Feminism: Sex and gender discussions

I had a medical and the nurse measured me. To my horror, I discovered I am half an inch shorter than I was 20 years back.

Did she have the right to take that half inch from me and how do I get it back?

Did anyone see this photo floating around Twitter recently. It looks like someone played around with it but others seem to think not. It’s apparently from a gender clinic (possibly Israel?). I’m not sure. The tall man in the middle I believe is the doctor.

Height Dysphoria

it's hard to empathise or sympathise with Chris. I suspect their issues are more mental that physical.

I have inherited my dad's height and have freakishly long gibbon arms so am often asked to use my powers for good in supermarkets.

Next someone asks ask them if they have considered they might be height dysphoric and have they considered having the legs lengthened?

There are probably loads of short or tall people who aren’t trans who feel the same about their height. I’m a 5’ woman and have on occasion felt people don’t take me seriously because I’m very short. And there’s definitely some men I know who are very self conscious about being short. There’s a lot harder things people have to cope with though.

I always knew I was really 5ft10 - I was going to say I feel it in my bones, but they are in reality pretty short so maybe not.

PermanentTemporary · 06/05/2023 21:03

Oh gosh, the transman dislikes their height and feels bad about it, and the transwoman really likes their height and feels good about it. What a striking difference in their experience.

louderthan · 06/05/2023 21:03

How can you be non-binary AND transmasculine?? I not understand.

RavenclawDiadem · 06/05/2023 21:02

When DH calls me "short arse" is that literal violence?

"I want to present myself in the way that feels most authentic — how I envision myself — but as much as I try, society is still going to look at me a certain way. That feels super invalidating,"

I envision myself as a 6 foot, willowy brunette, without freckles, 20 years younger, and can I be musical while we're at it. If society sees me as a dumpy 5 foot 5 woman who is pushing 50, then that's "super invalidating".

Jeezo.

Ignore that, I've been able to read it now.

My DM is 5ft2in and complains bitterly about reaching things on high shelves.

Huge problem in supermarkets, especially when they are putting yellow stickers on and the good stuff goes quick. A short woman asked me to reach a carton for her the other day. I did not realize it was height dysphoria but I did get the carton.
