Anti-women Response from Caroline Lucas re: equality act

Caroline Lucas is my MP, sadly (I did not used to think that). I wrote to her requesting that she support the clarification that 'sex' in the equality act refers to biological sex. Her response is disgusting and shameful and I will be telling her so. Anyone who votes for that party now is casting a vote against women. I'll post her full response.

Putting “biological sex” into the law would also seem to be totally unworkable in real terms

In declaring that we can't tell if someone is male, Lucas effectively discards the basis of sex-based safeguarding. Totally.

The abolition of sex-based segregation and safeguarding is intrinsic to gender ideology, given that absolutely any man could actually be a woman.

It also requires women and girls to trust and believe men over and above their own eyes and instincts. Lucas knows that. It's what she's saying.

Beowulfa · 08/06/2023 09:47

It is so hard to engage with politics when one of the few you thought had integrity ends up shitting on you.

OP, could you also send her the brilliant post about plurality from the viewpoint of a British Pakistani Muslkim (user name mummysomething) yesterday?

"Putting “biological sex” into the law would also seem to be totally unworkable in real terms"

But "sex" in the equality act already means biological sex. This isn't a change, just a clarification. If she doesn't realise that, it demonstrates exactly why the clarification is needed.

It's not elegant. Far too opaquely anti-women to be elegant. My response was telling her to fuck off and I don't care whether it was elegantly put or not. She's a danger to women and a disgrace to her party.

For the record, your reply was absolutely top class, greenpartyshame. Laser like focus. No hyperbole. Superb.

Excellent that CL is leaving the HoC at the next election - I just hope that doesn't mean she's going to glue her arse to the red leather benches upstairs...

Caroline Lucas - if you or your party are reading this:
More and more public/school toilet blocks are becoming ‘gender neutral’ ie mixed sexed. Everyone (despite their ideologies) seems to realise this means doors have to be full length for privacy with no easy way of getting in a locked cubicle. In fact I have never come across a mixed sex toilet that isn’t. This change is putting lives at risk. The door gaps are there for a very important safety reason - for visibility in case people collapse behind them. There are several places my epileptic daughter is less safe now. Single sex toilets with the door gaps work for many disabled people and other vulnerable people, particularly women. You are making their lives more difficult and unsafe. After all, if anyone is feeling unwell at school/in town - where do you head to?

💐 This is such an important point, I’m so sorry that you have to worry about this and that nobody in power seems to care.

R4 just said she’s standing down so maybe she heard pp plee ;

Ha, I feel all powerful. Told Caroline Lucas to fuck off, and lo ...

Redshoeblueshoe · 08/06/2023 08:41

My reaction to her standing down: Oh fuck, she'll be going straight to the HOL

WittynotPretty · 08/06/2023 08:28

It’s just been reported that Caroline Lucas is standing down at the next election as her constituency work is stopping her from concentrating on the climate crisis.

NotHavingIt · 08/06/2023 08:13

The dignity and integrity of women never seems to be a consideration.

Are all of these people really so blind that they are not aware of the numbers and types of men who are idenetfying as women these days?

I simply don't understand the ignorance and the lack of awareness of our elected representatives.

I joined the Green Party to be able to vote internally on this issue a few years back (unwaged so I felt they weren’t getting much money out of me) as I’d really like an environmental political group that actually campaigned on environmental issues. But feeling like there really is no point doing that as they are so hateful and single minded (which would be fine if it was single minded on green issues). Is there anyone still a member that can convince me there’s a point to remaining?

I also joined to try and help change the GP 'from the inside', as some MNetters were suggesting. But despite ongoing pleas to stay and do this I've had enough. If Caroline Lucas, who is after all supposed to be less batshit than her fellow members, can still produce spectacular batshittery as seen in her email copied above, then there is no hope. So no, no point in remaining!

We are living through a time of great cultural change when it comes to gender and nobody has all the answers yet.

So while we pretend to search for the answers we will prioritise trans women over women.

or maybe

We have carefully implemented this great cultural change and we don't appreciate any criticism from the likes of you

or maybe

We couldn't give a curse about the nuances of this one. Frankly, we are astonished that women aren't just putting up and shutting up like we expected and the sooner you do just this, the easier it will be for us to get back to the important work of running the patriarchy.

Needapadlockonmyfridge · 07/06/2023 23:13

Caroline's response is a disgrace.

OP yours, on the other hand, is brilliant and succinct.

I do think the come the next election, there won't be a single party I will be able to vote for. I absolutely despair.

BlessedKali · 07/06/2023 23:11

Can you imagine being a 12 year old girl, having fallen prey to what you thought was a woman (probably taught that people can change sex at school), the horror and shock of being sexually abused by them - AND THEN seeing politicians - people who are meant to represent you and care about your needs and experience - say 'trans-women' aren't a threat'

how would you even process that?

I am absolutely beyond fuming.

the good thing is it has inspired me to write to my MP and then share the sex-matters link with every single person I know might be interested

BlessedKali · 07/06/2023 23:02

Even if, up until recently that she had been so thick-skulled that she actually believed the propaganda she is spouting - after Katie Dolatowski who assualtedd a girl in the toilets & the recent girl that was abducted by a 'transwoman' outside the school, HOW IN THE FUCK can she utter the words 'trans-women aren't a threat'

How could you gaslight and undermine and de-value two sexually abused young girls like that? it is beyond fucking sick. She is absolutely not fit for her job.

RealityFan · 07/06/2023 22:59

I'm equally aggravated by this as the consensus here.

However it's exactly what I'd expect from her, she's laid out in great detail the new elites consensus view here.

Caroline sees no difference between women and transwomen, none at all.

All she sees are transwomen at a disadvantage, both from discriminatory natal men, and natal women who won't budge up and share their space/definition.

The intersectional analysis is that GC women are discriminatory by even raising an objection to inclusion.

For me, the EHRC debate is the pivotal one in this parliament.

We'll finally see what we're up against.

I'm with you on this one. Given the choice between her and Nigel Farage on a ballot paper, I would vote for the woman-recognising shit-bag .

I don't think a lot of intelligent people are caught up in it

I don't think Caroline lucas has actually sat down and thought about women's rights and how this would affect women for even a second. Her statement doesn't once even talk about women's rights let's be honest, actual born would haven't entered her head

She's listened to the man, and bowed her head. That's it. Not an ounce of critical thinking has gone into it. It's fear, because the TRAs voice is so loud, she can't consider questioning that voice.

Aye.

She's not thinking. She's just chanting.
