There it is, straight from the horse's mouth. A video to show to anyone still skeptical that there are men driven to transition by sexual arousal and fetishism.

I am baffled as to how/why the WHO took trans out of the category of mental disorders.

BonfireLady · 20/05/2023 17:54

Sorry that's ambiguous. "About this aspect" being GAP (please rearrange). Not just addiction.

I'm increasingly noticing links with addiction and addition behaviours.

True.

If (when) I share this in my real life conversations about gender identity, I'll be making it very clear that it is solely about this aspect, not about young children who grow up with gender dysphoria. The line at which young boys become young adolescent fetishist adults is impossible to know but this very much isn't what's behind all male gender dysphoria.

I do remember Richie Tullip (detransitioner) saying in an interview with Benjamin Boyce that it was quite an eye opener to him how he and many other young adolescents were being encouraged to have surgery by men who still had their penises "and I know now it's because they had a fetish" (paraphrased). I had absolutely no idea what fetish he was referring to when I heard it so I made a mental note to find out. He was the first male detransitioner I listened to. Well worth a listen IMO, although it's about young gay men like himself transitioning, not this side of everything.

Or Fay Presto.

I think that this is probably obviously sexual to people who already know about AGP, but those who don't will tend to interpret it differently. They will see it as saying, I blocked out my true womanly nature due to fear that I would not be attractive or loved by anyone, but when I saw that I could be, I finally understood my true self.

Agreed. However, I think this may help many people make that leap because there is already lots of concern about teenagers thinking that what is portrayed in porn is a healthy loving relationship. The fact that this person reduced their description of love and vulnerability to porn and sex is very revealing. It'll at least result in a conversation opener to anyone who already has that wider concern about porn.

What is bizarre to me is that Wachowski is absolutely saying the quiet bit out loud, that it's all sex driven

I don't think they can stop themselves. Even if, as they say the words, they're aware they're damaging their own cause. For some trans people, having a non-dysphoria motivation, they can't resist the utter compulsion, with the ideal being saying it all and people (ie women) still being compelled to provide support and validation.

Yes the compulsion is more than just about the sex, clearly.

This is an illuminating thread about transvestic fetishism.

A paraphilic disorder isn't just a kink. It's obsessive and intense...those affected will go to extreme lengths to satisfy their compulsion. Paraphilias are often also comorbid with trauma, mental illness, substance abuse and, worryingly, antisocial personality disorder and lack of empathy

Yes mate, we know.

What is bizarre to me is that Wachowski is absolutely saying the quiet bit out loud, that it's all sex driven, but somehow between the words leaving their mouth and entering the ears of the interviewer, they go through some sort of sanitation translation.

Yes, yes, it's all totally understandable that you appropriate womanhood, because it's a sexual fetish and it turns you on.

AlisonDonut · 20/05/2023 12:27

Yes mate, we know.

Datun · 20/05/2023 12:26

It wasn't love Wachowski was after, it was sex.

It's the ubiquitous reason for transition. imo of course.

Men pester women for sex, and therefore think that women can have sex whenever they like, so if they become one, hey presto.

Or Fay Presto.

I wonder how desirable LW is to other humans of any proclivity.

And how desirable LW would be if LW wasn't very powerful and influential in the film industry, having leveraged male privilege in that sector most of LW's career.

JulieHoney · 20/05/2023 12:06

He said the quiet part out loud.

GrumpyPanda · 20/05/2023 12:05

He wanted to become "desirable." Gulp.

Shelefttheweb · 20/05/2023 11:47

Are we allowed to call this AGP?
