Seems Rosie Duffield and Neale Hanvey were also threatened.

The Met Police appear to have dismissed an earlier threat.

His tweet text

I have left Parliament & London for the week as I have lost all confidence in the @metpoliceuk to take my safety seriously.

Having to explain the threats and the police’s indifference to my husband was quite surreal.

Nothing will deter me from defending my rights, the rights of women or the rights of trans people.

This chaotic and dangerous movement have made it clear, they have run out of legitimate arguments and are resorting to coercion, hyperbole and threats of extreme violence.

There is no place for this behaviour in a democratic society.

My sincerest thanks to so many for your generous support.

Boiledbeetle · 14/06/2023 19:06

Neale Hanvey has tweeted he's going home as the police can't protect him.

BernardBlacksMolluscs · 14/06/2023 19:01

for fuck's sake

yup

that's all I've got

Ramblingnamechanger · 14/06/2023 19:01

How can this be appealed? Where is the best place to protest. Absolutely disgusting that this man wasn't immediately removed from the streets and charged. Solidarity with all those that spoke up.

WhiteFire · 14/06/2023 18:56

What did JC say that was allegedly disrespectful?

She rolled her eyes when someone spoke at length about the vulnerability of trans people which is why women aren't allowed safeguarding anymore.

HareRaising · 14/06/2023 18:56

Ereshkigalangcleg · 14/06/2023 17:14

Does in no way condone any death threat.

That's all you need; Mishi, Hope that helps.

FFS 🙄

WhiteFire · 14/06/2023 18:56

Mochudubh · 14/06/2023 18:53

Where is PC Plod from the Toytown Constabulary when you need him?

I'm sure he could lecture explain to us all why this is absolutely nothing like CF/KJK/MM etc, and nauseam.

MishyJDI · 14/06/2023 17:12

You mean after she was extremely disrespectful to another politician talking about a trans person writing on suicide?

Yep that was super sensitive of her and respectful of someone else speaking.

Does in no way condone any death threat.

Not a very nice person IMHO.

Lessons will be learnt blah blah.

Not by you though.

PonyPatter44 · 14/06/2023 18:41

Women get murdered all the time. What's one more?

(That was bitter sarcasm, for the hard of thinking MishyJDI amongst us)

KalimbaMoon · 14/06/2023 18:36

Picture the scene. In a rare twist, a GC feminist makes a tweet that actually threatens literal violence. No, I’m not talking about misgendering. She goes the whole hog and writes a threatening post along the lines of: “If I ever see (insert name of any prominent trans rights activist) in real life, I’ll (such and such) them with my bare hands.” The police would be breaking down her door. Why are the rules different when the boot’s on the other foot? Could it be because the victim of the death threat in this instance is a pesky woman (or non-man) with ever so problematic GC views?

piedbeauty · 14/06/2023 18:20

So saying 'I’d kill her with my bare hands if I saw her [in real life]' is not a crime, but calling a trans woman a man is a hate crime??

Insanity.

Backstreets · 14/06/2023 18:14

Perhaps the police force assigned to monitor Caroline Farrow's social media could spare a few officers to look into it at least?? Or do they need all their best men on that job

vivariumvivariumsvivaria · 14/06/2023 17:47

She is very brave.

And I'd not be so stupid as to pick a fight with her, she's too smart.

MrsOvertonsWindow · 14/06/2023 17:41

Hmmm. Ponders on all the women arrested / "invited with a threat of arrest" by the police to "discuss" various tweets, none of which contained any death threats? What's the difference I wonder?
(Rhetorical question - we all know the answer).

ArabeIIaScott · 14/06/2023 17:38

The second tweet did appear to be aimed at an actual real male, tho.

Hagosaurus · 14/06/2023 17:37

She should try misgendering someone on Twitter. My guess is the police would come to see her pretty quickly after that 🙄

Chrysanthemum5 · 14/06/2023 17:32

A threat is only credible when it is against an actual human (eg a man) rather than just a support human. Especially a supper human who has the audacity to not be interested in actual humans for sex

ArabeIIaScott · 14/06/2023 17:27

MrsOvertonsWindow · 14/06/2023 17:22

A death threat does not meet the threshold for a crime? Since when?

That's two now. And she's got a court case coming up for other credible threats, presumably on top of the ones she got last year.

This has to fucking stop.

Thanks for your valued opinion, Mishy, great contribution to the discussion.

Earlier article - the threat was made after Cherry spoke at the debate in Westminster Hall.

You mean after she was extremely disrespectful to another politician talking about a trans person writing on suicide?

Yep that was super sensitive of her and respectful of someone else speaking.

Ereshkigalangcleg · 14/06/2023 17:12

The Metropolitan Police have now said they reviewed the post and concluded it “did not meet the criminal threshold for an offence”.

If threatening a lesbian MP with death doesn't, what does?
