That letter is so shocking. Well done girls for standing up for yourselves and your friends / classmates but the fact they have had to shows the abject failure of the adults in positions of responsibility to adequately safeguard girls.

I must have watched Python episodes dozens of times since the early 70s, incl the films.

It was a badge of honour to love them.

Even as I laughed myself stupid as a teen and older, unwrapping layers of satire and anti establishment bombast, I always had a nagging anxiety.

Of a surreal world that felt hugely alien, especially any feeling it could happen.

And so much of it has come to pass, a world so riven with anti science and contradiction, embedded in a culture that is hugely buracratic.

John Cleese is the only one of the surviving team, with occasional outbursts from Terry Gilliam, that is unrepentant in pointing out the cul de sac we're going down societally.

Python is looking less an out and out satire, and more and more a warning for the future.

Just watch Life Of Brian, and tell me that isn't an accurate prediction from four decades earlier.

That's a great letter! And good to see them calling out the complete absence of any consultation with young women and girls about whether they consent to toilet sharing with boys (let alobne changing rooms, dormitories & showers). There was a time when "pupil voice", school councils etc were considered to be important.
Much of it now abandoned in order to get Stonewall points for being a diversity champion & contributing to schools becoming a more hostile environment for girls.

Really excellent letter, and I do believe that 14 year olds wrote it.
The only thing that jarred was the suggestion that boys could use the disabled toilets if they felt uncomfortable in the male toilets. Disabled people are sick of shit like this.

It's so ridiculous and if everyone is allowed to self ID as what they like (which of course is never true, it's creating an overclass and an underclass) it would be chaos.

All the kids could 'self identify' as having done their homework and 'self identify' as having achieved A* at GCSE.

Then, next generation we'll have 'self identified' doctors performing surgeries. It's going to be fun, don't get on a plane built by a 'self identified' engineer.

Finally a teaching union has spoken up about this and is actually doing their job by pointing out the problems for teachers - unlike all the "nothing to see here" approach from the other unions:

All those saying it couldn't be two 14 year olds, remember it took a similarly aged teen to take an LEA to Judicial Review over that dreadful guidance for schools which was then withdrawn. Teenagers are not stupid they can see this authoritarian bullshit for exactly what it is.

Secondly, those girls are crystal clear about how this ideology is stripping them of their rights, their safety, their privacy and their dignity.

Thirdly, that students, like everyone else, are being coerced and bullied into playing along with this ideology. They are having their speech compelled and their thinking controlled.

Gender Ideology if it is to be taught has to be taught as a belief system much like religion - some people think this, some people believe this no-one else has to go along with it or participate in it.

Sure, but these would be maybe the only ones who'd unreservedly not censor their words if questioned. It still seems like a massive rearguard action.

We're not talking about a movement to silence gays or impede equal marriage or promote gay conversion therapy. This is not the bad old 70s and 80s.

We're talking about mainstream views that every woman in the labour movement and every pro choice Tory would not break sweat on, any dissent would shame dinosaurs.

Can't be sure of anything in this topsy turvy age, but there's a lot of anecdotal evidence that whole swathes of Alphas have had enough of their whinging narcissistic older siblings ("NB, my arse!"), and lost faith in teachers and "responsible adults" who've taken the path of least resistance.
