She upsets the TRAs by saying she is still female. She sometimes minds being called 'she' and sometimes objects.

Buck sits in an awkward space between accepting reality and benefitting from transition.

Buck looks passing until standing next to men.

For Davina to be commenting on Buck's tweets is an interesting development.

I think the balance of saying we're talking about women and our trans and non binary friends is fucking genius. It's perfect.

Women are central to the narrative but it's inclusive of anyone else that would be affected but doesn't want to identify as a woman.

Which is nice and kind and I do worry that sometimes I / we have to hold a very aggressive stance which is genuinely upsetting some very vulnerable people to withstand the onslaught from the other side. I don't want to upset the 'victims' of this ideology so if we can include them then let's.

It also doesn't use any of the language that's open to interpretation / misunderstanding about what sex you actually are.

It really says something for our heartfelt belief, that we're getting animated about the possibility of an ephemeral TV personality possibly being a possible ally in this fight.

I mean, where the fuck did the Enlightenment dissapear to? And just when did it happen? I confess, I was totally certain two decades ago the rational Western model was safe in the elites' hands.

I wonder if she is pissed off that every time she talks about women and the menopause someone somewhere will tell her off for using the W word without qualifiers?

It must be so frustrating to be campaigning about an important issue - say the availability of HRT - and to be constantly told to think of the menz too.

I think she’s GC but wants to be kind - the position most of us start from before getting disillusioned with extreme activists’ behaviour. As PP notes, on her menopause show Davina did reference “our trans and non-binary friends” being affected too but it felt a bit like she was paying lip service in passing, as a way of acknowledging that she’d been talking endlessly about women and women’s issues and didn’t want to exclude anyone.

Nadia on BB was a sweet and gentle person, as was the TW (Francesca?) on Long Lost Family. Nice people just getting on with their lives - and Davina probably thinks of them, not the Isla Brysons of this world, when she considers whether TWAW.

She did say at the start of the second meno prog she did that "non binary and trans people" need to know about menopause... (iirc - which is hazy!)

If I'm honest, that can ONLY be a nod towards "if you knew how important these hormones are to your bodies would you do this to yourself?"

Listen to the last couple of minutes of her on Stephen Bartlett’s podcast. She’s defo GC, but also worries about getting ‘cancelled’.

Which is kind of a double whammy. Lots of TRAs will be very upset that she is engaging with Buck - even without the content of her reply

There is, of course, the possibility that she just liked the podcast. That she liked how balanced it was (it actually was) and sees it as a first step to the sort of moderate middle ground we are constantly told we need to find.

She'll find out that's a unicorn now. She'll find out exactly why we can't compromise.

I think she is quite 'be kind', but she also probably realises this has all gone too far to preserve women's rights.

Maybe she thinks it is possible to hold both positions?

This may be a long peaking journey.

She's hinted several times on various podcasts that the word woman includes trans women.

She has picked up a couple of transphobe accusations now, but it's not that terrible.

Maybe that will embolden her to a tentative and uncontroversial opinion of her own at some stage?

I hope she doesn't back down and promise to educate herself. I really think if she lets the TRA cries die down (if/when they come) then it'll blow over. Enough people have done the groundwork for her to tough it out.

There's no way she can have done all the work on menopause and not realised that the massive increase of trans identified girls and women, and medicalisation, esp PBs, isn't a shit show waiting to happen.

Woman's hour had a piece on recently about some research into whether girls recovering from anorexia should be given body identical hrt to protect their long term bone health.
