£165,000?! Jesus H, what is this, a licence to make money and rip off the taxpayer? To add to every other sin this document is guilty of.

Baroness Nicholson and Dame Falkener. My utmost respect to you, surrounded by a tepid pool of moral pygmies.

Obviously I applaud the sentiment but it would be easy to ignore because it just sounds like a rant.

It would have helped to point out the impacts on people protected by sex and belief in the equalityact.

You dont just ignore the baroness.

Plus she has already done so much. I bet she is fed up of saying the same things over and over.

And in this case it's the report and how the report was made (sorry words have left me this morning)

Imnobody4 · 12/06/2023 10:49

Steve Barclay is well aware of these issues and I'm sure the Baroness has tailored her letter accordingly. I don't understand the need to nit pick.

Steve Barclay has ordered an investigation after £165,000 of taxpayers’ money was spent creating a guide to advise NHS doctors to communicate with patients in a “gender-neutral” way.
The guide includes a foreword from Stonewall and NHS England’s national adviser for LGBT health, who described it as a "must read" for all health and social care professionals.

From Feb.

I'm going to disagree with the majority here and agree with this. The body of the text is good, absolutely no argument about that. But a bit more detail would have maybe helped?

Also, the closing sentence 'Please stop this nonsense before any more rot sets in' just sounds too emotional and a 'ranty plea' after the previous tone - it was a contradiction in tone and could have been so much more powerful.

4plusthehound · 12/06/2023 00:13

Thank you.

I would not have an ounce of confidence that an NHS hospital could guarantee my safety of dignity.

I really do think it is literally an unsafe environment for women.

At a time of insane wealth in the country, and a standard of living rarely seen before the fact that rape is an issue in hospitals should be enough to shut them down. OR at the very least - with immediately effect return to male/female wards.

Ereshkigalangcleg · 12/06/2023 00:04

Also, the Baroness' letter is 👌

Ereshkigalangcleg · 12/06/2023 00:02

That's awful, your poor mum @4plusthehound

Thelnebriati · 11/06/2023 23:56

@4plusthehound I'm so sorry to hear that, it must have been extremely distressing for you both Flowers

My mother was admitted last year.

She is 90.

She needed a catheder.

Two males nurses did it - one held her legs apart while one inserted it.

I have never seen such a distressing sight in my life.

Not fit for FEMALES.

I love Baroness Nicholson.

No debate is over.

BaronMunchausen · 11/06/2023 21:50

What power (if any) does the NHS Confederation have in relation to the NHS? What's the connection between its guidance and NHS decision making? Between its charitable purposes and this campaigning activity?

It claims to represent 1.5 million NHS staff, but how does that representation work? How many active members do they actually have? How many elect the trustees and vote for policy decisions like this?

ArabeIIaScott · 11/06/2023 21:22

I've often been quite surprised at how deluded people can apparently be about their appearance. Of course very few people would be impolite enough to mention it.

NotRightNowNo · 11/06/2023 20:46

I came across my first larping male healthcare worker recently. Whilst I wouldn't want to offend the individual themselves, i was wondering if they realised its very very obvious what sex they were 'assigned at birth'. I wondered how the other patients felt

NotRightNowNo · 11/06/2023 20:41

I despair of the NHS leaders who have let this bizarre and contradictory ideology take hold. I see it all around me every day and I am powerless if I want to keep a roof over my children's heads. It's sinister bull shit that has no place in the lives of most women, yet it is being forced on us in most aspects of life.
Want to have a say in who has access to your body when you're vulnerable? Completely unreasonable you terf!
Remove boundaries and call those that object bigots. Chilling.

RhannionKPSS · 11/06/2023 01:37

Bloody brilliant letter! Thank you Baroness yet again to telling it like it is!

“This is a partial and prejudicial report. I have no doubt a survey of dog lovers would recommend everyone must take their pets to work, but that is hardly a sound basis for workplace practice.”

Superb!!!

Yes, excellent!😂

DOBARDAN · 10/06/2023 18:18

Thank you Baroness Nicholson for composing and sending your letter on behalf of all the women and girls who will be negatively impacted should all the things mentioned in the NHS report be implemented. It really doesn't bear thinking about, but think, and act, we must. Please let this madness be over soon.

What makes it sound like "a rant" to you?

Can't say i read it as a rant at all. There is no over emotive language or unnecessary repetition. It reads as clear and to the point, and friendly in tone.

It doesn't sound remotely like a rant to me. You must be quite unused to standing up for yourself if you can dismiss any sort of decisive language as a rant.

Ah, and I see I've just extrasplained that to you where nils got there first. It's a special skill 😂

belief in the equalityact.

The Equality Act 2010 is law. It's not a question of belief. It applies to you whether you 'believe in it' or not.

To be fair I think PJ has just phrased this badly - I presume PJ means 'sex, and belief' in the Equality Act, which is to say - gender critical views are protected.

ArabeIIaScott · 10/06/2023 17:19

Rightsraptor · 10/06/2023 12:57

I saw some NHS bod describing as 'independent' the bunch of loons who'd concocted that wretched document.

Independent of what, I ask - sanity? Rationality? Common sense?

I think they're confusing 'random' with 'independent'.

Wasn't even random, as far as I can see. Certain number of people responded to the call for respondents, several were rejected on the basis of their gender identity, of the remainder, 25 were selected at random.

It is a really scary situation if you have a relative who needs / or might needs care. The erosion of boundaries is awful.
