Uses she/her throughout, ‘one woman show’ etc etc - calling anyone who disagrees that TWAW ‘fascists’.

Every time I think I’m inured to this rubbish I read or see something that makes me despair. What a pathetic, preening liar he is.

‘I’m going for it like crazy’: Eddie Izzard on her one-woman, 19-role Great Expectations

After 30 years, the standup star is now finally winning acting plaudits, for a ‘tour de force’ take on Dickens with sharper punchlines – and Hamlet is next

I didn't know Eddie's mum died when Eddie was seven. That's quite sad

TooOldForThisNonsense · 26/04/2023 20:56

What an absolute dick he is

Theeyeballsinthesky · 26/04/2023 20:54

I loved Eddie when he was Eddie “they’re not women’s dresses, they’re my dresses”

Eddie as Suzy is a tedious run of the mill advanced gender pillock

IJustHadToLookHavingReadTheBook · 26/04/2023 20:52

The politics of transgenderism aside, this is just very, very odd.

Entitled and deluded. What an arse. I despair of the Gruniad. They are printing lies and taking their readers for fools and propogating misogyny

Agree. It's horrifying. Propaganda masquerading as journalism

@BIWI let’s not get personal, please

BIWI · 26/04/2023 20:33

... oh, and it's not 'because of their pronouns' is it? There's a lot more to it than that.

I loved this human when he was Eddie, and she sounds pretty cool now as Suzy. She’s achieved a lot in her lifetime, I’d rather celebrate and raise people up than tear them down because of their pronouns. So many of these posts are hateful and spiteful.

Always the menz supporter, aren't you?

Xoxoxoxoxoxox · 26/04/2023 20:26

I hope his political ambitions come to nothing, he's just a boring old windbag now.
The reporter tried to flatter him and asked him if 'Eddy was doing a full on Glenda Jackson.' -it seemed a bit like Eddy saw the mask slip and felt the condescension of the reporter playing along with his fantasy, it was a bit syrupy even for Eddy and he said 'or like Arnold Schwarzenegger, so you can never be right, he knows he's not a woman, he just likes the draaama darling.

literallyarabbit · 26/04/2023 20:22

Is Suzy going to transition fully? Or is Eddie just another middle aged male hetrosexual autogynephile?

Apologies if this offends anyone, am just curious and trying to understand as to what is really driving him.

The picture looks like Gordon Ramsey has lost a lot of weight.

I looked at it and saw Gary Glitter

I'm putting this one in the "neoliberal hypercapitalist" file, along with Mulvaney. The Guardian is about to go in there, too.

But this is in one way good to see because it's an absolute textbook case of real, damaging cultural appropriation. While the presentation draws on traditional "feminine" stereotypes, a woman could never, ever even get away with this kind of look in our society, let alone be celebrated for it and capitalise on it. She'd be shamed, sidelined, plagued by whispers about her deteriorating mental health/disgraceful aging, and finally dropped and ignored except for some mean sniggers. And, of course, she wouldn't have the automatic option of morphing into Eddie mode "boy mode" when she needed to be taken seriously.

Bbq1 · 26/04/2023 20:09

It's ridiculous calling him, a man, her and she. What a joke. Izzard is a man, male, end of. Just because he decides that he'd like to be a woman now, that's all okay? It's not. The tone of the article comes across as very sycophantic and almost laps up the opportunity to call him her, she, women, female as much as possible.

AnyFucker · 26/04/2023 20:09

It’s a vanity project from this utter tool

Eddie Izzard is a bloke. Eddie Izzard is a bloke. Eddie Izzard is a bloke. Red talons and lipstick changes not a jot.

This is hilarious:

Article: What does the artist formerly known as Eddie Izzardd*, who recently announced she was adding “Suzy” to her name, wish to be called in print? “I think stay with ‘Eddie’ because that’s my public name,” she says when we meet at her manager’s office in London. “And I am gender-fluid. I don’t want to lose Eddie. What I don’t want is ‘Suzy Eddie’.

Ooh glorious! I missed that, have just been back for a look! 😁

Boiledbeetle · 26/04/2023 20:01

Izzard, who is 61, arrives this morning clutching a pink mobile phone and a Harlan Coben hardback. Her hair is punky and platinum with black roots, her lips painted bright red, her long burgundy nails click-clacking against the glass table. We are here to discuss her new one-woman show, which she tells me was born out of fear: whenever she is frightened of something, she makes a point of running towards it. Her aversion to flying is what prompted her to train as a pilot, and it is a fear of literature that will now find her alone on stage each night performing Great Expectations.

pink! her! She! FUCK OFF FUCK OFF FUCK OFF!

MistyGreenAndBlue · 26/04/2023 18:42

I read up to "fear of literature" and gave up 😂
What a load of old cock!

The exact point where I stopped too.

thebaneofmylifeisacat · 26/04/2023 19:54

He's a prize prat!! The guardian is a joke isn't it?

That is all.

FourTeaFallOut · 26/04/2023 19:52

Lock your dalmatians up, Eddie is channelling some serious Cruella de Vil vibes.

Mollyollydolly · 26/04/2023 19:49

I watched 'Victoria and Abdul' last night, I'd forgotten he was in it, he was a much more convincing Edward VII than he is a woman.

And the URL of the article too. Tch tch.Grin

nilsmousehammer · 26/04/2023 19:45

he'll feel they've won once trans is basically boring. When people don't bat an eyelid.

For that to happen, there would have to be no rapes in prisons and on hospital wards, no blokes with swords in women's toilets, or ones handing out tampons and taking selfies of themselves with young girls (or shouting at them and chasing them down the street), or blokes insisting they're lesbians and that homosexual women have some bizarre duty of free sex work for them, or female exclusion from rape crisis, refuges, female only health support groups, sport, freedom of association, freedom of thought, stuff like that.

Stop jumping up and down on women and children's feet with your bloody size 13s and there'll BE nothing to talk about.
