If you like folksy ballards this might appeal.

But am really posting to show how LWS has gone global.

US musicians writing about events in NZ organised by UK campaigner!

"This is the Ballad of Posie Parker
Before it gets light it's gotta get darker
Down under in Auckland they thought that they could stop her
But she never loses 'cause she's the Posie Parker"

Considering you are constantly employing the terms “transphobia” and “bigotry”, could you please define them?

TraumatisedGooner · 02/06/2023 06:37

Hepwo · 02/06/2023 00:06

Surely this is the core claim of trans activists like the two Oxbridge men at the centre of the protests against Kathleen Stock? That if non believers speak about men not being women it causes violence against LGBT plus people? They both said they were terrified as a result of Kathleen Stock pointing out that humans can't change sex.

Are they not claiming that, or is it okay for believers to claim it but not non believers?

Hypocrisy as usual.

The difference is who is being blamed.

The reason that transphobia is likely to overspill into homophobia is twofold:

  1. there is a lot of overlap between transphobia and other bigotry
  2. the gender critical movement takes support from wherever it finds it, which means the movement is signal boosting and benefiting people and organisations that want to implement homophobic laws (and much more besides)

I suspect we all know the above two things are true. The question is who we blame. I believe that the gender critical movement is to blame. You on the other hand seem to be saying something along the lines of ‘look what you made us do’. It’s the sentiment of a bully blaming the victim.

Very good!

Here's a better one about the incidents I read recently:

To be sung to the tune of “I Come from a Land Down Under” by Men at Work:

Posie Parker Down Under
Travelled to a women's meeting
Rioters and drums beating
I met a strange lady, he made me nervy
He had a beard and wasn’t curvy

And he said
Welcome to a land down under
Where women's rights are torn asunder
All your words and rights plundered
You'd better run, you'd better take cover

Met a man in a dress with ruffles
He was six foot four and full of muscles
I said “you can't take our language”
But he just snarled and gave me a knuckle sandwich

And I said
You're a load of thugs and nutters
No truth in the things you utter
You're not sisters or mothers
Just deluded dressed up brothers

Back in one piece in the the UK
With fire in me and a lot to say
I said to the men, did you get the email?
Women are adult human females

And I said
I come from a world of wonder
Where women support each another
Can't you hear, can't you hear the thunder?
You'd better run, you'd better take cover

Ereshkigalangcleg · 02/06/2023 00:15

Yes, but they've always been about the double standards, I guess.

2. Where is the logic behind "if society does all these things, gay people are gonna get beaten up"? Why will they?

Because many people don't support these things, especially in the US. It's not a justification, it's reality. The unreasonable demands of trans rights activists are hardening some people against LGB rights, and inevitably feminism too.

How awful. There was very serious violence at that rally- one woman had her foot broken and another elderly woman had her skull fractured . A mob of angry violent men attacked a group of peaceful women.

please speak to your daughter about violence against women.

This.

My youngest DC (thinks they’re nonbinary and wants to change their name) sent me this one:

Farewell to Aukland
(All credit to & inspired by Monty Python’s Brave Sir Robin)

Brave Posie ran away,
Bravely ran away, away.
When danger reared its ugly head, she bravely turned her tail and fled.
Yes, brave Posie turned about
And gallantly, she chickened out.
Bravely taking to her feet,
She beat a very brave tomato’d retreat,
Bravest of the brave, Posie Parker.
She was packing it in and packing it up
And sneaking away and gramming it up
And chickening out and pissing off home,
Yes, bravely she was calling one-one-one.

It is not OK for men to access women's single sex environment's. Toilets, changing rooms, hospital wards, prisons, shelters.
It is not OK for men to provide intimate care to women without their express agreement.
It is not OK to fuck around with kids' bodies and minds.

Are we clear on what KJK is messaging?

  1. How did you get all that from her tweet, which said absolutely nothing about that whatsoever
  2. Where is the logic behind "if society does all these things, gay people are gonna get beaten up"? Why will they?

I’m all ears then — what is the underlying message?

Oh, I'm truly wounded by the sheer sparkling brillance of your repartee.

flaffydaffy · 01/06/2023 23:35

Ereshkigalangcleg · 01/06/2023 23:30

I think I learned it in year 5

Oh, have you completed year 5 then?

As a comeback that's on par with "I am rubber you are glue"

Ereshkigalangcleg · 01/06/2023 23:29

I agree with her that there was always going to be a right wing backlash against anything yoked to the trans activist movement, due to the reasons already mentioned. We've discussed this in FWR for years. I think she's wrong to assume anything about this particular case.

flaffydaffy · 01/06/2023 23:29

Ereshkigalangcleg · 01/06/2023 23:25

We'll that's not a slap in the face to me because I don't agree that's the case. So.

It's something that is a material fact, which can be evidenced. Not something you can handwave away.

Do you know the actual difference between fact and opinion? I think I learned it in year 5, there was cutting and sticking involved.

Hepwo · 01/06/2023 23:29

TraumatisedGooner · 01/06/2023 23:26

What I’m getting from all this is you’re finding it very difficult to come up with any defence for Parker’s comments.

Are you confused traumatised? You are not in a court case. No one has to "come up with any defence".

My DC didn’t write the song. They saw it online and shared it.

When the underlying message is ‘blame trans people for this homophobic attack on a child’… yes?

Ereshkigalangcleg · 01/06/2023 23:24

It's compelled speech and histrionic
tantrums about misgendering and having to hear other people's dissenting opinions, at the same time as making, encouraging or condoning violent threats to women, sometimes involving sexual fantasies about raping them.

flaffydaffy · 01/06/2023 23:23

Ereshkigalangcleg · 01/06/2023 23:21

Here's a hint, it's the gaslighting and controlling behaviour previously mentioned, that you're disingenuously pretending isn't a key feature of the movement.
