It’s quite something we’re at the stage where it’s problematic to say

HarpyValley · 27/06/2023 11:26

*batshit ideology, not ideally.

ModestMoon · 27/06/2023 08:59

Have you guys not noticed how these claims are totally unsubstantiated? The child who identifies as a moon is on the hearsay of one pupil talking about an unnamed classmate. Same with all the others. Then the newspapers repeat the same stories. We're being duped, this absolutely is not a widespread phenomenon that we should be worried about.

There is also a massive difference between identifying as a literal cat, being a furry, and just messing around with how you present. Furries do not think that they are literal animals. It just suits right wind media to lump these kids together with furries because the furry community is full of dangerous sexual fetishes, many of whom target children.

But also, these kids do not think they are literally cats. They are just finding ways of expressing themselves, like goths do. We do them a disservice both when we ridicule them and when we take them too seriously. We also do them a disservice when we believe baseless rumours printed in trash newspapers.

Basically the teacher expressed that if the girls didn't agree with her then they weren't wanted at the school ! . Wow 😲 how is that inclusive ? . It wasn't too long ago that a teacher with that type of opinion would have had her ass kicked out of the school gate !.

@FedgeHund I didn't know that. It will be interesting to see how it all pans out so. I hope the girls parent's take it further & more parents encourage their dc to challenge teachers. I'm sure we'll be hearing plenty more cases like this before the year is out🤞

No I wouldn't go as far as prison but there needs to be follow up & consequences. As a mother reading that script I am furious at how that teacher devalues those girls & how condescending she is in the process.

The NHS disagree, fabricated induced illness is a crime, that's what has been recorded by the girls, the Teacher is inducing illness and fabricating.

It's no wonder the serious case reviews and government inquiry comes up with the same results.

It's not up to us, that's what safeguarding lessons decided before it was their own sacred Caste involved.

Moopsi · 27/06/2023 11:13

I am too but I just think we don't need to start bringing her personal problems or her family into it or saying that she deserves to be in prison. What's wrong with paddle boarding anyway?!

I agree with @fedgehund on this one. There needs to be a follow up & consequences for the teacher involved. What she was teaching those children simply isn't true. Then she told the child her opinion is wrong. Surely every teacher knows every child is entitled to an opinion. It's the very basis of debate.

No. You don't imprison people for lack of critical thinking.

Your hyperbole isn't helping your argument.

I am wondering if this could be a positive thing. If one child's identification as a cat, dinosaur or badger is treated with exactly the same level of respect as another child identifying as a girl when they are clearly actually a boy (or vice versa) then doesn't that helpfully make it easier to clarify the difference between respecting someone's beliefs (good) vs actually believing their fantasy (not good).

We have been able to cope (mostly) with all kinds of mutually-contradictory religious beliefs being respected and not ridiculed, space made for the expressions of those beliefs but no requirement for any of the rest of us to actually believe it. That has been successful for decades. Believe that one is a different species or sex than the body one was born in belongs in the same category.

Respect doesn't cost anything. Capitulation costs everyone everything.

That transcript shows even more clearly the teacher was all over the place and worse

Yep. @MrsOvertonsWindow thanks again for sharing. Horrid reading. Well done to those girls & for also for bringing her mum into it.
Hopefully this spurs up lots of activism in our tweens & teens. And it teaches them adults aren't always right & call them out on their complete battshittery every chance they get!

The teacher's private life is her own business and it's wrong to call it oit on here. We can disagree with her actions in the recording without becoming personal.

Agree

You can purchase small usb camera sticks and small dictaphones. I suggest if you or your children are around these abusers you keep them charged on your person. That way of they take a mobile phone you have a backup recording device.

If you are disabled you legally can use as many covert recordings as you like as they are disability aids and to take them or refuse them is illegal.

These sadist, abusive liars are out to harm you and your children. Put evidence out there as nobody will believe it otherwise. They rather believe people who tell you men are women.

@FedgeHund that is so good to know & kids need to be armed with these.
