Demi Lovato has said she is no longer going by they/them pronouns because it was “exhausting” to constantly educate people why she wanted to be called they/them.

Is this not just making a mockery even more of the pronoun thing. Almost like she can’t even be bothered anymore to put the work in to her own spectacle she started

I dont get how non binary identifying males have absolutely no issue using the women's spaces but for some reason its a huge issue for female who are allegedly non binary

One type of non binary involves womens spaces and an orange tutu. The other, a double mastectomy and no where " safe" to go.

Isn't it strange how all these identities favour one sex over another.....

Would have been better to not indulge this from the beginning. Its clearly not done her any favours. Shes clearly needy and messed up and needs a boundary not pandering to.

MrsJamin · 16/06/2023 07:23

I know a man who has a very strong identity as non binary- often wears flag colours, badges etc. He's really really sensitive and is happy to correct someone's pronouns for him in even the most inappropriate, insensitive situations. The self-centeredness is overwhelming. He's like a big child, into childish things, and really very unstable mentally. He can be really rude and people he know tolerate it because that's what he's like. I see all of these things as connected and I doubt he's the only nb which is like that. He's so very very keen on being an individual and standing out. And he still has male privilege and a male body despite his insistence that he doesn't- it's maddening!

TrashyPanda · 15/06/2023 23:33

Easy answer:

use sex based facilities
use sex based pronouns
find something more interesting to do

stop worrying about gender - it really doesn’t matter and nobody cares if you identify as non-binary or as an Archers fan. Because it doesn’t matter. It doesn’t change anything.

"It's not her responsibility to change the world"

It's not her place to compel other people's speech.

And she was finding it too 'exhausting', poor Demi.

SabrinaThwaite · 15/06/2023 23:16

I constantly had to educate people and explain why I identified with those pronouns. It was absolutely exhausting.

I bet the the rest of us on Planet Reality were waaaay more exhausted, what with being constantly educated as to why you needed such special treatment.

Redbird87 · 15/06/2023 22:55

What she said about it kinda reminds me of my bf, who is non-binary. Very, very sensitive, avoids absolutely anything that makes him so much as think of his gender, resentful etc. Ofc it's a crock, but it's like people vulnerable to this stuff have a mental block up keeping them from realizing they can redefine their sex instead of embracing stereotypes by treating them as so set in stone that to escape them you have to escape your entire sex all together.

CountZacular · 15/06/2023 22:50

why can't a non binary person use female pronouns?

So in this case, essentially a gender non-conforming woman then? I feel like you (and Demi) are so painfully close to getting it.

drpet49 · 15/06/2023 22:49

Demi Lovato has always been a complete mess.

BreadInCaptivity · 15/06/2023 22:37

Not half as exhausting as listening to people talking utter shite in denying basic biology and expecting the world to pander to their delusions.

I'm mean seriously if she can't be bothered her level of investment wasn't exactly a high bar for someone used to VIP treatment.

I mean she was hardly ever going to be standing around pondering which toilet to use in the the local supermarket.

But that's the thing with declaring NB status. It's as easy to jump off the bandwagon as it was to jump on it.

She just comes across as a self indulgent twit.

WhamBamThankU · 15/06/2023 22:33

I literally roll my eyes when I read this shit.

MrsOvertonsWindow · 15/06/2023 22:29

I liked the labour MP in the debate the other day about language and the meaning of the word sex . Amidst his word salad he talked about non binary men and non binary women 😂😂

Maybe he needs a word with dear Demi?

I was half starting a post on this earlier but I had to actually do some work. This was my favourite gem in the report I read.

“So that when I was faced with the choice of walking into a bathroom and it said women and men, I didn’t feel like there was a bathroom for me because I didn’t feel necessarily like a woman, I didn’t feel like a man,” she continued. “I just felt like a human.”

So close, but yet so so far.

So, it doesn't really matter which toilet you use; ergo you should use the one which aligns with your biological sex. Simple, non?

WhiteFire · 15/06/2023 22:19

If all they (general) want to do is pee, why all the dramatics about which loos to use?

Attention seeking shit.

Couldn't have put it better

Non binary is kind of a choice, in the sense that until gender neutral pronouns were invested relatively recently, people managed with the existing ones. I am not saying that feeling non binary is a choice, merely that how it is expressed is a personal choice. Perhaps her personal choice is that she'd rather put up with her previous pronouns than exhaust herself fighting the world. There are so many different mixes of genders, sexualities, etc nowadays, why can't a non binary person use female pronouns?

So “misgendering” a “non-binary” person isn’t really a big deal then is it if gender neutral pronouns have only recently been invented and it’s easier to put up with the old fashioned sex-based pronouns? Hardly the hate crime they make it out to be.

See, this is my favourite quote:
*
"Having to access the women’s bathroom, even though I don’t completely identify with it."

Is she not allowed to change her mind? I completely sympathise with her reason to be honest. It's not her responsibility to change the world.

It's not her right to demand the world changes for her.

Demi Lovato reveals why she changed pronouns again

The musician announced last year they would be using both gender-neutral and she/her pronouns

How completely tiresome and narcissistic of her. What's your truth, demi? Or what's your truth this year, that you can be bothered to explain?
