The reporting in the Birmingham Mail is so fucking biased and inaccurate it is off the charts.

The headline gives the impression the arrested man was "anti trans" ie part of the women's event. Awful.

That headline reading that way is not an accident.

But was the man with the offensive weapon a TRA or one of Posie's supporters? I suspect it was Garden Rake Guy from the TRA side.

Feeling so fed up. I really liked using that paper to see what's going on around here. Will have to find a new paper.

Both the paper and the police are liars.

I know it is so depressing that this is still going on. And we have to rely on WPB for something approaching the truth:

The Workers Party of Britain said the event should have been about "celebrating the role of women in society" and about "standing up for women and their rights".

"It transcended into a stand-off between men and woman supporting the rights of women v trans activists against them," it said in a tweet.

WPB ie George Galloway (groan)

They've posted their own report https://twitter.com/WorkersPartyGB/status/1658916015751798830

(1) It wasn't and anti-trans event
(2) LWS is not a protest it is an event to Let Women Speak

Both the paper and the police are liars.

Women were "punched, kicked and prodded" by trans activists at a rally in Birmingham, according to women's rights campaigner Kellie-Jay Keen.

Speaking to TalkTV's Julia Hartley Brewer, she said police at the Let Women Speak event were reluctant to protect speakers and the officer in charge arrived 45 minutes late.

"It is preposterous we need an army of stewards to keep women safe so they have the freedom to speak," she said. "Without them, I have no idea what would have happened.
"It was deeply unpleasant and unsafe. A 15-year-old girl got assaulted, another girl, about 18, was told she her face would be smashed in."

A man has been arrested and released on bail for carrying an offensive weapon at an anti-trans event in Birmingham City Centre on Sunday. West Midlands Police released a statement regarding the arrest and a separate assault on a 15-year-old who was pushed in the crowd.

I think it depends on the moderator who is in charge at any given time.

Well, am currently off the biscuits, thanks for the warning though, to stay clear of the biscuit emoji.....

I assume biscuit featuring gifs are allowed?

Let's see.

Its like one of those tv shows where competitors think they have learnt the rules and then they get doused with something vile because behind the scenes new rules have been put in place.

And particulary cruel to those on FWR to make biscuits an object of fear!

I think you can report your post to get the attention of MN. I have tried that - but thanks.

@IwantToRetire I think you can report your post to get the attention of MN.

ArabeIIaScott · 17/05/2023 17:10

if you have 3 deletions you are out.

Not quite. It was 'if you have three strikes you'll get banned. Within a set time frame. A 'strike' was accompanied by an email warning you you'd got a strike. People get deleted for all sorts of reasons, not necessarily even for having broken rules.

That said, some people were banned forever with no warning. Someone was banned, iirc, for posting a biscuit emoji.

And some posters seem to get many, many deletions but not get banned.

It's erratic.

nilsmousehammer · 17/05/2023 16:59

If you get a 'strike' HQ will email and let you know, it won't happen without you realising. Flowers It can be extremely difficult to juggle the language and walk on the eggshells even with the best intentions.

Thanks for comments. I have read and re-read the guidelines, the general and the FWR specific ones. I got from that that if you have 3 deletions you are out.

I am quite slow at picking things up but am truely baffled that the post I wrote got deleted.

And yes I know the @MNHQ doesn't work, but sat up last night trying to find a relevant email address, which to me (being a bit slow?) I couldn't identify on the web site.

Does anyone know which email address?

Sorry for these posts about admin on a thread about an important issue.

I've seen posters with way more than three posts deleted who haven't been banned.

it was very fraught here for a while, and so the three strikes within a six week period and you're out, was brought in. We lost loads of decent, clever women. Because they were deliberately targeted and reported relentlessly.

I haven't seen anyone banned in a long time. But I suspect HQ will not rescind that rule, because they like to keep control, for when they need it.

ArabeIIaScott · 17/05/2023 09:48

For one thing, it's been established in court that 'gender critical' beliefs are a protected characteristic. And worthy of respect in a democratic society.

ArabeIIaScott · 17/05/2023 09:38

Yes, perhaps things have changed since those days. I hope so.

Ereshkigalangcleg · 17/05/2023 09:35

These used to be pinned to the top of the board, but I couldn't find them, however found on Google, so maybe they have quietly been dropped? The notorious 3 strikes policy for gender debates on FWR was brought in following pressure on Mumsnet in 2018.

ArabeIIaScott · 17/05/2023 09:34

OP, tagging MNHQ doesn't do anything. You need to report your post. Or ask in 'site stuff'. Or email them.

Mavis the rules vary a bit. Usually if you are getting a warning, MN will email you to say so. Or so I'm told. Grin

Ereshkigalangcleg · 17/05/2023 09:31

It's worth reading the special moderation rules for FWR.

MavisMcMinty · 17/05/2023 09:28

I didn’t realise there were only so many deletions you’re allowed before being banned - how many? I know one of my posts was deleted, and worked out why (I’d named someone currently on trial as though they were guilty, fair enough), but hadn’t had an email or anything about it.

The first time I joined MN - years and years ago - I was banned after my first post!

SinnerBoy · 17/05/2023 02:37

I think that it may be as simple as someone just reporting a post and MN just deleting it "in case," without really studying the content.
